John 8
1 Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
イエズス、橄欖山に往き、
2 Early in the morning he came to the temple again, and all the people came; he sat down and taught them.
黎明に復[神]殿に至り給ひしに、人民皆御許に來りければ、坐して之を教へ居給ひしが、
3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in the act of adultery. They placed her in the middle.
律法學士、ファリザイ人等、姦淫せる時捕へられたる一人の婦を引來りて之を眞中に立たせ、
4 Then they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery.
イエズスに云ひけるは、師よ、此婦は今姦淫せる處を捕へられたり、
5 Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such people; what do you say about her?”
モイゼは律法に於て斯る者に石を擲つ事を我等に命じたるが、汝は之を何と謂ふぞ、と。
6 They said this in order to trap him so that they might have something to accuse him about, but Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger.
斯く云へるは、イエズスを試みて、訟ふる條件を得ん為なりしが、イエズスは身を屈め、指もて地に物を書き居給へり。
7 When they continued asking him questions, he stood up and said to them, “The one among you who has no sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”
然るに彼等問ひて止まざりしかば、イエズス立上り、汝等の中罪なき人は、先に石を彼に擲つべし、と曰ひ、
8 Again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.
再び身を屈めて地に物書き居給へるに、
9 When they heard it, they left one by one, beginning with the oldest. Finally Jesus was left alone, with the woman who had been in the middle.
彼等聞きて、年長を初として一人々々に立去り、唯イエズスと眞中に立てる婦とのみ遺りしかば、
10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?”
イエズス立上りて之に曰ひけるは、婦よ、汝を訟へ居たりし人々は何處に居るぞ、誰も汝を罪に定めざりしか、と。
11 She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.”]
婦、主よ誰も、と云ひしかば、イエズス曰ひけるは、我も汝を罪に定めじ、往け、此後復罪を犯すこと勿れ、と。
12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
然てイエズス再び人々に語りて、我は世の光なり、我に從ふ人は暗黒を歩まず、却て生命の光を得べし、と曰ひければ、
13 The Pharisees said to him, “You bear witness about yourself; your witness is not true.”
ファリザイ人之に謂ひけるは、汝は自ら己を證明す、汝の證明は眞實ならず。
14 Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness about myself, my witness is true. I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I came from or where I am going.
イエズス答へて曰ひけるは、我は己を證明すれども、我證明は眞實なり、是我が何處より來りて何處に往くかを知ればなり。然れど汝等は、我が何處より來りて何處に往くかを知らず、
15 You judge according the flesh; I judge no one.
汝等は肉親によりて是非し、我は誰をも是非せず、
16 Yet if I judge, my judgment is true because I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
若是非する事あれば、我が是非する所は眞實なり、其は我獨に非ずして我と我を遣はし給ひし父となればなり。
17 Yes, and in your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true.
汝等の律法に録して、「二人の證は眞實なり」とあり、
18 I am he who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”
我は己を證し、我を遣はし給ひし父も亦我を證し給ふなり、と。
19 They said to him, “Where is your father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father; if you had known me, you would have known my Father also.”
彼等乃ちイエズスに向ひ、汝の父何處にか在る、と云ひしかば、イエズス答へ給ひけるは、汝等は我をも我父をも知らず、若我を知りたらば必ず我父をも知れるならん、と。
20 He said these words in the treasury as he taught in the temple, and no one arrested him because his hour had not yet come.
イエズスが斯く語り給ひしは、[神]殿の内、賽銭箱の傍にて教へつつありし時なれども、誰も手を掛くる者なかりき、其は彼の時未だ至らざればなり。
21 So again he said to them, “I am going away; you will seek me and will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
然ればイエズス再び彼等に向ひ、我は往く、汝等我を尋ぬべけれども、己が罪の中に死せん、我が往く處には汝等來る能はず、と曰ひしかば、
22 The Jews said, “Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, 'Where I am going you cannot come'?”
ユデア人、彼は我が往く處には汝等來る能はずと云ひしが、自殺せんとするか、と云ひけるに、
23 Jesus said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
イエズス曰ひけるは、汝等は下よりせるに、我は上よりせり、汝等は此世の者なるに、我は此世の者に非ず、
24 Therefore, I said to you that you will die in your sins. For unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.”
我是によりて、汝等己が罪の中に死せんと云へり、蓋汝等、若我が其なる事を信ぜずば、己が罪の中に死すべし、と。
25 They said therefore to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “What I have said to you from the beginning.
彼等、汝は誰なるぞ、と云ひしかば、イエズス曰ひけるは、我は即ち素より汝等に告ぐる所の者なり。
26 I have many things to speak and to judge about you. However, he who sent me is true; and the things that I heard from him, these things I say to the world.”
我汝等に就きて云ふべき事、審くべき事多し、然りながら我を遣はし給ひし者は眞實にて在し、我が世に在りて語る所は彼より聞きしものなり、と。
27 They did not understand that he was speaking to them about the Father.
斯ても彼等は、イエズスが神を我父と稱し給へることを暁らざりき。
28 Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then will you know that I AM, and that I do nothing of myself. As the Father taught me, I speak these things.
