2 Samuel 22
1 And David spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul:
Et David adressa à l'Éternel les paroles de ce cantique, lorsque l'Éternel l'eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül
2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
et il dit: Éternel, mon rocher, mon asile et mon libérateur,
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my preserver; thou savest me from violence.
ô Dieu, mon rocher, où je vais m'abriter! mon bouclier, corne de mon salut, mon boulevard et mon refuge, mon Sauveur, de la violence tu me sauves!
4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies.
Loué soit l'Éternel, me suis-je écrié, et de mes ennemis j'ai été délivré.
5 When the waves of death surrounded me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;
Car les vagues de la mort m'enserraient, et les torrents de l'adversité m'épouvantaient,
les chaînes des Enfers m'enlaçaient et j'étais pris dans les rêts de la mort. (Sheol h7585)
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry entered into his ears.
Dans mon angoisse j'invoquai l'Éternel et à mon Dieu j'adressai mon appel, et de son palais Il entendit ma voix, et mes cris [vinrent] à ses oreilles.
8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was angry.
Alors la terre oscilla et trembla, les fondements des Cieux s'ébranlèrent et tremblèrent, parce qu'il était courroucé.
9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
Une fumée sortit de ses narines, et de sa bouche, un feu dévorant, et Il fit jaillir des charbons ardents,
10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
et Il inclina le Ciel et Il descendit, et l'obscurité était sous ses pieds.
11 And he rode upon a cherub, and flew: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
Et Il était monté sur le Chérubin et volait Et Il se montra sur les ailes du vent,
12 And he made darkness pavilions around him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.
et autour de Lui Il fit sa tente des ténèbres, des amas d'eau et des sombres nuées.
13 Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.
De la splendeur qui le précède, jaillirent les charbons ardents.
14 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.
L'Éternel tonna du ciel et le Très-Haut émit sa voix,
15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and smote them.
et Il lança ses flèches et Il les dissipa, la foudre, et Il les défit.
16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were laid open, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
Et l'on vit paraître les vallées de la mer, et les fondements du monde furent mis à nu au grondement de l'Éternel, au souffle du vent de ses narines.
17 He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;
Il tendit [sa main] d'en haut et me prit et Il me retira des grandes eaux.
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
Il me sauva de mes puissants ennemis, de mes adversaires qui l'emportaient sur moi.
19 They fell upon me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my support.
Ils m'attaquaient au jour du malheur, mais l'Éternel fut un soutien pour moi.
20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
Il m'amena au large, Il me dégagea parce qu'il m'était propice.
21 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
L'Éternel me traita selon ma justice, et me rendit selon la pureté de mes mains;
22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
car je gardais les voies de l'Éternel, et n'étais point rebelle à mon Dieu.
23 For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
Car j'avais toutes ses lois sous les yeux, et ne m'écartais pas de ses commandements;
24 I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from my iniquity.
j'étais sans reproche envers Lui, et je prenais garde de me rendre coupable.
25 Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.
Aussi l'Éternel me rendit selon ma justice, selon ma pureté dont Il était témoin.
26 With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright.
A celui qui t'aime, tu donnes ton amour, tu te montres juste pour l'homme juste,
27 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the perverse thou wilt contend.
tu es pur envers celui qui est pur, et tu trahis celui qui est perfide.
28 And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thy eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.
Et tu es en aide au peuple qui souffre, et tes yeux sont sur les superbes pour les humilier.
29 For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
Oui, tu as été mon flambeau, Éternel, et l'Éternel éclaira mes ténèbres.
30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.
Avec toi j'affrontai des bataillons, et avec mon Dieu je franchis des murailles.
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a shield to all them that trust in him.
Les voies de Dieu ne sont point trompeuses, et la parole de l'Éternel est sans alliage. Il est un bouclier pour quiconque le réclame.
32 For who is God, except the LORD? and who is a rock, except our God?
Car qui est-ce qui est Dieu hors l'Éternel? et qui est un rocher sinon notre Dieu,
33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
ce Dieu qui fut ma forte citadelle et guida le juste dans Sa voie?
34 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet: and setteth me upon my high places.
Il assimila mes pieds à ceux de la biche, et Il m'établit sur mes hauteurs.
35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms.
Il forma mes mains au combat, et mon bras sut bander l'arc d'airain.
36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
Tu me donnas le bouclier de ton secours, et en m'exauçant tu m'agrandis.
37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet have not slipped.
Sous mes pieds tu donnas de l'espace à mes pas, et mes talons ne furent point vacillants.
38 I have pursued my enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.
Je poursuivis mes ennemis et les anéantis, et je ne revins pas qu'ils ne fussent détruits;
39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they have fallen under my feet.
je les achevai, et les écrasai, et ils n'ont pu se relever, ils tombèrent sous mes pieds.
40 For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.
Tu me ceignis de force pour la bataille, et tu fis plier mes adversaires sous moi.
41 Thou hast also given me the necks of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
Tu me fis voir le dos de mes ennemis, et j'anéantis ceux qui me haïssaient.
42 They looked, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he answered them not.
Ils regardèrent autour d'eux; il n'y eut point de sauveur, vers l'Éternel, Il ne leur répondit pas.
43 Then I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I stamped them as the mire of the street, and spread them abroad.
Je les pulvérisai comme la poudre de la terre, comme la boue des rues les foulai, les broyai.
44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
Tu me délivras des attaques de mon peuple, et me gardas pour chef des nations; des peuples à moi inconnus me sont asservis;
45 Strangers shall submit themselves to me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient to me.
les enfants de l'étranger devinrent mes flatteurs; sur ma renommée ils se soumirent.
46 Strangers shall fade away, and they shall come trembling out of their fortresses.
Les enfants de l'étranger sont en décadence, et quittent alarmés leurs châteaux.
47 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
Vive l'Éternel! béni soit mon rocher! qu'il soit exalté le Dieu, mon rocher, mon sauveur,
48 It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me,
le Dieu qui m'accorda la vengeance et m'assujettit les peuples,
49 And that bringeth me forth from my enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
qui me délivra de mes ennemis, m'éleva au-dessus de mes adversaires et me fit échapper à l'homme violent!
50 Therefore I will give thanks to thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises to thy name.
Aussi je veux te chanter parmi les peuples, Éternel, et célébrer ton Nom,
51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and he showeth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
ô toi, qui accordes un grand salut à ton Roi, et fais miséricorde à ton Oint, à David et à sa race éternellement.
