Acts 8
1 But Shaol willed to take part in his killing. And there was made in those days a great persecution against the church that was in Urishlem; and they were all dispersed in the country of Jihud and also among the Shomroyee, excepting only the apostles.
Or Saul consentait à la mort d'Etienne, et en ce temps-là il se fit une grande persécution contre l'Eglise qui était à Jérusalem, et tous furent dispersés dans les quartiers de la Judée et de la Samarie; excepté les Apôtres.
2 And faithful men laid Estephanos in his tomb, and mourned over him greatly.
Et quelques hommes craignant Dieu emportèrent Etienne pour l'ensevelir, et menèrent un grand deuil sur lui.
3 BUT Shaol persecuted the church of Aloha, going to the houses, and drawing men and women delivered them to the house of the bound.
Mais Saul ravageait l'Eglise, entrant dans toutes les maisons, et traînant par force hommes et femmes, il les mettait en prison.
4 And they who were dispersed went about and preached the word of Aloha.
Ceux donc qui furent dispersés allaient çà et là annonçant la parole de Dieu.
5 But Philipos descended to a city of the Shomroyee, and preached concerning the Meshiha.
Et Philippe étant descendu en une ville de Samarie, leur prêcha Christ.
6 And when they heard his word, the men who were there attended to him, and were persuaded of all that he said: for they saw the signs that he wrought.
Et les troupes étaient toutes ensemble attentives à ce que Philippe disait, l'écoutant, et voyant les miracles qu'il faisait.
7 For many whom unclean spirits possessed cried with a high voice, and they came out from them; and others, palsied and lame, were healed:
Car les esprits immondes sortaient, en criant à haute voix, hors de plusieurs qui en étaient possédés, et beaucoup de paralytiques et de boiteux furent guéris.
8 and great joy was in that city.
Ce qui causa une grande joie dans cette ville-là.
9 But a certain man was there whose name was Simon, who had dwelt in that city much time, and with his sorceries had deceived the people of the Shomroyee, magnifying himself, and saying, I am the Great.
Or il y avait auparavant dans la ville un homme nommé Simon qui exerçait l'art d'enchanteur, et ensorcelait le peuple de Samarie, se disant être quelque grand personnage.
10 And all inclined to him, great and small, and said, This is the great Power of Aloha.
Auquel tous étaient attentifs, depuis le plus petit jusques au plus grand, disant: celui-ci est la grande vertu de Dieu.
11 And they were persuaded by him, because that much time by his sorceries he had astonished them.
Et ils étaient attachés à lui, parce que depuis longtemps il les avait éblouis par sa magie.
12 But when they believed Philipos, who evangelized the kingdom of Aloha in the name of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, they were baptized, men and women.
Mais quand ils eurent cru ce que Philippe leur annonçait touchant le Royaume de Dieu, et le Nom de Jésus-Christ, et les hommes et les femmes furent baptisés.
13 And Simon also himself believed, and was baptized, and adhered to Philipos. And when he saw the signs and great works which were done by his hands, he wondered and was astonished.
Et Simon crut aussi lui-même, et après avoir été baptisé, il ne bougeait d'auprès de Philippe; et voyant les prodiges et les grands miracles qui se faisaient, il était comme ravi hors de lui même.
14 AND when the apostles who were at Urishlem heard that the people of the Shomroyee had received the word of Aloha, they sent to them Kipha and Juhanon.
Or quand les Apôtres qui étaient à Jérusalem, eurent entendu que la Samarie avaient reçu la parole de Dieu, ils leur envoyèrent Pierre et Jean;
15 And they went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Spirit of Holiness:
Qui y étant descendus prièrent pour eux, afin qu'ils reçussent le Saint-Esprit:
16 for he was not upon one of them yet; but they were only baptized in the name of our Lord Jeshu.
Car il n'était pas encore descendu sur aucun d'eux, mais seulement ils étaient baptisés au Nom du Seigneur Jésus.
17 Then they laid upon them the hand, and they received the Spirit of Holiness.
Puis ils leur imposèrent les mains, et ils reçurent le Saint-Esprit.
18 And when Simon saw that by the hand-laying of the apostles the Spirit of Holiness was given, he offered to them silver,
Alors Simon ayant vu que le Saint-Esprit était donné, par l'imposition des mains des Apôtres, il leur présenta de l'argent,
19 saying, Give also to me this power, that he on whom I shall lay the hand may receive the Spirit of Holiness.
En leur disant: donnez-moi aussi cette puissance, que tous ceux à qui j'imposerai les mains reçoivent le Saint-Esprit.
20 Shemun Kipha said to him, Thy silver go with thee into perdition, because thou thoughtest that the gift of Aloha with the possessions of the world might he obtained.
Mais Pierre lui dit: que ton argent périsse avec toi, puisque tu as estimé que le don de Dieu s'acquiert avec de l'argent.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this faith, because thine heart hath not been right before Aloha.
Tu n'as point de part ni d'héritage en cette affaire: car ton cœur n'est point droit devant Dieu.
