< Psalms 18 >

1 Yahweh, I love you, the one who enables me to be strong.
Ho an’ ny mpiventy hira. Nataon’ i Davida, mpanompon’ i Jehovah, izay nilaza tamin’ i Jehovah ny tenin’ ity fihirana ity tamin’ ny andro namonjen’ i Jehovah azy tamin’ ny tanan’ ny fahavalony rehetra, indrindra fa tamin’ ny tanan’ i Saoly; dia hoy izy: ―
2 Yahweh is like an [overhanging] rock [DOU, MET] [under which I can hide from my enemies]; he is like a strong fortress, the one who protects me; he protects me like a shield [MET] [protects a soldier]; he is the one to whom I go (for refuge/to be protected/safe), and he defends me by his great power [IDM].
Jehovah no harambatoko sy batery fiarovana ho ahy ary Mpamonjy ahy; Andriamanitro, vatolampy ialofako, sy ampingako ary tandroka famonjena ahy sy fiarovana avo ho ahy.
3 I called out to Yahweh, who deserves to be praised, and he rescued me from my enemies.
Miantso an’ i Jehovah izay mendrika hoderaina aho, ka dia vonjena ho afaka amin’ ny fahavaloko.
4 All around me were dangerous situations in which I might be killed [PRS]; it was as though there were huge waves [MET] that almost crashed on me and killed me.
Nihodidina tamiko ny famatoram-pahafatesana, ary ny riaky ny faharatsiana nampahatahotra ahy.
5 [It was as though] the place where dead people are had ropes that were wrapped around me, or [it was as though] there was a trap [MET] that would [seize and] kill me. (Sheol h7585)
Ny famatoran’ ny fiainan-tsi-hita nihodidina tamiko; nisakana ahy ny fandriky ny fahafatesana. (Sheol h7585)
6 But when I was very distressed, I called out to Yahweh, and from his temple he heard me. He listened to me when I cried out [for help].
Fony azom-pahoriana aho, dia niantso an’ i Jehovah, eny, Andriamanitro no nitarainako; nihaino ny feoko tao an-tempoliny Izy, ary ny fitarainako teo anatrehany dia efa tonga teo an-tsofiny.
7 Then the earth quaked/shook strongly [DOU]; the mountains shook very strongly from their centers [DOU] because Yahweh was angry.
Dia nihozongozona sy nihorohoro ny tany, ary ny fanambanin’ ny tendrombohitra nihorohoro; eny, nihozongozona ireo, satria tezitra Jehovah.
8 [It was as though] smoke poured out from his nostrils, and [as though] burning coals came out of his mouth.
Nisy setroka nisavoana teo am-bavorony, ary afo avy teo am-bavany no nandevona ka nisy vainafo nidedadeda teo aminy.
9 He opened the sky and came down with a black cloud under his feet.
Dia naondriny ny lanitra, ka nidina Izy; ary aizim-pito no teo ambanin’ ny tongony.
10 He flew, riding on the back of a creature that had wings, traveling [fast], blown along by the wind.
Dia nitaingina kerobima Izy ka nanidina; eny, nanidina faingana tamin’ ny ela-drivotra Izy.
11 Darkness was all around him [like a blanket] [MET]; dark clouds, full of moisture, covered him [MET].
Efa nanao ny maizina ho fiereny sy tranony manodidina Azy Izy, dia rahona ngalingaly rahona matevina.
12 Hailstones and flashes of lightning were around him; hail and burning coals fell from the sky.
Ary teo amin’ ny famirapiratana teo anatrehany dia nandalo ny rahony matevina havandra sy vainafo.
13 Then Yahweh [spoke in a loud voice] from the sky, and [his enemies] heard his voice that sounded like thunder.
Dia nampikotroka tany an-danitra Jehovah, ny Avo Indrindra niloa-peo. Havandra sy vainafo.
14 He shot his arrows at them and caused them to scatter; His flashes of lightning caused them to become very confused (OR, to run away).
Dia nandefa ny zana-tsipìkany Izy ka nampiely ny fahavaloko. Ary nampandeha helatra be ka nampifanaritaka azy.
15 The bottom of the ocean became visible, and the foundations of the earth were uncovered, when Yahweh rebuked his enemies when he snorted.
