Esther 1
1 And it was in [the] days of Ahasuerus that Ahasuerus who reigned from India and to Cush seven and twenty and one hundred province[s].
Or il arriva au temps d'Assuérus, qui régnait depuis les Indes jusqu'en Ethiopie, sur cent vingt-sept provinces;
2 In the days those when sat - the king Ahasuerus on [the] throne of royalty his which [was] in Susa the citadel.
[Il arriva, dis-je], en ce temps-là, que le Roi Assuérus étant assis sur le trône de son règne à Susan, la ville capitale;
3 In year three of reigning his he made a feast for all officials his and servants his [the] army of - Persia and Media the nobles and [the] officials of the provinces [were] before him.
La troisième année de son règne, il fit un festin à tous les principaux Seigneurs de ses pays, et à ses serviteurs, de sorte que la puissance de la Perse et de la Médie, [savoir] les plus grands Seigneurs, et les Gouverneurs des provinces étaient devant lui;
4 When showed he [the] wealth of [the] splendor of kingdom his and [the] honor of [the] glory of greatness his days many eighty and one hundred day[s].
Pour montrer les richesses de la gloire de son Royaume, et la splendeur de l'excellence de sa grandeur, durant plusieurs jours; [savoir] cent quatre-vingts jours.
5 And when were completed - the days these he made the king for all the people who were found in Susa the citadel from great and unto insignificant a feast seven days in [the] court of [the] garden of [the] palace of the king.
Et au bout de ces jours-là, le Roi fît un festin pendant sept jours, dans le parvis du jardin du palais Royal, à tout le peuple qui se trouva dans Susan, la ville capitale, depuis le plus grand jusqu'au plus petit.
6 White material - cotton and violet material [was] held with cords of fine linen and purple on rods of silver and pillars of marble couches of - gold and silver on a pavement of porphyry and marble and mother-of-pearl and paving stone.
[Les tapisseries] de blanc, de vert et de pourpre tenaient avec des cordons de fin lin et d'écarlate à des anneaux d'argent, et à des piliers de marbre; les lits étaient d'or et d'argent sur un pavé de porphyre, de marbre, d'albâtre, et de marbre tacheté.
7 And they gave to drink in vessels of gold and vessels from vessels [were] differing and wine of royalty [was] much according to [the] hand of the king.
Et on donnait à boire en vaisselle d'or, qui était en diverses façons; et il y avait du vin Royal en abondance, selon l'opulence du Roi.
8 And the drinking [was] according to the law there not [was one who] compelled for thus - he had appointed the king on every chief of house his to do according to [the] pleasure of man and man.
Et la manière de boire fut telle qu'on l'avait ordonné. On ne contraignait personne; car le Roi avait ainsi expressément commandé à tous ses maîtres d'hôtel, de faire selon la volonté de chacun.
9 Also Vashti the queen she made a feast of women [the] house of royalty which [belonged] to the king Ahasuerus.
Et Vasti la Reine fit aussi un festin aux femmes dans la maison Royale, qui [était] au Roi Assuérus.
10 On the day seventh when was good [the] heart of the king by the wine he said to Mehuman Biztha Harbona Bigtha and Abagtha Zethar and Carcas [the] seven the eunuchs who served with [the] face of the king Ahasuerus.
Or au septième jour, comme le Roi avait le cœur gai de vin, il commanda à Méhuman, Bizta, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zéthar, et Carcas, les sept Eunuques qui servaient devant le Roi Assuérus,
11 To bring Vashti the queen before the king with a crown of royalty to show the peoples and the officials beauty her for [was] good of appearance she.
Qu'ils amenassent devant lui la Reine Vasti, portant la couronne Royale, afin de faire voir sa beauté aux peuples et aux Seigneurs; car elle était belle à voir.
12 And she refused the queen Vashti to come at [the] word of the king which [was] by [the] hand of the eunuchs and he was angry the king exceedingly and rage his it burned in him.
