Judges 8
1 And they said to him [the] man of Ephraim what? [is] the thing this [which] you have done to us to not to summon us that you went to fight against Midian and they quarreled! with him with force.
Les hommes d’Éphraïm dirent à Gédéon: Que signifie cette manière d’agir envers nous? Pourquoi ne pas nous avoir appelés, quand tu es allé combattre Madian? Et ils eurent avec lui une violente querelle.
2 And he said to them what? have I done now like you ¿ not good [are] [the] gleanings of Ephraim more than [the] grape harvest of Abiezer.
Gédéon leur répondit: Qu’ai-je fait en comparaison de vous? Le grappillage d’Éphraïm ne vaut-il pas mieux que la vendange d’Abiézer?
3 In hand your he has given God [the] commanders of Midian Oreb and Zeeb and what? have I been able to do like you then it relaxed spirit their from on him when said he the word this.
C’est entre vos mains que Dieu a livré les chefs de Madian, Oreb et Zeeb. Qu’ai-je donc pu faire en comparaison de vous? Lorsqu’il eut ainsi parlé, leur colère contre lui s’apaisa.
4 And he came Gideon the Jordan towards [was] passing over he and three hundred the man who [were] with him [were] exhausted and pursuing.
Gédéon arriva au Jourdain, et il le passa, lui et les trois cents hommes qui étaient avec lui, fatigués, mais poursuivant toujours.
5 And he said to [the] people of Succoth give please round loaves of bread to the people which [is] at feet my for [are] exhausted they and I [am] pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna [the] kings of Midian.
Il dit aux gens de Succoth: Donnez, je vous prie, quelques pains au peuple qui m’accompagne, car ils sont fatigués, et je suis à la poursuite de Zébach et de Tsalmunna, rois de Madian.
6 And he said [the] officials of Succoth ¿ [is] [the] hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in hand your that we will give to army your bread.
Les chefs de Succoth répondirent: La main de Zébach et de Tsalmunna est-elle déjà en ton pouvoir, pour que nous donnions du pain à ton armée?
7 And he said Gideon therefore when gives Yahweh Zebah and Zalmunna in hand my and I will thresh flesh your with thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
Et Gédéon dit: Eh bien! Lorsque l’Éternel aura livré entre mes mains Zébach et Tsalmunna, je broierai votre chair avec des épines du désert et avec des chardons.
8 And he went up from there Penuel and he spoke to them like this and they answered him [the] men of Penuel just as they had answered [the] men of Succoth.
De là il monta à Penuel, et il fit aux gens de Penuel la même demande. Ils lui répondirent comme avaient répondu ceux de Succoth.
9 And he said also to [the] men of Penuel saying when return I in peace I will tear down the tower this.
Et il dit aussi aux gens de Penuel: Quand je reviendrai en paix, je renverserai cette tour.
10 And Zebah and Zalmunna [were] in Karkor and armies their [were] with them about fif-teen thousand all those [who] remained of all [the] army of [the] people of [the] east and those [who] fell [were] one hundred and twenty thousand man [who] drew [the] sword.
Zébach et Tsalmunna étaient à Karkor et leur armée avec eux, environ quinze mille hommes, tous ceux qui étaient restés de l’armée entière des fils de l’Orient; cent vingt mille hommes tirant l’épée avaient été tués.
11 And he went up Gideon [the] way of those [who] dwell in tents from [the] east of Nobah and Jogbehah and he attacked the army and the army it was security.
Gédéon monta par le chemin de ceux qui habitent sous les tentes, à l’orient de Nobach et de Jogbeha, et il battit l’armée qui se croyait en sûreté.
12 And they fled Zebah and Zalmunna and he pursued after them and he captured [the] two - [the] kings of Midian Zebah and Zalmunna and all the army he routed.
Zébach et Tsalmunna prirent la fuite; Gédéon les poursuivit, il s’empara des deux rois de Madian, Zébach et Tsalmunna, et il mit en déroute toute l’armée.
13 And he returned Gideon [the] son of Joash from the battle from to [the] ascent of Heres.
Gédéon, fils de Joas, revint de la bataille par la montée de Hérès.
14 And he captured a young man one of [the] men of Succoth and he enquired of him and he wrote down to him [the] officials of Succoth and elders its seventy and seven man.
Il saisit d’entre les gens de Succoth un jeune homme qu’il interrogea, et qui lui mit par écrit les noms des chefs et des anciens de Succoth, soixante-dix-sept hommes.
15 And he came to [the] men of Succoth and he said here! Zebah and Zalmunna whom you taunted me saying ¿ [is] [the] hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in hand your that we will give to men your weary bread.
Puis il vint auprès des gens de Succoth, et dit: Voici Zébach et Tsalmunna, au sujet desquels vous m’avez insulté, en disant: La main de Zébach et de Tsalmunna est-elle déjà en ton pouvoir, pour que nous donnions du pain à tes hommes fatigués?
16 And he took [the] elders of the city and [the] thorns of the wilderness and the briers and he taught with them [the] men of Succoth.
Et il prit les anciens de la ville, et châtia les gens de Succoth avec des épines du désert et avec des chardons.
17 And [the] tower of Penuel he tore down and he killed [the] men of the city.
Il renversa aussi la tour de Penuel, et tua les gens de la ville.
18 And he said to Zebah and to Zalmunna where? [are] the men whom you killed at Tabor and they said like you like them one [was] like [the] appearance of [the] sons of the king.
