Luke 1
1 To his Excellency, Theophilus. Many attempts have been already made to draw up an account of those events which have reached their conclusion among us,
Poněvadž mnozí usilovali sepsati pořádně vypravování těch věcí, kteréž u nás jisté jsou,
2 just as they were reported to us by those who from the beginning were eye-witnesses, and afterwards became bearers of the Message.
Jakž nám vydali ti, kteříž od počátku sami viděli, a služebníci toho Slova byli:
3 And, therefore, I also, since I have investigated all these events with great care from their very beginning, have resolved to write a connected history of them for you,
Vidělo se i mně, kterýž jsem toho všeho pravé povědomosti z gruntu bedlivě došel, tobě o tom pořádně vypsati, výborný Teofile,
4 in order that you may be able to satisfy yourself of the accuracy of the story which you have heard from the lips of others.
Abys zvěděl jistotu těch věcí, jimž jsi vyučován.
5 In the reign of Herod, King of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the Division called after Abijah. His wife, whose name was Elizabeth, was also a descendant of Aaron.
Byl za dnů Heródesa krále Judského kněz nějaký, jménem Zachariáš, z třídy Abiášovy, a manželka jeho ze dcer Aronových, a jméno její Alžběta.
6 They were both righteous people, who lived blameless lives, guiding their steps by all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.
Byli pak oba spravedliví před oblíčejem Božím, chodíce ve všech přikázaních a spravedlnostech Páně bez ouhony.
7 But they had no child, Elizabeth being barren; and both of them were advanced in years.
A neměli plodu, proto že Alžběta byla neplodná, a oba se byli zstarali ve dnech svých.
8 One day, when Zechariah was officiating as priest before God, during the turn of his Division,
I stalo se, když on úřad kněžský konal v pořádku třídy své před Bohem,
9 it fell to him by lot, in accordance with the practice among the priests, to go into the Temple of the Lord and burn incense;
Že vedlé obyčeje úřadu kněžského los naň přišel, aby položil zápal, vejda do chrámu Páně.
10 and, as it was the Hour of Incense, the people were all praying outside.
A všecko množství lidu bylo vně, modlíce se v hodinu zápalu.
11 And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right of the Altar of Incense.
Tedy ukázal se jemu anděl Páně, stoje na pravé straně oltáře zápalu.
12 Zechariah was startled at the sight and was awe-struck.
A uzřev jej Zachariáš, zstrašil se, a bázeň připadla na něj.
13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth shall bear you a son, whom you shall call by the name John.
I řekl jemu anděl: Neboj se, Zachariáši, neboť jest uslyšána modlitba tvá, a Alžběta manželka tvá porodí tobě syna, a nazůveš jméno jeho Jan.
14 He shall be to you a joy and a delight; and many shall rejoice over his birth.
Z čehož budeš míti radost a veselé, a mnozí se z jeho narození budou radovati.
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord; he shall not drink any wine or strong drink, and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit from the very hour of his birth,
Bude zajisté veliký před oblíčejem Páně, a vína i nápoje opojného nebude píti, a Duchem svatým bude naplněn hned od života matky své.
16 and shall reconcile many of the Israelites to the Lord their God.
A mnohé z synů Izraelských obrátí ku Pánu Bohu jejich.
17 He shall go before him in the spirit and with the power of Elijah, ‘to reconcile fathers to their children’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, and so make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.”
Neboť on předejde před oblíčejem jeho v duchu a v moci Eliášově, aby obrátil srdce otců k synům, a nevěřící k opatrnosti spravedlivých, aby postavil Pánu lid hotový.
18 “How can I be sure of this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in years.”
I řekl Zachariáš andělu: Po čemž to poznám? Nebo já starý jsem, a manželka má zstarala se ve dnech svých.
19 “I am Gabriel,” the angel answered, “who stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
I odpověděv anděl, řekl jemu: Jáť jsem Gabriel, kterýž stojím před oblíčejem Božím, a poslán jsem, abych mluvil s tebou, a tyto věci veselé tobě zvěstoval.
20 And now you shall be silent and unable to speak until the day when this takes place, because you did not believe what I said, though my words will be fulfilled in due course.”
A aj, budeš němý, a nebudeš moci mluviti až do dne, v kterémž se tyto věci stanou, proto že jsi neuvěřil řečem mým, kteréž se naplní časem svým.
21 Meanwhile the people were watching for Zechariah, wondering at his remaining so long in the Temple.
Lid pak očekával Zachariáše, a divili se, že on tak prodléval v chrámě.
22 When he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision there. But Zechariah kept making signs to them, and remained dumb.
Vyšed pak, nemohl mluviti k nim. I srozuměli, že vidění viděl v chrámě. Nebo on návěští jim dával, a zůstal němý.
23 And, as soon as his term of service was finished, he returned home.
I stalo se, když se vyplnili dnové konání úřadu jeho, odšel do domu svého.
