Ezekiel 20

1 It came about in the seventh year, on the tenth day of the fifth month, that elders of Israel came to inquire of Yahweh and sat before me.

౧బబులోను చెరలో ఉన్న కాలంలో, ఏడో సంవత్సరం, ఐదో నెల, పదో రోజు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల పెద్దల్లో కొంతమంది యెహోవాను యోచన అడగాలని ఆయన దగ్గరికి వచ్చి నా ఎదుట కూర్చున్నారు.

2 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

౨అప్పుడు యెహోవా వాక్కు నాకు ఇలా వినిపించింది,

3 “Son of man, declare to the elders of Israel and say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Have you come to inquire of me? As I live, I will not be inquired of by you!—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.'

౩“నరపుత్రుడా, ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల పెద్దలతో నువ్వు ఇలా చెప్పు, ప్రభువైన యెహోవా చెప్పేదేమంటే, నన్ను అడిగి తెలుసుకోడానికి మీరు వచ్చారా? నా జీవం తోడు, నానుంచి ఏ ఆలోచనా మీకు దొరకదు.” ఇదే ప్రభువైన యెహోవా వాక్కు.

4 Will you judge them? Will you judge, son of man? Let them know about their fathers' abominations.

౪“వాళ్లకు న్యాయం తీరుస్తావా? నరపుత్రుడా, వాళ్లకు న్యాయం తీరుస్తావా? వాళ్ళ పితరులు చేసిన అసహ్యమైన పనులు వాళ్ళకు తెలియజేయి.

5 Say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day that I chose Israel and raised my hand to swear an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I raised my hand to swear an oath to them. I said, “I am Yahweh your God”—

౫వాళ్ళతో చెప్పు, ప్రభువైన యెహోవా ఇలా చెప్తున్నాడు, నేను ఇశ్రాయేలును ఎంపిక చేసుకున్న రోజు, యాకోబు సంతానానికి ప్రమాణం చేసిన రోజు, ఐగుప్తుదేశంలో నన్ను వాళ్లకు ప్రత్యక్షం చేసుకుని ప్రమాణం చేసి, నేను మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవానని నేను ప్రకటించిన కాలంలో,

6 on that day I raised my hand to swear an oath to them that I would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had carefully selected for them. It was flowing with milk and honey; it was the most beautiful ornament among all the lands.

౬వాళ్ళను ఐగుప్తు దేశంలోనుంచి రప్పించి, వాళ్ళ కోసం నేను ఎంపిక చేసిన దేశం, పాలు తేనెలు ప్రవహించేది, అన్ని దేశాలకూ ఆభరణమైనది అయిన ఆ దేశంలోకి తీసుకు వెళ్తానని నేను ప్రమాణం చేశాను.

7 I said to them, “Let each man throw away the detestable things from before his eyes and the idols of Egypt. Do not make yourselves unclean; I am Yahweh your God.”

౭అప్పుడు నేను వాళ్ళతో, నేను మీ దేవుడనైన యెహోవాను, మీలో ప్రతివాడూ అసహ్యమైన పనులు విడిచిపెట్టాలి, ఐగుప్తీయుల విగ్రహాలు విసిరేసి, వాటిని పూజించడం వల్ల మిమ్మల్ని మీరు అపవిత్రపరచుకోకుండా ఉండాలి, అన్నాను.

8 But they rebelled against me and were unwilling to listen to me. Each man did not throw away the detestable things from before his eyes nor forsake the idols of Egypt, so I determined to pour out my fury upon them to satisfy my wrath among them in the middle of the land of Egypt.

౮అయితే వాళ్ళు నా మాట వినకుండా నా మీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసి, అసహ్యమైన పనులు చెయ్యడం మానలేదు. ఐగుప్తీయుల విగ్రహాలు పూజించడం మానలేదు గనుక వాళ్ళు ఐగుప్తీయుల దేశంలో ఉండగానే నేను నా ఉగ్రత వాళ్ళ మీద కుమ్మరించి వాళ్ళ మీద నా కోపం తీర్చుకుంటానని అనుకున్నాను.

9 I acted for my name's sake so it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were staying. I made myself known to them, in their eyes, by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

౯ఏ అన్యదేశాల ఎదుట నన్ను నేను ప్రత్యక్షం చేసుకున్నానో, ఏ అన్యప్రజల మధ్య వాళ్లున్నారో, ఆ అన్యప్రజల్లో, వాళ్ళున్న అన్యప్రజల ఎదుట వాళ్లకు నన్ను ప్రత్యక్షం చేసుకున్నాను. నా పేరుకు దూషణ కలగకుండా ఉండాలని ఆ విధంగా చెయ్యకుండా, ఆ ప్రజలు చూస్తూ ఉండగా నా ఘన నామం కోసం నేను వాళ్ళను ఐగుప్తు దేశంలోనుంచి రప్పించాను.

