< Mark 16 >

1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint Jesus' body.
And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the [mother] of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
2 Very early in the morning of the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.
And very early in the morning, the first [day] of the week, they came to the sepulcher at the rising of the sun:
3 On the way, they were saying to one another, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb for us?”
And they said among themselves, Who shall roll away for us the stone from the door of the sepulcher?
4 But when they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled away.
(And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away) for it was very great.
5 As they went into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white robe, and they were alarmed.
And entering into the sepulcher, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were frightened.
6 But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen; he is not here. Behold, this is the place where they laid him.
And he saith to them, Be not frightened: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him:
7 And now go tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”
But go, tell his disciples and Peter, that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said to you.
8 So they went out and fled from the tomb, and trembling and amazement seized them. But they did not say anything to anyone, for they were afraid.
And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulcher; for they trembled, and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any [man]; for they were afraid.
9 (note: The most reliable and earliest manuscripts do not include Mark 16:9-20.) In the morning on the first day of the week, after Jesus had risen, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.
(note: The most reliable and earliest manuscripts do not include Mark 16:9-20.) Now when [Jesus] was risen early, the first [day] of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven demons.
10 She then went and told those who had been with him, while they were mourning and weeping.
[And] she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.
11 But when they heard that he was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.
And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen by her, believed not.
12 After this, Jesus appeared in a different form to two of his followers as they were walking along in the countryside.
After that, he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking and going into the country.
13 They went back and told the others, but they did not believe them either.
And they went and told [it] to the residue: neither believed they them.
14 Later Jesus appeared to the eleven as they were reclining at the table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen him after he had risen.
Afterward he appeared to the eleven, as they sat at table, and upbraided them with their unbelief, and hardness of heart, because they believed not them who had seen him after he was risen.
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
And he said to them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, they will speak in new tongues,
And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak in new languages;
18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will certainly not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 After the Lord had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked through them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it. Amen.
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with [them], and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