然ればイエズス彼等に曰ひけるは、汝等人の子を挙げたらん時、我が其なる事を暁り、又我が私には何事をも為さず、父の教へ給へる儘に、此等の事を語るを暁らん。
29 He who sent me is with me, and he has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him.”
我を遣はし給ひし者は我と共に在して、我を孤ならしめ給はず、其は我が恒に御意に適へる事を為せばなり、と。
30 As Jesus was saying these things, many believed in him.
斯く語り給へるに、信仰する人多かりければ、
31 Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples;
イエズス己を信じたるユデア人に向ひ、汝等若我言に止らば實に我弟子にして、且眞理を暁り、
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
眞理は汝等を自由ならしめん、と曰ひしかば、
33 They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been slaves of anyone; how can you say, 'You will be set free'?”
彼等答へけるは、我等はアブラハムの子孫にして未だ曾て誰にも奴隷たりし事なし、何ぞ汝等自由なるべしと言ふや、と。
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
イエズス彼等に答へ給ひけるは、誠に實に汝等に告ぐ、総て罪を犯す人は罪の奴隷なり、
奴隷は限なく家に止る者に非ず、子こそ限なく止るなれ、 (aiōn g165)
36 Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free.
然れば子若汝等を自由ならしめば、汝等實に自由成るべし。
37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants; you seek to kill me because my word has no place in you.
汝等がアブラハムの子孫なる事は我之を知れり、然れども我言汝等の中に容れられざるによりて、汝等我を殺さんとす。
38 I say what I have seen with my Father, and you also do what you heard from your father.”
我は我父に就きて見し所を語り、汝等は己が父に就きて見し所を行ふなり、と。
39 They answered and said to him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.
彼等答へて、我等の父はアブラハムなり、と云ひしかば、イエズス彼等に曰ひけるは、汝等若アブラハムの子等ならばアブラハムの業を為せ、
40 Yet, now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
然るに汝等は今、神より聞きたる眞理を汝等に告ぐる人たる我を殺さんと謀る、是アブラハムの為さざる所、
41 You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born in sexual immorality; we have one Father: God.”
汝等は己が父の業を為すなり、と。是に於て彼等イエズスに云ひけるは、我等は私通によりて生れし者に非ず、我等に獨一の父即ち神あり、と。
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me.
イエズス乃ち彼等に曰ひけるは、神若汝等の父ならば汝等は必ず我を愛するならん、其は我神より出來りたればなり、即ち我は私に來りしに非ず、神こそ我を遣はし給ひしなれ。
43 Why do you not understand my words? It is because you cannot hear my words.
汝等我談を弁へざるは何故ぞ、是我が語る所を聞き得ざる故なり。
44 You are of your father, the devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature because he is a liar and the father of lies.
汝等は惡魔なる父より出でて敢て己が父の望を行ふ、彼は初より殺人者にして眞理に立たざりき、眞理は彼の中に在らざればなり、彼は僞を云ふ時己より語る、其は僞者にして而も僞の父なればなり。
45 Yet, because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.
我眞理を説けども汝等之を信ぜず、
46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?
汝等の中誰か我に罪ある事を證せん。我汝等に眞理を説くも我を信ぜざるは何故ぞ、
47 He who is of God hears the words of God; you do not hear them because you are not of God.”
神よりの者は神の御言を聴く、汝等の聴かざるは神よりの者ならざるによれり、と。
48 The Jews answered and said to him, “Do we not truly say that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
斯てユデア人答へてイエズスに謂ひけるは、我等が、汝はサマリア人にして惡魔に憑かれたる者なり、と云へるは宜ならずや。
49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
イエズス答へけるは、我惡魔に憑かれず、却て我父を尊べるに、汝等は我を侮辱す。
50 I do not seek my glory; there is one seeking and judging.
但我は己の光榮を求めず、之を求め且審判し給ふ者は別に在り。
誠に實に汝等に告ぐ、人若我言を守らば永遠に死を見ざるべし、と。 (aiōn g165)
52 The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham and the prophets died; but you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.' (aiōn g165)
是に於てユデア人云ひけるは、我等汝が惡魔に憑かれたるを今こそは暁りたれ、アブラハムも死し、預言者等も死せり、然るを汝、人若我言を守らば永遠に死を味はじと云ふ。 (aiōn g165)
53 You are not greater than our father Abraham who died, are you? The prophets also died. Who do you make yourself out to be?”
汝は我等の父アブラハムよりも大いなる者なるか、彼も死し預言者も死したるに、汝は己を誰なりとするぞ。
54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who glorifies me—about whom you say that he is your God.
イエズス答へ給ひけるは、我若自ら己に光榮を歸せば、我光榮は皆無成るべし、我に光榮を歸する者は我父なり。即ち汝等が己の神と稱する者なり。
55 You have not known him, but I know him. If I would say, 'I do not know him,' I would be like you, a liar. However, I know him and keep his word.
汝等は彼を知らざれども我は彼を知れり、我若彼を知らずと云はば、汝等と均しく僞者たるべし、然れども我は彼を知り且其御言を守る。
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”
汝等の父アブラハムは、我日を見んと樂しみしが、見て喜べり、と。
57 The Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and you have seen Abraham?”
是に於てユデア人イエズスに向ひ、汝未だ五十歳ならざるに、而もアブラハムを見たりしや、と云ひたるに、
58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
イエズス曰ひけるは、誠に實に汝等に告ぐ、我はアブラハムの生るるに先ちて存す、と。
59 Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
是に於て人々石を取りてイエズスに擲たんとしけるに、イエズス身を隠して[神]殿より出で給へり。
