Malachi 2

1 Now you priests, this command is for you.

Ahora, pues, oh sacerdotes, para vosotros es este mandamiento.

2 “If you will not listen, and if you will not lay it on your heart to give honor to my name,” says Yahweh of hosts, “then I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have cursed them, because you are not laying my command on your heart.

Si no oyereis, y si no acordareis dar gloria a mi Nombre, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, enviaré maldición sobre vosotros, y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y aun las he maldecido, porque no lo ponéis en vuestro corazón.

3 See, I am about to rebuke your descendants, and I will spread dung on your faces, the dung from your festivals, and he will take you away with it.

He aquí, reprendo su simiente, y esparciré el estiércol sobre vuestros rostros, el estiércol de vuestras solemnidades, y con él seréis removidos.

4 You will know that I have sent this command to you, and that my covenant may continue to be with Levi,” says Yahweh of hosts.

Y sabréis que yo os envié este mandamiento, haciendo mi pacto con Leví, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

5 “My covenant with him was life and peace, and I gave them to him; I gave him fear, and he feared me, and he stood in awe of my name.

Mi pacto fue con él de vida y de paz, las cuales cosas yo le di por el temor; porque me temió, y delante de mi Nombre fue quebrantado.

6 True instruction was in his mouth, and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness and he turned many away from sin.

La Ley de Verdad estuvo en su boca, e iniquidad nunca fue hallada en sus labios; en paz y en justicia anduvo conmigo, y de la iniquidad hizo apartar a muchos.

7 For a priest's lips should keep knowledge and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is a messenger of Yahweh of hosts.

Porque los labios del sacerdote guardan la sabiduría, y de su boca buscarán la ley; porque ángel es del SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

8 But you have turned away from the true path. You have caused many to stumble with respect to the law. You have broken the covenant of Levi,” says Yahweh of hosts.

Mas vosotros os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley; habéis corrompido el pacto de Leví, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

9 “So I also, I have made you contemptible and vile before all the people, because you have not kept my ways, but have instead shown partiality with regard to the instruction.”

Por tanto, yo también os torné viles y bajos a todo el pueblo, como vosotros no guardasteis mis caminos, y en la ley tenéis acepción de personas.

10 Is there not one father for us all? Has not one God created us? Why are we faithless each man against his brother, profaning the covenant of our fathers?

¿No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha criado un mismo Dios? ¿Por qué menospreciaremos cada uno a su hermano, quebrantando el pacto de nuestros padres?

11 Judah has been faithless. A disgusting thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned the holy place of Yahweh which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.

Prevaricó Judá, y en Israel y en Jerusalén ha sido cometida abominación; porque Judá ha profanado la santidad del SEÑOR amando, y casándose con hija de dios extraño.

12 May Yahweh cut off from the tents of Jacob the man who does this, the one who is awake and the one who answers, even if he is bringing an offering to Yahweh of hosts.

El SEÑOR talará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hiciere esto, al maestro, y al estudiante, y al que ofrece presente al SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

13 You also do this: You cover the altar of Yahweh with tears, with weeping and sighing, because he still does not turn toward the offering or accept it with favor from your hand.

Y esta otra vez haréis cubrir el altar del SEÑOR de lágrimas, de llanto, y de clamor; porque yo no miraré más al presente, para tomar ofrenda voluntaria de vuestra mano.

14 But you say, “Why does he not?” Because Yahweh was a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have been faithless, even though she was your companion and your wife by covenant.

Y diréis: ¿Por qué? Porque el SEÑOR ha atestiguado entre ti y la mujer de tu juventud, contra la cual tú has sido desleal, siendo ella tu compañera, y la mujer de tu pacto.

15 Did he not make them one, with a portion of his spirit? Then why did he make you one? Because he was seeking an offspring from God. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.

¿No hizo él uno, habiendo en él abundancia de Espíritu? ¿Y por qué uno? Procurando simiente de Dios. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu, y contra la mujer de vuestra mocedad no seáis desleales.

16 “For I hate divorce,” says Yahweh, the God of Israel, “and the one who covers his garment with violence,” says Yahweh of hosts. “So guard yourselves in your spirit and do not be faithless.”

El que la aborrece enviándola, dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel, cubre la iniquidad con su vestido, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos. Guardaos pues en vuestro espíritu, y no seáis desleales.

17 You have wearied Yahweh with your words. But you say, “How have we wearied him?” By saying, “Everyone who does evil is good in the eyes of Yahweh, and he delights in them,” or “Where is the God of justice?”

Habéis hecho cansar al SEÑOR con vuestras palabras. Y diréis: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? Cuando decís: Cualquiera que mal hace agrada al SEÑOR, y en los tales toma contentamiento; de otra manera, ¿dónde está el Dios de juicio?
