John 16
1 These thinges have I sayde vnto you because ye shuld not be offended.
Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin qu’elles ne soient pas pour vous une occasion de chute.
2 They shall excomunicat you: ye ye tyme shall come that whosoever killeth you will thinke that he doth God service.
Ils vous excluront des synagogues; et même l’heure vient où quiconque vous fera mourir croira rendre un culte à Dieu.
3 And suche thinges will they do vnto you because they have not knowen the father nether yet me.
Et ils agiront ainsi, parce qu’ils n’ont connu ni le Père ni moi.
4 But these thinges have I tolde you that when that houre is come ye myght remember them that I tolde you so. These thinges sayde I not unto you at the begynninge because I was present with you.
Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que, lorsque l’heure sera venue, vous vous souveniez que je vous les ai dites. Je ne vous en ai pas parlé dès le commencement, parce que j’étais avec vous.
5 But now I goo my waye to him that sent me and none of you axeth me: whither goest thou?
Maintenant je m’en vais vers celui qui m’a envoyé, et aucun de vous ne me demande: Où vas-tu?
6 But because I have sayde suche thinges vnto you youre hertes are full of sorowe.
Mais, parce que je vous ai dit ces choses, la tristesse a rempli votre cœur.
7 Neverthelesse I tell you the trueth it is expedient for you that I goo awaye. For yf I goo not awaye that comforter will not come vnto you. But yf I departe I will sende him vnto you.
Cependant je vous dis la vérité: il vous est avantageux que je m’en aille, car si je ne m’en vais pas, le consolateur ne viendra pas vers vous; mais, si je m’en vais, je vous l’enverrai.
8 And when he is come he will rebuke ye worlde of synne and of rightwesnes and of iudgement.
Et quand il sera venu, il convaincra le monde en ce qui concerne le péché, la justice, et le jugement:
9 Of synne because they beleve not on me:
en ce qui concerne le péché, parce qu’ils ne croient pas en moi;
10 Of rightwesnes because I go to my father and ye shall se me no moare:
la justice, parce que je vais au Père, et que vous ne me verrez plus;
11 and of iudgement because the chefe ruler of this worlde is iudged all ready.
le jugement, parce que le prince de ce monde est jugé.
12 I have yet many thinges to saye vnto you: but ye canot beare them awaye now.
J’ai encore beaucoup de choses à vous dire, mais vous ne pouvez pas les porter maintenant.
13 How be it when he is come (I meane the sprete of truthe) he will leade yon into all trueth. He shall not speake of him selfe: but whatsoever he shall heare that shall he speake and he will shewe you thinges to come.
Quand le consolateur sera venu, l’Esprit de vérité, il vous conduira dans toute la vérité; car il ne parlera pas de lui-même, mais il dira tout ce qu’il aura entendu, et il vous annoncera les choses à venir.
14 He shall glorify me for he shall receave of myne and shall shewe vnto you.
Il me glorifiera, parce qu’il prendra de ce qui est à moi, et vous l’annoncera.
15 All thinges that ye father hath aremyne. Therfore sayd I vnto you that he shall take of myne and shewe vnto you.
Tout ce que le Père a est à moi; c’est pourquoi j’ai dit qu’il prend de ce qui est à moi, et qu’il vous l’annoncera.
16 After a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: For I goo to the father.
Encore un peu de temps, et vous ne me verrez plus; et puis encore un peu de temps, et vous me verrez, parce que je vais au Père.
17 Then sayd some of his disciples bitwene them selves: what is this yt he sayth vnto vs after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: and that I go to the father.
Là-dessus, quelques-uns de ses disciples dirent entre eux: Que signifie ce qu’il nous dit: Encore un peu de temps, et vous ne me verrez plus; et puis encore un peu de temps, et vous me verrez? Et: Parce que je vais au Père?
18 They sayd therfore: what is this that he sayth after a whyle? we canot tell what he sayth.
Ils disaient donc: Que signifie ce qu’il dit: Encore un peu de temps? Nous ne savons de quoi il parle.