10 So I sent them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

౧౦వాళ్ళను ఐగుప్తు దేశంలోనుంచి రప్పించి నిర్జన ప్రదేశంలోకి తీసుకొచ్చి,

11 Then I gave them my statutes and made my decrees known to them, by which a man will live if he obeys them.

౧౧వాళ్లకు నా కట్టడలు నియమించి, నా విధులు వాళ్లకు తెలియజేశాను. ఎవడైనా వాటిని అనుసరిస్తే, వాటిని బట్టి బ్రతుకుతాడు.

12 I also gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between myself and them, for them to know that I am Yahweh who makes them holy.

౧౨యెహోవానైన నేనే వాళ్ళను పవిత్రపరచే వాడినని వాళ్ళు తెలుసుకునేలా నాకూ, వాళ్ళకూ మధ్య నా విశ్రాంతి దినాలను నేను వాళ్లకు సూచనగా నియమించాను.

13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes; instead, they rejected my decrees, by which a man will live if he obeys them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths, so I said I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness in order to end them.

౧౩అయితే ఎడారిలో ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు నామీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసి నా కట్టడలు అనుసరించకుండా, తాము అనుసరించి జీవించాలని నేనిచ్చిన విధులను తృణీకరించి, నేను నియమించిన విశ్రాంతి దినాలను అపవిత్రం చేసినప్పుడు, ఎడారిలో నా ఉగ్రత నేను వాళ్ళ మీద కుమ్మరించి, వాళ్ళను నాశనం చేద్దామనుకున్నాను.

14 But I acted for my name's sake so it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out of Egypt.

౧౪కాని నేను వాళ్ళను రప్పించినప్పుడు ఏ అన్యప్రజలు చూశారో, ఏ అన్యప్రజల్లోనుంచి నేను వాళ్ళను రప్పించానో, వాళ్ళ ఎదుట నా పేరుకు దూషణ కలగకుండా ఉండేలా నేను అనుకున్న ప్రకారం చెయ్యకుండా మానాను.

15 So I myself also raised my hand to swear an oath to them in the wilderness not to bring them into the land that I had been going to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey, which was the most beautiful ornament among all the lands.

౧౫తమకిష్టమైన విగ్రహాలను అనుసరించాలని కోరి, వాళ్ళు నా విధులను తృణీకరించి, నా కట్టడలను అనుసరించకుండా నేను నియమించిన విశ్రాంతి దినాలను అపవిత్రం చేసినప్పుడు,

16 I swore this because they had rejected my decrees and did not walk in my statutes, and they profaned my Sabbaths, since their hearts walked after their idols.

౧౬ఇస్తానని నేను చెప్పినదీ, పాలు తేనెలు ప్రవహించేదీ, అన్ని దేశాలకూ ఆభరణం అయిన ఆ దేశంలోకి వాళ్ళను తీసుకు రానని వాళ్ళు ఎడారిలో ఉండగానే నేను ప్రమాణం చేశాను.

17 But my eye spared them from their destruction and I did not annihilate them in the wilderness.

౧౭అయినా వాళ్ళు నశించిపోకుండా ఉండాలని వాళ్ళ మీద కనికరం చూపించి, ఎడారిలో నేను వాళ్ళను నాశనం చెయ్యలేదు.

18 I said to their children in the wilderness, “Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, or keep their rules, or defile yourselves with their idols.

౧౮వాళ్ళు ఎడారిలో ఉండగానే వాళ్ళ పిల్లలతో నేను, మీరు మీ పితరులూ ఆచారాలు అనుసరించకుండా, వాళ్ళ పద్ధతుల ప్రకారం ప్రవర్తించకుండా, వాళ్ళు పెట్టుకున్న దేవుళ్ళను పూజించి మిమ్మల్ని మీరు అపవిత్రం చేసుకోకుండా ఉండండి.

19 I am Yahweh your God, walk in my statutes; keep my decrees and obey them.

౧౯మీ దేవుడనైన యెహోవాను నేనే గనుక నా కట్టడలను అనుసరించి నా విధులను పాటించి, నేను నియమించిన విశ్రాంతి దినాలు ఆచరించండి.

20 Keep my Sabbaths holy so that they will be a sign between me and you, so that you will know that I am Yahweh your God.”

౨౦నేను మీ దేవుడనైన యెహోవానని మీరు తెలుసుకునేలా ఆ విశ్రాంతిదినాలు నాకూ, మీకూ మధ్య సూచనగా ఉంటాయి.

