Psalms 12
1 Yahweh, help us! [It seems that] people who are loyal to you have all vanished.
Para el director del coro. Al Seminit. Un salmo de David. ¡Señor, envía tu ayuda a todas las buenas personas que se han ido! Los que confían en ti han desaparecido de entre los pueblos de la tierra.
2 Everyone tells lies to other people; they deceive others by (flattering them/saying good things about them that they know are not true).
Todos le mienten a su prójimo. Los halagan con elogios. Pero no dicen lo que en realidad piensan.
3 Yahweh, we wish that you would cut off their tongues so that they cannot continue to boast.
Detén sus adulaciones, Señor, y silencia sus alardes.
4 They say, “By telling lies we will get what we want; we control what we say [MTY], so no one can tell us what we should not do!”
Ellos dicen: “Nuestras palabras nos llevarán al éxito, nuestras bocas nos pertenecen. ¡No seguimos órdenes de nadie!”
5 But Yahweh replies, “I have seen the violent things that they have done to helpless people; and I have heard those people groaning, so I will arise and rescue the people who are wanting me to help them.”
“A causa de la violencia que han sufrido los indefensos, y a causa de los gemidos de los pobres, me levantaré para defenderlos”, dice el Señor. “Les daré la protección que han estado anhelando”.
6 Yahweh, you always do what you have promised to do; what you have promised is [as precious and pure as] silver that has been heated seven times in a furnace [to get rid of all the] impure material.
La palabra del Señor es fiel, y es tan pura como la plata refinada siete veces en un horno.
7 Wicked people strut around [proudly], and people praise them for doing vile/wicked deeds, but Yahweh, [we know that] you will protect/rescue us from those wicked people.
Tú, Señor, mantendrás a los oprimidos a salvo; nos protegerás de este tipo de personas para siempre.
Aunque los malvados nos rodeen y el mal prospere por todas partes.