Dia hita ny mason-drano, ary niseho ny fanambanin’ ny tany noho ny teny mafy nataonao, Jehovah ô, noho ny fifofofofon’ ny fofonain’ ny vavoronao.
16 [It was as though] he reached down from heaven and grabbed me and pulled me up out of the deep ocean.
Naninjitra ny tanany avy tany ambony Izy ka nandray ahy; nanintona ahy niala tamin’ ny rano be Izy;
17 He rescued me from my strong enemies who hated me; they were very strong, with the result that I [could not defeat them].
Namonjy ahy tamin’ ny fahavaloko mahery Izy sy tamin’ izay nankahala ahy, satria tsy leoko ireny
18 When I (was distressed/had troubles), they attacked me, but Yahweh defended/protected me.
Nisakana ahy tamin’ ny andro nahitako loza ireny, nefa Jehovah no niseho ho Mpanohana ahy.
19 He led me to a place where I was safe; he rescued me because he was pleased with me.
Dia nitondra ahy ho any amin’ ny malalaka Izy; namonjy ahy Izy, satria tiany aho.
20 Yahweh has rewarded me because I do what is right; he has blessed me because I (am innocent/have not done things that are wrong).
Nanisy soa ahy araka ny fahamarinako Jehovah; araka ny fahadiovan’ ny tanako no namaliany ahy.
21 I have obeyed Yahweh’s laws; I have not abandoned him.
Fa nitandrina ny lalan’ i Jehovah aho, ka tsy mba nanao ratsy hialana tamin’ Andriamanitro;
22 My behavior was directed by his rules; I have not stopped obeying them.
Ny fitsipiny rehetra dia teo anatrehako, ary ny lalàny tsy mba nampialaiko tamiko;
23 He knows that I have not done what is wrong; I have kept myself from sinning.
Tsy nanan-tsiny taminy aho sady niaro tena tsy ho azon’ ny fahotako;
24 So he rewards me because I do what is right; he knows that I [SYN] have not committed sins.
Koa namaly ahy araka ny fahamarinako Jehovah, dia araka ny fahadiovan’ ny tanako teo imasony.
25 Yahweh, you are faithful to those who faithfully [do what you tell them to do]; you always do what is good/right to those who do what you want them to do.
Ny olona tsara no isehoanao fa tsara; ny tena olo-marina no isehoanao fa marina;
26 You are kind to those who are kind to others, but you act wisely toward those who (act perversely/do bad things).
Ny madio no isehoanao fa madio; ary ny mpiolakolaka kosa no isehoanao fa lalin-tsaina.
27 You save those who are humble, but you cause those who are proud to be humiliated/ashamed.
Fa Hianao mamonjy ny olona ory; ary ny maso miandranandrana kosa aetrinao.
28 You give light to my [soul/spirit]; you take away the darkness of my soul.
Fa Hianao mampirehitra ny jiroko; Jehovah Andriamanitro no mampahazava ny fahamaizinako.
29 You enable me to be strong, with the result that I can run and attack a line of enemy soldiers; with your help I can (scale/climb up) the walls [that surround my enemies’ cities].
Fa Hianao no ahazoako mitsarapaka hamely ny miaramila iray toko; ary Andriamanitro no ahazoako mitsambikina mihoatra ny manda.
30 Everything that Yahweh my God does is perfect. We can depend on him to do what he promises. He is like a shield [MET] to protect all those who go to him for refuge.
Raha ny amin’ Andriamanitra, dia marina ny lalany; ny tenin’ i Jehovah dia voazaha toetra amin’ ny memy; Jehovah no ampingan’ izay rehetra mialoka aminy.
31 Yahweh is [RHQ] the only one who is God; only he is like an [overhanging] rock [under which we can be safe].
Fa iza no Andriamanitra afa-tsy Jehovah? ary iza no vatolampy afa-tsy Andriamanitsika?
32 God is the one who enables me to be strong and who keeps me safe on the roads that I walk on.
Izany Andriamanitra izany no mampisikina hery ahy sy manamarina ny alehako.
33 He enables me to [walk swiftly without stumbling], like a deer walks/runs in the mountains.
Manao ny tongotro ho tahaka ny an’ ny dieravavy Izy ka mampitoetra ahy eo amin’ ny fitoerako avo.