21 But their sons and daughters rebelled against me. They did not walk in my statutes or keep my decrees, by which a man might live if he obeys them. They profaned my Sabbaths, so I determined to pour out my fury upon them to satisfy my wrath against them in the wilderness.

౨౧అయినా వాళ్ళ కొడుకులు, కూతుళ్ళు కూడా నా మీద తిరగబడి, తాము అనుసరించి జీవించాలని నేనిచ్చిన నా కట్టడలు అనుసరించకుండా, నా విధులను పాటించకుండా, నేను నియమించిన విశ్రాంతి దినాలను అపవిత్రం చేశారు గనుక, వాళ్ళు ఎడారిలో ఉండగానే నేను నా ఉగ్రత వాళ్ళ మీద కుమ్మరించి, వాళ్ళ మీద నా కోపం తీర్చుకోవాలని అనుకున్నాను.

22 But I turned my hand away and acted for my name's sake, so it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought out the Israelites.

౨౨కాని నేను ప్రత్యక్షమైన అన్యప్రజల మధ్య నా పేరుకు అవమానం కలగకుండా ఉండేలా, ఏ ప్రజల్లోనుంచి వాళ్ళను రప్పించానో, ఆ ప్రజలు చూస్తూ ఉండగా నా చెయ్యి వెనక్కు తీసి నా వాగ్దానం నెరవేర్చాను.

23 I myself also lifted up my hand to swear to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them among the lands.

౨౩వాళ్ళు నా విధులు అనుసరించకుండా, నా కట్టడలు తృణీకరించి, నేను విధించిన విశ్రాంతిదినాలను అపవిత్రం చేసి,

24 I decided to do this since they had not obeyed my decrees, and since they had rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths. Their eyes were longing after their fathers' idols.

౨౪తమ పితరులు పెట్టుకున్న విగ్రహాలు పూజించాలని కోరుకున్నప్పుడు, అన్యప్రజల్లోకి వాళ్ళను చెదరగొట్టి, ప్రతి దేశంలోకీ వాళ్ళను వెళ్ళగొడతానని ప్రమాణం చేశాను.

25 Then I also gave them statutes that were not good, and decrees by which they could not live.

౨౫తరువాత నేను యెహోవానని వాళ్ళు తెలుసుకునేలా, మంచివి కాని కట్టడలు, బ్రతకడానికి అనుకూలం కాని విధులు వాళ్ళకు ఇచ్చాను.

26 I declared them to be unclean through their gifts—they made a sacrifice of every firstborn of the womb and caused them to pass through the fire—that I might fill them with horror so they will know that I am Yahweh!'

౨౬మొదట పుట్టిన పిల్లలను మంటల్లోనుంచి దాటించి బలి అర్పించడం ద్వారా తమ్మును తాము అపవిత్రం చేసుకోనిచ్చాను.”

27 Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: In this also your fathers blasphemed me when they were unfaithful to me.

౨౭కాబట్టి నరపుత్రుడా, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో మాట్లాడి, ఇలా ప్రకటించు. “ప్రభువైన యెహోవా చెప్పేదేమంటే, మీ పితరులు నా పట్ల అతిక్రమం చేసి, నన్ను దూషించి,

28 When I brought them into the land that I had sworn to give them, and then whenever they saw any high hill and leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices, they provoked me by their offerings, and there they also burned their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.

౨౮వాళ్లకు ఇస్తానని నేను ప్రమాణపూర్వకంగా చెప్పిన దేశంలోకి నేను వాళ్ళను రప్పించిన తరువాత, ఒక ఎత్తయిన కొండను గాని, ఒక దట్టమైన చెట్టును గాని వాళ్ళు చూసినప్పుడెల్లా బలులు అర్పిస్తూ, అర్పణలు అర్పిస్తూ, అక్కడ పరిమళ ధూపం వేస్తూ, పానార్పణలు చేస్తూ, నాకు కోపం పుట్టించారు.”

29 Then I said to them, “What is this high place where you bring offerings there?” So the name is called Bamah to this day.'

౨౯అప్పుడు నేను వాళ్ళతో “మీరు బలులు తీసుకొస్తున్న ఈ ఉన్నత స్థలాలు ఏంటి?” అని అడిగాను. కాబట్టి దానికి “బామా” అనే పేరు ఈ రోజు వరకూ వాడుకలో ఉంది.

30 Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Why do you make yourselves unclean with the ways of your fathers? So why do you act like prostitutes, searching for disgusting things?

