< Exodus 6 >

1 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “Now you will see what I will do to the king [and his people]. I will powerfully [MTY] compel him to let my people go. In fact, by my power [MTY] [I will force] him to expel them from his land!”
Ary hoy Jehovah tamin’ i Mosesy: Ankehitriny ho hitanao izay hataoko amin’ i Farao; fa ny tanako mahery no handefasany azy, ary ny tanako mahery no handroahany azy amin’ ny taniny.
2 God also said to Moses/me, “I am Yahweh.
Ary Andriamanitra niteny tamin’ i Mosesy ka nanao hoe: Izaho no Jehovah;
3 I am the one who appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and [told them that I] was God Almighty, but I did not [tell] them that my name [was Yahweh].
ary tamin’ ny anarako hoe ANDRIAMANITRA TSITOHA no nisehoako tamin’ i Abrahama sy Isaka ary Jakoba, fa ny anarako hoe JEHOVAH tsy mbola nahafantarany Ahy,
4 I also made my solemn agreement with them, promising to give them the Canaan region. That was the area in which they were living as foreigners.
Ary naoriko taminy koa ny fanekeko hanomezako azy ny tany Kanana, dia ny tany fivahiniany izay efa nivahiniany.
5 Furthermore, I have heard the Israeli people as they were groaning [because of the hard work that] the Egyptians forced them to do as their slaves. I have thought about that solemn promise [that I made].
Ary koa, Izaho efa nandre ny fitarainan’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely, izay ampanompoin’ ny Egyptiana, ka dia tsaroako ny fanekeko.
6 So tell the Israeli people that [I said this: ] ‘I am Yahweh. I will free you from the burdens [of heavy work] that the Egyptians [have given you]. I will free you from being their slaves. With my great power [MTY] and by punishing them [MTY] very severely, I will save you.
Koa lazao amin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely hoe: Izaho no Jehovah, ary hitondra anareo hivoaka ho afaka amin’ ny fanompoana mafy ampanaovin’ ny Egyptiana anareo Aho ka hanafaka anareo amin’ ny fanompoana azy; ary sandry ahinjitra sy fitsarana lehibe no hamonjeko anareo.
7 I will cause you to be my own people, and I will be your God, [the one you worship]. You will truly know that I, Yahweh your God, am the one who has freed you from the burdens [of work as slaves] of the Egyptians.
Dia halaiko ho Ahy ianareo ho oloko, ary ho Andriamanitrareo Aho; dia ho fantatrareo fa Izaho no Jehovah Andriamanitrareo, Izay mitondra anareo mivoaka ho afaka amin’ ny fanompoana mafy ampanaovin’ ny Egyptiana anareo.
8 And I will bring you to the land that I solemnly promised to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. You will possess it [forever]. I, Yahweh, am [promising this].’”
Ary Izaho hampiditra anareo any amin’ ny tany izay nananganako tanàna homena an’ i Abrahama sy Isaka ary Jakoba; dia homeko ho lovanareo izany: Izaho no Jehovah.
9 Moses/I told that to the Israeli people, but they did not believe what he/I said. They were very discouraged [IDM] because of the hard work [that they had been forced to do as slaves].
Ary Mosesy nilaza izany tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely; nefa izy tsy nihaino an’ i Mosesy noho ny fahoriam-panahy sy ny fanompoana mafy.
10 Yahweh said to Moses/me,
Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy ka nanao hoe:
11 “Go and tell the king of Egypt [again] that he must allow the Israeli people to leave his land!”
Mankanesa ao amin’ i Farao, mpanjakan’ i Egypta, ka mitenena aminy mba handefasany ny Zanak’ Isiraely hiala amin’ ny taniny.
12 But Moses/I said to Yahweh, “Listen [to what I am saying]. [Even] the Israeli people have not paid attention to what I [told them]. But I am a poor speaker. [MET, MTY] So (why should the king pay attention to what I tell him?/the king will certainly not pay attention to what I [tell him]!)” [RHQ]
Ary Mosesy niteny teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Indro, ny Zanak’ Isiraely aza tsy nihaino ahy, ka ahoana no hihainoan’ i Farao ahy, fa izaho tsy voafora molotra?
13 But Yahweh spoke to Aaron and Moses/me and commanded them/us, “Tell the Israeli people and the king of Egypt that I have [commissioned you two] to lead the Israeli people out of Egypt.”
Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy sy Arona ka nanome teny azy ho entiny ho any amin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely sy ho amin’ i Farao, mpanjakan’ i Egypta, mba hitondra ny Zanak’ Isiraely hivoaka avy amin’ ny tany Egypta.
14 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of the ancestors of [Moses/me and Aaron]: The sons of Reuben, who was Jacob’s oldest son, [were] Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. They were [ancestors of] the clans [that have those same names].

16 These are the names of the sons of Levi, in the order in which they were born: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Levi was 137 years old [when he died].
Ary izao no anaran’ ny zanakalahin’ i Levy, araka ny taranany, dia Gersona sy Kehata ary Merary; ary ny andro niainan’ i Levy dia fito amby telo-polo amby zato taona.

Ary ny zanakalahin’ i Merary dia Maly sy Mosy. Ireo no fokom-pirenen’ ny Levita, araka ny taranany.
20 Amram married his father’s sister, Jochebed. She was the mother of Aaron and Moses/me. Amram was 137 years old [when he died].
Ary Amrama naka an’ i Jokebeda anabavin-drainy ho vadiny, dia niteraka an’ i Arona sy Mosesy taminy izy; ary ny andro niainan’ i Amrama dia fito amby telo-polo amby zato taona.

24 The sons of Korah [were] Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph. They were the ancestors of the Korah people-group.
Ary ny zanakalahin’ i Kora dia Asira sy Elkana ary Abiasafa; ireo no fokom-pirenen’ ny Korana.
25 Aaron’s son Eleazar married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she gave birth to Phinehas. [That ends the list of] the families and clans that were descended from Levi.
Ary Eleazara, zanakalahin’ i Arona, naka vady avy tamin’ ny zanakavavin’ i Potiela, dia niteraka an’ i Finehasa taminy izy. Ireo no lohan’ ny fianakavian’ ny Levita, araka ny fokom-pireneny.
26 Aaron and Moses/I were the ones to whom Yahweh said, “Lead all the families and clans of the Israeli people out of Egypt.”
Ireo no Arona sy Mosesy, izay nilazan’ i Jehovah hoe: Ento ny Zanak’ Isiraely hivoaka avy any amin’ ny tany Egypta araka ny antokony.
27 They/We were the ones who spoke to the king of Egypt about bringing the Israeli people out of Egypt.
Ireo no niteny tamin’ i Farao, mpanjakan’ i Egypta, mba hitondra ny Zanak’ Isiraely hivoaka avy any Egypta; ireo no Mosesy sy Arona.
28 On the day that Yahweh spoke to Moses/me in Egypt,
Ary tamin’ ny andro izay nitenenan’ i Jehovah tamin’ i Mosesy teo amin’ ny tany Egypta,
29 he said, “I am Yahweh. You must tell the king everything that I say to you.”
dia hoy Jehovah tamin’ i Mosesy: Izaho no Jehovah; koa lazao amin’ i Farao, mpanjakan’ i Egypta, izay rehetra lazaiko aminao.
30 But Moses/I said to Yahweh, “Listen to me. I am not a good speaker. [MET, MTY] So (the king will certainly not pay attention to what I say/why should the king pay attention to what I tell him?)!” [RHQ]
Ary Mosesy niteny teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Indro, tsy voafora molotra aho, ka aiza no hihainoan’ i Farao ahy!