34 He teaches me how to use a strong/metal bow in order that I can use it to fight in battles.
Mampianatra ny tanako hiady Izy, ka mahahenjana tsipìka varahina ny sandriko.
35 Yahweh, you protect and save me with your shield; you have made me safe by your power [MTY]. I have become (strong/a great [king]) because you have helped me.
Omenao ahy ny ampingan’ ny famonjenao; ny tananao ankavanana no manohana ahy, ary ny fahamoram-panahinao no mahalehibe ahy.
36 You have cleared the road for me, with the result that now I do not slip/stumble.
Halalahinao ny lalana hodiaviko, ka tsy mangovitra ny hato-tongotro.
37 I have pursued my enemies and caught them; I did not stop until I had defeated/killed them all.
Manenjika ny fahavaloko aho ka mahatratra azy; ary tsy mba miverina aho mandra-pahalàny ritrany.
38 When I strike them, they are not able to get up again; they lie on the ground, defeated.
Mamely mafy azy aho, ka tsy mahaleo izy; lavo eo ambanin’ ny tongotro izy.
39 You have enabled me to be strong in order that I can fight battles and defeat my enemies.
Hianao mampisikina ahy hery hiady; aripakao ho ambaniko izay mitsangana hamely ahy.
40 You caused my enemies to run away (OR, you enabled me to put my foot on my enemies’ necks [after I captured them and forced them to lie on the ground]); I have gotten rid of all those who hated me.
Ary ataonao miamboho ahy ny fahavaloko; ka aringako izay mankahala ahy.
41 They called out for someone to help them, but no one saved them.
Mitaraina izy, fa tsy misy mpamonjy, dia amin’ i Jehovah, fa tsy mamaly azy Izy.
42 I pulverize them, with the result that they become like [MET] the dust that the wind [blows away]; I throw them out like [SIM] [people throw] dirt out into the streets.
Torotoroiko madinika tahaka ny vovoka entin’ ny rivotra izy; Tahaka ny fanary fotaka eny an-dalambe no fanariko azy.
43 You enabled me to defeat those who fought against me, and appointed me to be the ruler of [many]; people whom I did not know about previously are now slaves [in my kingdom].
Mamonjy ahy amin’ ny fifanoheran’ ny olona Hianao. Sy manandratra ahy ho lohan’ ny firenen-tsamy hafa; ny firenena tsy fantatro aza dia manompo ahy.
44 When foreigners hear about me, they (cringe/bow low before me) and they obey me.
Raha vao mahare ny lazako fotsiny ihany aza izy, dia manoa ahy; Ny hafa firenena mikoy ahy.
45 They are no longer courageous, and from their forts [where they were hiding] they come [to me] trembling.
Ny hafa firenena dia mihaketraka, ka miala amin-kovitra avy ao amin’ ny fiarovany mafy.
46 Yahweh is alive! Praise the one who is like an [overhanging] rock [MET] [under which I am safe] Exalt the God who saves me!
Velona Jehovah; isaorana anie ny Vatolampiko; asandratra anie Andriamanitry ny famonjena ahy,
47 He enables me to get revenge on my enemies; he causes me to defeat nations and to rule over them,
Dia Andriamanitra, Izay manao famaliana ho ahy ka mampanaiky ny firenena ahy.
48 and he rescues me from my enemies. He has lifted me up high so that violent men could not reach me [and harm me].
Mamonjy ahy amin’ ny fahavaloko Izy; eny, manandratra ahy ho ambonin’ izay mitsangana hanohitra ahy Hianao, ary mamonjy ahy amin’ ny olon-dozabe.
49 So I praise him [and I tell] the nations [the great things that he has done].
Koa izany no hiderako Anao eny amin’ ny firenen-tsamy hafa, Jehovah ô, sy hankalazako ny anaranao.
50 He has enabled me, his king, to powerfully defeat my enemies; he faithfully loves me, David, the one he has chosen [to be king], and he will faithfully love my descendants forever.
Manao famonjen-dehibe ho an’ ny mpanjaka voatendriny Izy, ary mamindra fo amin’ ny voahosony, dia amin’ i Davida sy ny taranany mandrakizay.