౩౦కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు ఈ మాట ప్రకటించు. “ప్రభువైన యెహోవా చెప్పేదేమంటే, మీ పితరుల విధానంలోనే మీరూ అపవిత్రులు అయ్యారు. వాళ్ళు పెట్టుకున్న విగ్రహాలను అనుసరిస్తూ మీరూ వ్యభిచారులయ్యారు.

31 When you offer up your gifts—when you cause your sons to pass through the fire—to this day you defile yourselves with all your idols. So why should I let you seek me, house of Israel? As I live—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—I will not allow you to seek me.

౩౧ఈనాటి వరకూ మీరు అర్పణలు అర్పించి మీ కొడుకులను అగ్నిగుండా దాటించేటప్పుడు మీరు పెట్టుకున్న విగ్రహాలన్నిటికీ పూజ చేసి అపవిత్రులయ్యారు. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులారా, మీరు నా దగ్గరికి వచ్చి నన్ను యోచన అడుగుతున్నారా? నా జీవం తోడు, నానుంచి మీకు ఏ ఆలోచనా దొరకదు. ఇదే ప్రభువైన యెహోవా వాక్కు.

32 The thought that is forming in your mind will never happen. You say, “Let us be like the other nations, like the clans in the other lands who worship wood and stone.”

౩౨‘అన్యప్రజలు, భూమి మీద ఇతర జాతులూ చేస్తున్నట్టు మేము కూడా కొయ్యకూ, రాళ్లకూ పూజిస్తాం’ అని మీరు అనుకుంటున్నారు. మీ మనస్సులో ఏర్పడుతున్న ఈ ఆలోచన ఎన్నటికీ నెరవేరదు.

33 As I live—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—I will certainly reign over you with a mighty hand, a raised arm, and fury that will be poured out on you.

౩౩నా జీవం తోడు, నా బలమైన చేతితో, ఉగ్రతతో, ఎత్తిన చేతితో నీ మీద రాజ్యపాలన చేస్తాను.

34 I will bring you out from the other peoples and will gather you out of the countries among whom you have been scattered. I will do this with a mighty hand and with fury poured out.

౩౪నేను ఉగ్రత కుమ్మరిస్తూ, బలమైన చేతితోనూ, ఎత్తిన చేతితోనూ మిమ్మల్ని చెదరగొట్టిన అనేక దేశాల్లోనుంచ, ప్రజల్లోనుంచి నేను మిమ్మల్ని సమకూర్చి

35 Then I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will judge you face to face.

౩౫జనాలున్న ఎడారిలోకి మిమ్మల్ని రప్పించి, అక్కడ ముఖాముఖిగా మీకు తీర్పు చెబుతాను. ఇదే యెహోవా వాక్కు.

36 As I judged your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so also I will judge you—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.

౩౬ఐగుప్తీయుల దేశపు ఎడారిలో నేను మీ పితరులకు తీర్పు చెప్పినట్టు మీకూ తీర్పు చెబుతాను.” ఇదే ప్రభువైన యెహోవా వాక్కు.

37 I will cause you to pass under my rod, and I will make you obey the requirements of the covenant.

౩౭“నా చేతి కర్ర కింద మిమ్మల్ని దాటించి నిబంధన ఒడంబడికలోకి మిమ్మల్ని తీసుకొస్తాను.

38 I will purge from among you the rebels and those who revolt against me. I will send them out from the land where they are staying as foreigners, but they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

౩౮నా మీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసేవాళ్ళనూ, దోషం చేసేవాళ్ళనూ, మీలో ఉండకుండాా ప్రక్షాళన చేస్తాను. వారు కాపురమున్న దేశంలో నుంచి వాళ్ళను రప్పిస్తాను గాని, నేను యెహోవానని మీరు తెలుసుకునేలా, వారు ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశంలో ప్రవేశించరు.”

39 So to you, house of Israel, the Lord Yahweh says this: Each of you should go to his own idols. Worship them if you will refuse to listen to me, but you must no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and your idols.

౩౯ఇశ్రాయేలు ఇంటివారలారా, ప్రభువైన యెహోవా మీతో చెప్పేదేమంటే “మీరు నామాట వినకపోతే, మీరు పెట్టుకున్న విగ్రహాలు మీ కిష్టమైనట్టుగా పూజించుకోండి, కాని మీ అర్పణల వల్ల, మీ విగ్రహాల వల్ల, నా పవిత్రమైన పేరును అపవిత్రం చెయ్యొద్దు.”

40 For on my holy mountain, on the mountain peak of Israel—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—all of the house of Israel will worship me there in the land. I will be pleased to require your offerings there, and also the firstfruits of your tribute with all your holy things.

