2 Kings 13

1 In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.

১অহসিয়ের ছেলে যিহূদার রাজা যোয়াশের রাজত্বের তেইশ বছরে যেহূর ছেলে যিহোয়াহস শমরিয়াতে ইস্রায়েলের রাজত্ব করতে আরম্ভ করেন এবং সতের বছর রাজত্ব করেন।

2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.

২সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা মন্দ, তিনি তাই করতেন এবং নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়াম ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে যে সব পাপ করিয়েছিলেন, তাঁর সেই পাপের পথ অনুসরণ করলেন; তা থেকে তিনি ফিরলেন না।

3 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

৩সেইজন্য ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধ জ্বলে উঠল, আর তিনি অরামের রাজা হসায়েল ও তাঁর ছেলে বিনহদদের হাতে তাদের তুলে দিলেন, তারা যিহোয়াহসের সমস্ত রাজত্ব কালে তাঁদের উপরে থাকলো।

4 And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened to him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

৪পরে যিহোয়াহস সদাপ্রভুর কাছে মিনতি করলেন, আর সদাপ্রভু তাঁর কথা শুনলেন, কারণ অরামের রাজা ইস্রায়েলের উপর যে অত্যাচার করতেন, সেই অত্যাচার তিনি দেখলেন।

5 (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as in times past.

৫তখন সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলকে একজন উদ্ধারকর্তা দিলেন, তাতে ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা অরামের হাত থেকে উদ্ধার পেল এবং ইস্রায়েল সন্তানরা আগের মতই নিজেদের তাঁবুতে বাস করতে লাগল।

6 Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked in them: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)

৬তবুও যারবিয়াম ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে যে সব পাপ করিয়েছিলেন, তাঁর বংশের সেই সব পাপ থেকে তারা ফিরল না, সেই পথেই চলত। এছাড়া আশেরা মূর্ত্তি তখনও শমরিয়াতে থাকলো।

7 Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

৭ফলে অরামের রাজা কেবল পঞ্চাশজন ঘোড়াচালক, দশটি রথ ও দশ হাজার পদাতিক সৈন্য ছাড়া যিহোয়াহসের সৈন্যদলে আর কেউকে রাখেন নি, তিনি তাদের ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছিলেন, মাটির মতই পায়ে মাড়িয়েছিলেন।

8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

৮যিহোয়াহসের বাকি সমস্ত কাজের কথা ও তাঁর জয়ের কথা ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস নামে বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?

9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.

৯পরে যিহোয়াহস তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রাগত হলেন, আর শমরিয়াতে তাঁকে কবর দেওয়া হল এবং তাঁর জায়গায় তাঁর ছেলে যোয়াশ রাজা হলেন।

10 In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.

১০যিহূদার রাজা যোয়াশের রাজত্বের সাঁইত্রিশ বছরের রাজত্বে যিহোয়াহসের ছেলে যিহোয়াশ শমরিয়াতে ইস্রায়েলের রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন এবং ষোল বছর রাজত্ব করেন।

11 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked in them.

১১সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা খারাপ তিনি তাই করতেন; নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়াম ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে যে সব পাপ করিয়েছিলেন, তাঁর সেই সব পাপ থেকে ফিরলেন না, সেই পথেই চলতেন।

12 And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

১২যোয়াশের বাকি সমস্ত কাজের কথা এবং যে শক্তি দিয়ে তিনি যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয়ের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করলেন, সেই সমস্ত কথা কি ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস নামে বইটিতে লেখা নেই?

13 And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

১৩পরে যোয়াশ তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সাথে নিদ্রাগত হলেন; আর যারবিয়াম তাঁর সিংহাসনে বসলেন এবং শমরিয়াতে ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের সঙ্গে যোয়াশকে কবর দেওয়া হয়েছিল।

14 Now Elisha had fallen sick of his disease of which he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen.

১৪ইলীশায় অসুস্থ হলেন, সেই অসুখেই তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়। ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যোয়াশ তাঁর কাছে গিয়ে তাঁর মুখের উপরে নিচু হয়ে কেঁদে বললেন, “হে আমার পিতা, হে আমার পিতা, ইস্রায়েলের রথ ও ঘোড়াচালক।”

15 And Elisha said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took to him bow and arrows.

১৫তখন ইলীশায় তাঁকে বললেন, “আপনি তীর-ধনুক নিন।” তিনি তীর-ধনুক নিলেন।

16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thy hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands.