Il dit à Zébach et à Tsalmunna: Comment étaient les hommes que vous avez tués au Thabor? Ils répondirent: Ils étaient comme toi, chacun avait l’air d’un fils de roi.
19 And he said [were] brothers my [the] sons of mother my they [by] [the] life of Yahweh if you had let live them not I killed you.
Il dit: C’étaient mes frères, fils de ma mère. L’Éternel est vivant! Si vous les eussiez laissés vivre, je ne vous tuerais pas.
20 And he said to Jether firstborn his arise kill them and not he drew the young man sword his for he was afraid for still he [was] a young man.
Et il dit à Jéther, son premier-né: Lève-toi, tue-les! Mais le jeune homme ne tira point son épée, parce qu’il avait peur, car il était encore un enfant.
21 And he said Zebah and Zalmunna arise you and fall on us for [is] like the man strength his and he arose Gideon and he killed Zebah and Zalmunna and he took the ornaments which [were] on [the] necks of camels their.
Zébach et Tsalmunna dirent: Lève-toi toi-même, et tue-nous! Car tel est l’homme, telle est sa force. Et Gédéon se leva, et tua Zébach et Tsalmunna. Il prit ensuite les croissants qui étaient aux cous de leurs chameaux.
22 And they said [the] man of Israel to Gideon rule over us both you as well as son your as well as [the] son of son your for you have delivered us from [the] hand of Midian.
Les hommes d’Israël dirent à Gédéon: Domine sur nous, et toi, et ton fils, et le fils de ton fils, car tu nous as délivrés de la main de Madian.
23 And he said to them Gideon not I will rule I over you and not he will rule son my over you Yahweh he will rule over you.
Gédéon leur dit: Je ne dominerai point sur vous, et mes fils ne domineront point sur vous; c’est l’Éternel qui dominera sur vous.
24 And he said to them Gideon let me ask from you a petition and give to me everyone earring of plunder his for earrings of gold [belonged] to them for [were] Ishmaelites they.
Gédéon leur dit: J’ai une demande à vous faire: donnez-moi chacun les anneaux que vous avez eus pour butin. Les ennemis avaient des anneaux d’or, car ils étaient Ismaélites.
25 And they said certainly we will give [them] and they spread out the garment and they threw there towards everyone earring of plunder his.
Ils dirent: Nous les donnerons volontiers. Et ils étendirent un manteau, sur lequel chacun jeta les anneaux de son butin.
26 And it was [the] weight of [the] earrings of gold which he asked for one thousand and seven hundred gold apart from the ornaments and the pendants and [the] garments of purple that [were] on [the] kings of Midian and apart from the necklaces which [were] on [the] necks of camels their.
Le poids des anneaux d’or que demanda Gédéon fut de mille sept cents sicles d’or, sans les croissants, les pendants d’oreilles, et les vêtements de pourpre que portaient les rois de Madian, et sans les colliers qui étaient aux cous de leurs chameaux.
27 And he made it Gideon into an ephod and he placed it in city his in Ophrah and they acted as prostitutes all Israel after it there and it became for Gideon and for household his a snare.
Gédéon en fit un éphod, et il le plaça dans sa ville, à Ophra, où il devint l’objet des prostitutions de tout Israël; et il fut un piège pour Gédéon et pour sa maison.
28 And it was subdued Midian before [the] people of Israel and not they repeated to lift up head their and it was at peace the land forty year[s] in [the] days of Gideon.
Madian fut humilié devant les enfants d’Israël, et il ne leva plus la tête. Et le pays fut en repos pendant quarante ans, durant la vie de Gédéon.
29 And he went Jerub-Baal [the] son of Joash and he dwelt in own house his.
Jerubbaal, fils de Joas, s’en retourna, et demeura dans sa maison.
30 And to Gideon they belonged seventy sons [who] came out of thigh his for wives many they belonged to him.
Gédéon eut soixante-dix fils, issus de lui, car il eut plusieurs femmes.
31 And concubine his who [was] in Shechem she bore to him also she a son and he made name his Abimelech.
Sa concubine, qui était à Sichem, lui enfanta aussi un fils, à qui on donna le nom d’Abimélec.
32 And he died Gideon [the] son of Joash in old age good and he was buried in [the] tomb of Joash father his in Ophrah of [the] Abi-ezrite[s].
Gédéon, fils de Joas, mourut après une heureuse vieillesse; et il fut enterré dans le sépulcre de Joas, son père, à Ophra, qui appartenait à la famille d’Abiézer.
33 And it was just when he had died Gideon and they turned back [the] people of Israel and they acted as prostitutes after the Baals and they made for themselves Baal-Berith into god.
Lorsque Gédéon fut mort, les enfants d’Israël recommencèrent à se prostituer aux Baals, et ils prirent Baal-Berith pour leur dieu.
34 And not they remembered [the] people of Israel Yahweh God their who delivered them from [the] hand of all enemies their from round about.
Les enfants d’Israël ne se souvinrent point de l’Éternel, leur Dieu, qui les avait délivrés de la main de tous les ennemis qui les entouraient.
35 And not they did loyalty with [the] house of Jerub-Baal Gideon according to all the good which he had done with Israel.
Et ils n’eurent point d’attachement pour la maison de Jerubbaal, de Gédéon, après tout le bien qu’il avait fait à Israël.