24 After this his wife, Elizabeth, expecting to become a mother, lived in seclusion for five months.
A po těch dnech počala Alžběta manželka jeho, a tajila se za pět měsíců, řkuci:
25 “This is what the Lord has done for me,” she said, “now that he has deigned to take away the reproach under which I have been living.”
Že tak mi učinil Pán ve dnech, v nichž vzezřel, aby odjal mé pohanění mezi lidmi.
26 Six months later the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,
V měsíci pak šestém poslán jest anděl Gabriel od Boha do města Galilejského, kterémuž jméno Nazarét,
27 to a maiden there who was betrothed to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. Her name was Mary.
Ku panně zasnoubené muži, kterémuž jméno bylo Jozef, z domu Davidova, a jméno panny Maria.
28 Gabriel came into her presence and said: “Hail, you who have been highly favoured! The Lord is with you.”
I všed k ní anděl, dí: Zdráva buď milostí obdařená, Pán s tebou, požehnaná ty mezi ženami.
29 Mary was much disturbed at his words, and was wondering to herself what such a greeting could mean,
Ona pak uzřevši ho, zarmoutila se nad řečí jeho, a myslila, jaké by to bylo pozdravení.
30 when the angel spoke again: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God.
I řekl jí anděl: Neboj se, Maria, nebo jsi nalezla milost u Boha.
31 And now, you shall be with child and give birth to a son, and you shall give him the name Jesus.
A počneš v životě, a porodíš syna, a nazůveš jméno jeho Ježíš.
32 The child shall be great and shall be called ‘Son of the Most High,’ and the Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David,
Tenť bude veliký, a Syn Nejvyššího slouti bude, a dáť jemu Pán Bůh stolici Davida otce jeho.
33 and he shall reign over the descendants of Jacob for ever; And to his kingdom there shall be no end.” (aiōn g165)
A kralovati bude v domě Jákobově na věky, a království jeho nebude konce. (aiōn g165)
34 “How can this be?” Mary asked the angel. “For I have no husband.”
I řekla Maria andělu: Kterak se to stane, poněvadž já muže nepoznávám?
35 “The Holy Spirit shall descend upon you,” answered the angel, “and the Power of the Most High shall overshadow you; and therefore the child will be called ‘holy,’ and ‘Son of God.’
A odpověděv anděl, řekl jí: Duch svatý sstoupí v tě, a moc Nejvyššího zastíní tobě; a protož i to, což se z tebe svatého narodí, slouti bude Syn Boží.
36 And Elizabeth, your cousin, is herself also expecting a son in her old age; and it is now the sixth month with her, though she is called barren;
A aj, Alžběta, přítelkyně tvá, i ona počala syna v starosti své, a tento jest jí šestý měsíc, kteráž sloula neplodná.
37 for no promise from God shall fail to be fulfilled.”
Neboť nebude nemožné u Boha žádné slovo.
38 “I am the servant of the Lord,” exclaimed Mary; “let it be with me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.
I řekla Maria: Aj, děvka Páně, staniž mi se podlé slova tvého. I odšel od ní anděl.
39 Soon after this Mary set out, and made her way quickly into the hill-country, to a town in Judah;
Tedy povstavši Maria v těch dnech, odešla na hory s chvátáním do města Judova.
40 and there she went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth.
I vešla do domu Zachariášova, a pozdravila Alžběty.
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child moved within her, and Elizabeth herself was filled with the Holy Spirit,
I stalo se, jakž uslyšela Alžběta pozdravení Marie, zplésalo nemluvňátko v životě jejím, a naplněna jest Duchem svatým Alžběta.
42 and cried aloud: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is your unborn child!
I zvolala hlasem velikým a řekla: Požehnaná ty mezi ženami, a požehnaný plod života tvého.
43 But how have I this honour, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
A odkud mi to, aby přišla matka Pána mého ke mně?
44 For, as soon as your greeting reached my ears, the child moved within me with delight!
Nebo aj, jakž se stal hlas pozdravení tvého v uších mých, zplésalo radostně nemluvňátko v životě mém.
45 Happy indeed is she who believed that the promise which she received from the Lord would be fulfilled.”
A blahoslavená, kteráž uvěřila, neboť dokonány budou ty věci, kteréž jsou povědíny jí ode Pána.
46 And Mary said: “My soul exalts the Lord,
Tedy řekla Maria: Velebí duše má Hospodina,
47 my spirit delights in God my Saviour;
A veselí se duch můj v Bohu, spasiteli svém,
48 for he has remembered his servant in her lowliness; And from this hour all ages will count me happy!
Že vzezřel na ponížení děvky své; neb aj, od této chvíle blahoslaviti mne budou všickni národové.
49 Great things has the Almighty done for me; And holy is his name.
Neboť mi učinil veliké věci ten, kterýž mocný jest, a svaté jméno jeho,
50 From age to age his mercy rests On those who reverence him.
A jehož milosrdenství od pokolení až do pokolení bojícím se jeho.
