Genesis 35

1 God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and stay there. Build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from Esau your brother.”

Depois disse Deus a Jacob: Levanta-te, sobe a Bethel, e habita ali; e faz ali um altar ao Deus que te apareceu, quando fugiste diante da face de Esaú teu irmão.

2 Then Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your clothes.

Então disse Jacob à sua família, e a todos os que com ele estavam: tirai os deuses estranhos, que há no meio de vós, e purificai-vos, e mudai os vossos vestidos.

3 Then let us depart and go up to Bethel. I will build an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and has been with me wherever I have gone.”

E levantemo-nos, e subamos a Bethel; e ali farei um altar ao Deus que me respondeu no dia da minha angústia, e que foi comigo no caminho que tenho andado.

4 So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods that were in their hand, and the rings that were in their ears. Jacob buried them under the oak that was near Shechem.

Então deram a Jacob todos os deuses estranhos, que tinham em suas mãos, e as arrecadas que estavam em suas orelhas; e Jacob os escondeu debaixo do carvalho que está junto a Sichem.

5 As they traveled, God made panic to fall on the cities that were around them, so those people did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

E partiram; e o terror de Deus foi sobre as cidades que estavam ao redor deles, e não seguiram após os filhos de Jacob.

6 So Jacob arrived at Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

Assim chegou Jacob a Luz, que está na terra de Canaan, (esta é Bethel), ele e todo o povo que com ele havia.

7 He built an altar there and called the place El Bethel, because there God had revealed himself to him, when he was fleeing from his brother.

E edificou ali um altar, e chamou aquele lugar El-beth-el: porquanto Deus ali se lhe tinha manifestado quando fugia diante da face de seu irmão.

8 Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died. She was buried down from Bethel under the oak tree, so it was called Allon Bakuth.

E morreu deborah, a ama de Rebeca, e foi sepultada ao pé de Bethel, debaixo do carvalho cujo nome chamou Allonbachuth.

9 When Jacob came from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him.

E apareceu Deus outra vez a Jacob, vindo de Paddan-aram, e abençoou-o.

10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob, but your name will no longer be called Jacob. Your name will be Israel.” So God called his name Israel.

E disse-lhe Deus: O teu nome é Jacob; não se chamará mais o teu nome Jacob, mas Israel será o teu nome. E chamou o seu nome Israel.

11 God said to him, “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.

Disse-lhe mais Deus: Eu sou o Deus Todo-poderoso; frutifica e multiplica-te; uma nação e multidão de nações sairão de ti, e reis procederão dos teus lombos

12 The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you. To your descendants after you I also give the land.”

E te darei a ti a terra que tenho dado a Abraão e a Isaac, e à tua semente depois de ti darei a terra.

13 God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.

E Deus subiu dele, do lugar onde falara com ele.

14 Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God had spoken to him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering over it and poured oil on it.

E Jacob pôs uma coluna no lugar onde falara com ele, uma coluna de pedra; e derramou sobre ela uma libação, e deitou sobre ela azeite.

15 Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel.

E chamou Jacob o nome daquele lugar, onde Deus falara com ele, Bethel.

16 They journeyed on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor. She had hard labor.

E partiram de Bethel: e havia ainda um pequeno espaço de terra para chegar a Ephrata, e pariu Rachel, e ela teve trabalho em seu parto.

17 While she was in hardest labor, the midwife said to her, “Do not be afraid, for now you will have another son.”

E aconteceu que, tendo ela trabalho em seu parto, lhe disse a parteira: Não temas, porque também este filho terás.

18 As she was dying, with her dying breath she named him Ben-Oni, but his father called him Benjamin.

E aconteceu que, saindo-se-lhe a alma (porque morreu), chamou o seu nome Benoni; mas seu pai o chamou Benjamin.

19 Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

Assim morreu Rachel; e foi sepultada no caminho de Ephrata, este é Beth-lehem.

20 Jacob set up a pillar upon her grave. It is the marker of Rachel's grave to this day.

E Jacob pôs uma coluna sobre a sua sepultura; esta é a coluna da sepultura de Rachel até ao dia de hoje.

21 Israel traveled on and pitched his tent beyond the watchtower of the flock.

Então partiu Israel, e estendeu a sua tenda de além de Migdal Eder.

22 While Israel was living in that land, Reuben slept with Bilhah his father's concubine, and Israel heard of it. Now Jacob had twelve sons.

E aconteceu que, habitando Israel naquela terra, foi Ruben, e deitou-se com Bilhah, concubina de seu pai; e Israel ouviu-o. E eram doze os filhos de Jacob:

23 His sons by Leah were Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

Os filhos de Leah: Ruben, o primogênito de Jacob, depois Simeão e Levi, e Judá, e Issacar e Zebulon;

24 His sons by Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin.

Os filhos de Rachel: José e Benjamin;

25 His sons by Bilhah, Rachel's female servant, were Dan and Naphtali.

E os filhos de Bilhah, serva de Rachel: Dan e Naphtali;

26 The sons of Zilpah, Leah's female servant, were Gad and Asher. All these were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan Aram.

E os filhos de Zilpah, serva de Leah: Gad e Aser. Estes são os filhos de Jacob, que lhe nasceram em Paddan-aram.

27 Jacob came to Isaac, his father, in Mamre in Kiriath Arba (the same as Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had lived.

E Jacob veio a seu pai Isaac, a Mamre, a Kiriath-arba (que é Hebron), onde peregrinaram Abraão e Isaac.

28 Isaac lived for one hundred eighty years.

E foram os dias de Isaac cento e oitenta anos.

29 Isaac breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his ancestors, an old man full of days. Esau and Jacob, his sons, buried him.

E Isaac expirou, e morreu, e foi recolhido aos seus povos, velho e farto de dias; e Esaú e Jacob, seus filhos, o sepultaram.