22 Nevertheless, repent of this thy wickedness, and pray of Aloha, that the guile of thy heart may haply be forgiven thee;
Repens-toi donc de cette méchanceté, et prie Dieu, afin que s'il est possible, la pensée de ton cœur te soit pardonnée.
23 for in bitter gall and in the bonds of iniquity I see that thou art.
Car je vois que tu es dans un fiel très amer, et dans un lien d'iniquité.
24 Simon answered and said, Pray you on my behalf, of Aloha, that not any of these things which you have spoken may come upon me.
Alors Simon répondit, et dit: vous, priez le Seigneur pour moi, afin que rien ne vienne sur moi des choses que vous avez dites.
25 But Shemun and Juhanon, when they had testified and taught the word of Aloha, returned to Urishlem, and evangelized in many villages of the Shomroyee.
Eux donc après avoir prêché et annoncé la parole du Seigneur, retournèrent à Jérusalem, et annoncèrent l'Evangile en plusieurs bourgades des Samaritains.
26 AND the angel of the Lord spake with Philipos, and said to him, Arise, go to the south, in the desert way which goeth down from Urishlem to Gaza.
Puis l'Ange du Seigneur parla à Philippe, en disant: lève-toi, et t'en va vers le Midi, au chemin qui descend de Jérusalem à Gaza, celle qui est déserte.
27 And arising he went. And there met him a certain eunuch who had come from Cush, an officer of Kandak, queen of the Cushoyee; and he was officer over all her treasure. And he had been to worship at Urishlem;
Lui donc se levant, s'en alla; et voici un homme Ethiopien, Eunuque, qui était un des principaux Seigneurs de la Cour de Candace, Reine des Ethiopiens, commis sur toutes ses richesses, et qui était venu pour adorer à Jérusalem;
28 and while returning that he might go, he sat in the chariot and read in Eshaia the prophet.
S'en retournait, assis dans son chariot; et il lisait le Prophète Esaïe.
29 And the Spirit of Holiness said to Philipos, Approach, and join the chariot.
Et l'Esprit dit à Philippe: approche-toi, et te joins à ce chariot.
30 And being near, he heard that he read in Eshaia the prophet; and he said to him, Understandest thou what thou readest?
Et Philippe y étant accouru, il l'entendit lisant le Prophète Esaïe; et il lui dit: mais comprends-tu ce que tu lis?
31 And he said, How can I understand, unless one teach me? And he prayed of him, of Philipos, to ascend and sit with him.
Et il lui dit: mais comment le pourrais-je comprendre, si quelqu'un ne me guide? et il pria Philippe de monter et s'asseoir avec lui.
32 But the section (phosuka) of the scripture in which he was reading is this: As a lamb to the slaughter was he led; And as a sheep before the shearer is silent, So opened not he his mouth in his humiliation.
Or le passage de l'Ecriture qu'il lisait était celui-ci: il a été mené comme une brebis à la boucherie, et comme un agneau muet devant celui qui le tond; en sorte qu'il n'a point ouvert sa bouche.
33 From oppression and from judgment was he led; And his age who shall recount? For his life is taken from the earth.
En son abaissement son jugement a été haussé; mais qui racontera sa durée? car sa vie est enlevée de la terre.
34 That eunuch said Unto Philipos, I pray thee, of whom speaketh this the prophet? of himself, or of another man?
Et l'Eunuque prenant la parole, dit à Philippe: je te prie, de qui est-ce que le Prophète dit cela: est-ce de lui-même, ou de quelque autre?
35 Then Philipos opened his mouth and began, from that very scripture, preaching to him concerning our Lord Jeshu.
Alors Philippe ouvrant sa bouche, et commençant par cette Ecriture, lui annonça Jésus.
36 And as they went in the way they came to a certain place which had water in it, and that eunuch said, Behold the water; what is the hinderance that I should be baptized?
Et comme ils continuaient leur chemin, ils arrivèrent à [un lieu où il y avait] de l'eau; et l'Eunuque dit: voici de l'eau, qu'est-ce qui empêche que je ne sois baptisé?
Et Philippe dit: si tu crois de tout ton cœur, cela t'est permis; et [l'Eunuque] répondant, dit: Je crois que Jésus-Christ est le Fils de Dieu.
38 And he commanded that the chariot should stand; and they descended both of them to the water, and Philipos baptized that eunuch.
Et ayant commandé qu'on arrêtât le chariot, ils descendirent tous deux dans l'eau, Philippe et l'Eunuque; et [Philippe] le baptisa.
39 And when they had ascended from the water, the Spirit of the Lord rapt away Philipos, and the eunuch again saw him not; but he went on his way rejoicing.
Et quand ils furent remontés hors de l'eau, l'Esprit du Seigneur enleva Philippe, et l'Eunuque ne le vit plus; et tout joyeux il continua son chemin.
40 But Philipos was found at Azotos, and from thence he itinerated and evangelized in all the cities until he came to Cesarea.
Mais Philippe se trouva dans Azote, et en passant il annonça l'Evangile dans toutes les villes, jusqu'à ce qu'il fût arrivé à Césarée.