19 Iesus perceaved yt they wolde axe him and sayd vnto them: This is it that ye enquyre of bitwene youre selves that I sayd after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
Jésus connut qu’ils voulaient l’interroger, et il leur dit: Vous vous questionnez les uns les autres sur ce que j’ai dit: Encore un peu de temps, et vous ne me verrez plus; et puis encore un peu de temps, et vous me verrez.
20 Verely verely I saye vnto you: ye shall wepe and lamet and the worlde shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe: but youre sorowe shalbe tourned to ioye.
En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, vous pleurerez et vous vous lamenterez, et le monde se réjouira: vous serez dans la tristesse, mais votre tristesse se changera en joie.
21 A woman when she traveyleth hath sorowe because her houre is come: but assone as she is delivered of the chylde she remembreth no moare the anguysshe for ioye that a man is borne in to the worlde
La femme, lorsqu’elle enfante, éprouve de la tristesse, parce que son heure est venue; mais, lorsqu’elle a donné le jour à l’enfant, elle ne se souvient plus de la souffrance, à cause de la joie qu’elle a de ce qu’un homme est né dans le monde.
22 And ye now are in sorowe: but I will se you agayne and youre hertes shall reioyce and youre ioye shall no ma take fro you.
Vous donc aussi, vous êtes maintenant dans la tristesse; maisje vous reverrai, et votre cœur se réjouira, et nul ne vous ravira votre joie.
23 And in that daye shall ye axe me no question. Verely verely I saye vnto you whatsoever ye shall axe the father in my name he will geve it you
En ce jour-là, vous ne m’interrogerez plus sur rien. En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, ce que vous demanderez au Père, il vous le donnera en mon nom.
24 Hitherto have ye axed nothinge in my name. Axe and ye shall receave it: that youre ioye maye be full.
Jusqu’à présent vous n’avez rien demandé en mon nom. Demandez, et vous recevrez, afin que votre joie soit parfaite.
25 These thinges have I spoken vnto you in proverbes. The tyme will come when I shall no moare speake to you in proverbes: but I shall shewe you playnly from my father.
Je vous ai dit ces choses en paraboles. L’heure vient où je ne vous parlerai plus en paraboles, mais où je vous parlerai ouvertement du Père.
26 At that daye shall ye axe in myne name. And I saye not vnto you that I will speake vnto my father for you
En ce jour, vous demanderez en mon nom, et je ne vous dis pas que je prierai le Père pour vous;
27 For ye father him selfe loveth you because ye have loved me and have beleved that I came out from God.
car le Père lui-même vous aime, parce que vous m’avez aimé, et que vous avez cru que je suis sorti de Dieu.
28 I went out from the father and came into the worlde: and I leve the worlde agayne and go to ye father.
Je suis sorti du Père, et je suis venu dans le monde; maintenant je quitte le monde, et je vais au Père.
29 His disciples sayd vnto him: loo now speakest thou playnly and thou vsest no proverbe.
Ses disciples lui dirent: Voici, maintenant tu parles ouvertement, et tu n’emploies aucune parabole.
30 Nowe knowe we that thou vnderstondest all thinges and nedest not yt eny man shuld axe the eny question. Therfore beleve we that thou camst fro god.
Maintenant nous savons que tu sais toutes choses, et que tu n’as pas besoin que personne t’interroge; c’est pourquoi nous croyons que tu es sorti de Dieu.
31 Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleve.
Jésus leur répondit: Vous croyez maintenant.
32 Beholde ye houre draweth nye and is already come yt ye shalbe scatered every man his wayes and shall leave me alone. And yet am I not alone. For ye father is with me.
Voici, l’heure vient, et elle est déjà venue, où vous serez dispersés chacun de son côté, et où vous me laisserez seul; mais je ne suis pas seul, car le Père est avec moi.
33 These wordes have I spoke vnto you yt in me ye might have peace. For in ye worlde shall ye have tribulacio: but be of good cheare I have over come the worlde.
Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que vous ayez la paix en moi. Vous aurez des tribulations dans le monde; mais prenez courage, j’ai vaincu le monde.