౪౦ఇది ప్రభువైన యెహోవా వాక్కు. “ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల ఎత్తయిన నా పవిత్ర పర్వతం మీద దేశంలో ఉన్న ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల ఇంటి వాళ్ళందరూ నన్ను ఆరాధిస్తారు. అక్కడ నేను వాళ్ళ పట్ల సంతోషిస్తాను. అక్కడ మీ ప్రతిష్ఠిత అర్పణలు, మీ ప్రథమ ఫలదానాలూ, ప్రతిష్ఠిత కానుకలన్నీ నేను అంగీకరిస్తాను.

41 I will accept you like fragrant incense when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered. I will show myself as holy among you for the nations to see.

౪౧దేశాల్లో నుంచి నేను మిమ్మల్ని రప్పించేటప్పుడు, మిమ్మల్ని చెదరగొట్టిన అనేక దేశాల్లో నుంచి మిమ్మల్ని సమకూర్చేటప్పుడు, ఒక పరిమళ ధూపంగా మిమ్మల్ని అంగీకరిస్తాను. అన్యప్రజల ఎదుటా, మీ మధ్యలోనూ, నన్ను నేను పవిత్రం చేసుకుంటాను.

42 Then, when I bring you to the land of Israel, to the land that I have lifted up my hand to swear to give to your fathers, you will know that I am Yahweh.

౪౨మీ పితరులకు ఇస్తానని నేను ప్రమాణపూర్వకంగా చెప్పిన దేశానికి, అంటే ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేశానికి నేను మిమ్మల్ని రప్పించేటప్పుడు, నేనే యెహోవానని మీరు తెలుసుకుంటారు.

43 There you will call to mind your conduct and all of your deeds by which you defiled yourselves, and you will despise yourselves in your own eyes for all your evil deeds that you have done.

౪౩అక్కడ చేరి, మీ ప్రవర్తనను, మిమ్మల్ని మీరు అపవిత్రం చేసుకున్న మీ పనులన్నిటినీ గుర్తు చేసుకుని మీరు చేసిన చెడుపనులన్నిటిని బట్టి మిమ్మల్ని మీరే అసహ్యించుకుంటారు.

44 So you will know that I am Yahweh when I do this to you because of my name's sake, and not because of your evil deeds, and not because of your corrupt deeds, house of Israel—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.'”

౪౪ఇశ్రాయేలీయులారా, మీ దుర్మార్గతను బట్టి, మీ చెడు చేష్టలను బట్టి కాక నా పేరును బట్టి మాత్రమే నేను మీ పట్ల ఈ విధంగా చేసినప్పుడు, నేనే యెహోవానని మీరు తెలుసుకుంటారు.”

45 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

౪౫ఇదే యెహోవా వాక్కు. యెహోవా వాక్కు మళ్ళీ నాకు వినిపించింది.

46 “Son of man, set your face toward the southern lands, and speak against the south; prophesy against the forest of the Negev.

౪౬“నరపుత్రుడా, నీ ముఖం దక్షిణం వైపు తిప్పుకుని దక్షిణ దేశానికి ప్రకటించు, దక్షిణ దేశపు ఎడారి అరణ్యాన్ని గూర్చి ప్రవచించి ఇలా చెప్పు,

47 Say to the forest of the Negev, 'This is Yahweh's declaration—the Lord Yahweh says this: See, I will set a fire among you. It will devour every fresh tree and every dried tree among you. The fiery flame will not be quenched; every face from the south to the north will be burned.

౪౭దక్షిణ దేశమా, యెహోవా మాట ఆలకించు, ప్రభువైన యెహోవా చెప్పేదేమంటే, నీలో అగ్ని రగిలిస్తాను. అది నీలో ఉన్న పచ్చని పళ్ళ చెట్లన్నిటినీ, ఎండిన చెట్లన్నిటినీ కాల్చేస్తుంది. అది ఆరిపోదు. దక్షిణం మొదలుకుని ఉత్తరం వరకూ భూతలమంతా ఆ భీకరమైన అగ్ని దహిస్తుంది.

48 Then all flesh will see that I am Yahweh when I light the fire, and it will not be quenched.'”

౪౮అది ఆరిపోకుండా ఉండగా యెహోవానైన నేను దాన్ని రగిలించానని మనుషులందరూ చూస్తారు.”

49 Then I said, “Alas! Lord Yahweh, they are saying of me, 'Is he not a mere teller of parables?'”

౪౯అప్పుడు నేను ఇలా అన్నాను “అయ్యో ప్రభూ, యెహోవా, వాళ్ళు నా గురించి, ‘వీడు కేవలం ఉపమానాలు చెప్పేవాడేగదా?’ అంటున్నారు.”