51 Mighty are the deeds of his arm; He scatters the proud with their own devices,
Dokázal moci ramenem svým, rozptýlil pyšné myšlením srdce jejich.
52 he casts down princes from their thrones, and the lowly he uplifts,
Sházel mocné s stolic, a povýšil ponížených.
53 the hungry he loads with gifts, and the rich he sends empty away.
Lačné nakrmil dobrými věcmi, a bohaté pustil prázdné.
54 He has stretched out his hand to his servant Israel, Ever mindful of his mercy
Přijal Izraele, služebníka svého, byv pamětliv na milosrdenství,
Jakož mluvil otcům našim, Abrahamovi a semeni jeho na věky. (aiōn g165)
56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months, and then returned to her home.
I zůstala Maria s ní asi za tři měsíce, a navrátila se do domu svého.
57 When Elizabeth’s time came, she gave birth to a son;
Alžbětě pak naplnil se čas, aby porodila, i porodila syna.
58 and her neighbours and relations, hearing of the great goodness of the Lord to her, came to share her joy.
A uslyšeli sousedé a přátelé její, že Hospodin veliké učinil s ní milosrdenství své, i radovali se spolu s ní.
59 A week later they met to circumcise the child, and were about to call him ‘Zechariah’ after his father,
Stalo se pak v den osmý, přišli obřezovati dítěte, a nazývali jej jménem otce jeho Zachariášem.
60 when his mother interposed: “No, he is to be called John.”
Ale odpověděvši matka jeho, řekla: Nikoli, ale slouti bude Jan.
61 “You have no relation of that name!” they exclaimed;
I řekli jí: Však žádného není v rodu tvém, kterýž by sloul jménem tím.
62 and they made signs to the child’s father, to find out what he wished the child to be called.
I dávali návěští otci jeho, jak by ho chtěl nazývati.
63 Asking for a writing-tablet, he wrote the words — ‘His name is John.’ Every one was surprised;
A on požádav deštičky, napsal, řka: Jan jest jméno jeho. I divili se všickni.
64 and immediately Zechariah recovered his voice and the use of his tongue, and began to bless God.
A hned otevřela se ústa jeho a jazyk jeho, i mluvil, velebě Boha.
65 All their neighbours were awe-struck at this; and throughout the hill-country of Judea the whole story was much talked about;
Tedy přišla bázeň na všecky sousedy jejich, a po všech horách Judských rozhlásána jsou všecka ta slova.
66 and all who heard it kept it in mind, asking one another — “What can this child be destined to become?” For the Power of the Lord was with him.
A všickni, kteříž o tom slyšeli, skládali to v srdci svém, řkouce: I jaké dítě toto bude? A ruka Páně byla s ním.
67 Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and, speaking under inspiration, said:
Zachariáš pak otec jeho naplněn jest Duchem svatým, a prorokoval, řka:
68 “Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, Who has visited his people and wrought their deliverance,
Požehnaný Pán Bůh Izraelský, že navštívil a učinil vykoupení lidu svému.
69 and has raised up for us the Strength of our Salvation In the House of his servant David —
A vyzdvihl nám roh spasení v domě Davida, služebníka svého,
Jakož mluvil skrze ústa proroků svých svatých, kteříž byli od věků, (aiōn g165)
71 Salvation from our enemies and from the hands of all that hate us,
O vysvobození z nepřátel našich, a z ruky všech, kteříž nás nenáviděli,
72 showing mercy to our forefathers, And mindful of his sacred Covenant.
Aby učinil milosrdenství s otci našimi, a rozpomenul se na smlouvu svou svatou,
73 This was the oath which he swore to our forefather Abraham —
Na přísahu, kterouž přisáhl Abrahamovi, otci našemu, žeť nám to dá,
74 That we should be rescued from the hands of our enemies,
Abychom bez strachu, z ruky nepřátel svých jsouce vysvobozeni, sloužili jemu,
75 and should serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness, In his presence all our days.
V svatosti a v spravedlnosti před oblíčejem jeho, po všecky dny života svého.
76 And thou, Child, shalt be called Prophet of the Most High, For thou shalt go before the Lord to make ready his way,
Ty pak, dítě, prorokem Nejvyššího slouti budeš, nebo předejdeš před tváří Páně připravovati cesty jeho,
77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation In the forgiveness of their sins,
Aby dáno bylo umění spasitelné lidu jeho na odpuštění hříchů jejich,
78 through the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the Dawn will break on us from Heaven,
Skrze střeva milosrdenství Boha našeho, v nichž navštívil nás, vyšed z výsosti,
79 to give light to those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, And guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Aby se ukázal sedícím v temnostech a v stínu smrti, k spravení noh našich na cestu pokoje.
80 The child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the Wilds till the time came for his appearance before Israel.
Dítě pak rostlo, a posilovalo se v duchu, a bylo na poušti až do dne zjevení svého lidu Izraelskému.