১৬পরে তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজাকে বললেন, “ধনুকের উপরে হাত রাখুন।” তিনি হাত রাখলেন। পরে ইলীশায় রাজার হাতের উপর তাঁর হাত রেখে বললেন,

17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD’S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou hast consumed them.

১৭“পূর্ব দিকের জানলাটা খুলে দিন।” তিনি খুললেন। তারপর ইলীশায় বললেন, “তীর ছুঁড়ুন।” তিনি তীর ছুঁড়লেন। তখন ইলীশায় বললেন, “এটা হল সদাপ্রভুর জয়লাভের তীর, অরামের বিপক্ষে জয়লাভের তীর, কারণ আপনি অফেকে অরামীয়দের আঘাত করে তাদেরকে সম্পূর্ণভাবে নিঃশেষ করে দেবেন।”

18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote three times, and stopped.

১৮পরে তিনি বললেন, “ঐ সব তীরগুলি নিন।” রাজা সেগুলি হাতে নিলে তিনি বললেন, “মাটিতে আঘাত করুন,” রাজা তিনবার আঘাত করে থেমে গেলেন।

19 And the man of God was angry with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: though now thou shalt smite Syria but three times.

১৯তখন ঈশ্বরের লোক তাঁর ওপর রাগ করে বললেন, “পাঁচ ছয়বার আঘাত করলে অরামীয়দের সম্পূর্ণভাবে ধ্বংস করতে পারতেন, কিন্তু এখন আপনি মাত্র তিনবার অরামকে আঘাত করবেন।”

20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

২০পরে ইলীশায় মারা গেলেন এবং লোকেরা তাঁর কবর দিল। তখন মোয়াবীয় লুটকারী সৈন্যদল বছরের শুরুতে দেশে ঢুকল।

21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood on his feet.

২১আর লোকেরা এক জনকে কবর দিচ্ছিল, আর একদল লুটকারী সৈন্যদল দেখে তারা মৃতদেহটি ইলীশায়ের কবরে ফেলে দিল; তখন লোকটী মৃতদেহ ইলীশায়ের হাড়গুলিতে ছোঁওয়া মাত্রই বেঁচে উঠে পায়ে ভর দিয়ে দাঁড়াল।

22 But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

২২যিহোয়াহসের দিন অরামের রাজা হসায়েল ইস্রায়েলের উপর অত্যাচার করতেন।

23 And the LORD was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither did he cast them from his presence as yet.

২৩কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু অব্রাহাম, ইস্‌হাক ও যাকোবের সঙ্গে যে ব্যবস্থা স্থাপন করেছিলেন, সেইজন্য তিনি তাদের উপর দয়া ও করুণা করলেন, তাদের পক্ষে থাকলেন, তাদের ধ্বংস করতে চাননি, তখনও তাঁর সামনে থেকে দূর করে দিতে চাইলেন না।

24 So Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.

২৪পরে অরামের রাজা হসায়েল মারা গেলে তাঁর ছেলে বিনহদদ তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন।

25 And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again from the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken from the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times Joash smote him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

২৫যিহোয়াশের বাবা যিহোয়াহসের হাত দিয়ে হসায়েল সেই সব নগরগুলি আবার দখল করে নিলেন, যেগুলি হসায়েলের ছেলে বিনহদদ তাঁর বাবা যিহোয়াহসের কাছ থেকে যুদ্ধে জয় করে নিয়েছিলেন। যোয়াশ তিনবার তাঁকে আঘাত করে ইস্রায়েলীয় নগরগুলি উদ্ধার করলেন।