Mais la Reine Vasti refusa de venir au commandement que le Roi lui fit faire par les Eunuques; et le Roi se mit en fort grande colère, et sa colère s'embrasa au dedans de lui.
13 And he said the king to wise men [who] knew the times for [was] thus [the] manner of the king before all [those who] knew law and judgment.
Alors le Roi dit aux Sages qui avaient la connaissance des temps, (car le Roi communiquait ainsi avec tous ceux qui connaissaient les lois et le droit;
14 And the [ones] close to him [were] Carshena Shethar Admatha Tarshish Meres Marsena Memucan [the] seven [the] officials of - Persia and Media [who] saw [the] face of the king who sat foremost in the kingdom.
Et alors Carséna, Séthar, Admatha, Tarsis, Mérès, Marséna, [et] Mémucan, sept Seigneurs de Perse et de Médie, étaient proches de lui, qui voyaient la face du Roi, et ils avaient les premiers sièges dans le Royaume.)
15 According to [the] law what? [is] to do with the queen Vashti on - that not she did [the] command of the king Ahasuerus by [the] hand of the eunuchs.
Qu'y a-t-il à faire selon les lois à la Reine Vasti, pour n'avoir pas exécuté le commandement que le Roi Assuérus lui a envoyé faire par les Eunuques?
16 And he said (Memucan *Qk) before the king and the officials not on the king to only him she did wrong Vashti the queen for on all the officials and on all the peoples which [are] in all [the] provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
Alors Mémucan parla en présence du Roi et des Seigneurs, [disant]: La Reine Vasti n'a pas seulement mal agi contre le Roi, mais aussi contre tous les Seigneurs, et contre tous les peuples qui sont dans toutes les provinces du Roi Assuérus.
17 For it will go forth [the] matter of the queen to all the women to make despicable husbands their in eyes their because will say they the king Ahasuerus he said to bring Vashti the queen before him and not she came.
Car l'action de la Reine viendra [à la connaissance] de toutes les femmes, pour leur faire mépriser leurs maris, quand on dira: Le Roi Assuérus avait commandé qu'on lui amenât la Reine, et elle n'y est pas venue.
18 And the day this they will say - [the] noble ladies of Persia and Media who they have heard [the] matter of the queen to all [the] officials of the king and [will be] as enough of contempt and anger.
Et aujourd'hui les Dames de Perse et de Médie qui auront appris la réponse de la Reine, répondront [ainsi] à tous les Seigneurs [des pays] du Roi; et comme ce sera une marque de mépris, ce sera aussi un sujet d'emportement.
19 If [is] on the king good let it go forth a word of royalty from to before him and let it be written in [the] laws of Persia and Media and not it will pass away that not she will come Vashti before the king Ahasuerus and queenhood her let him give the king to fellow woman her good more than she.
Si le Roi donc le trouve ainsi bon, qu'un Edit Royal soit publié de sa part, et qu'il soit écrit entre les ordonnances de Perse et de la Médie, et qu'il soit irrévocable; [savoir] que Vasti ne vienne plus devant le Roi Assuérus; et que le Roi donne son Royaume à sa compagne, [qui sera] meilleure qu'elle.
20 And it will be heard [the] decree of the king which he will make in all kingdom his for [is] great it and all the women they will give honor to husbands their from great and unto insignificant.
Et l'Edit, que le Roi aura fait ayant été su par tout son Royaume, quelque grand qu'il soit, toutes les femmes honoreront leurs maris, depuis le plus grand jusqu'au plus petit.
21 And it was good the word in [the] eyes of the king and the officials and he did the king according to [the] word of Memucan.
Et cette parole plut au Roi et aux Seigneurs; et le Roi fit selon la parole de Mémucan.
22 And he sent out documents to all [the] provinces of the king to province and province according to writing its and to people and people according to language its to be every man ruler in own household his and speaking according to [the] language of people his.
Il envoya des lettres par toutes les provinces du Roi, à chaque province selon sa manière d'écrire, et à chaque peuple selon sa langue, afin que chacun fût maître en sa maison, et parlant selon la langue de son peuple.
