Numbers 26
1 And it came to pass, after the plague, that Yahweh spake unto Moses, and unto Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saying:
Et il arriva, après la plaie, que l’Éternel parla à Moïse et à Éléazar, fils d’Aaron, le sacrificateur, disant:
2 Reckon ye up the sum of all the assembly of the sons of Israel from twenty years old and upwards, by their ancestral houses, —every one able to go forth to war in Israel.
Relevez la somme de toute l’assemblée des fils d’Israël, depuis l’âge de 20 ans et au-dessus, selon leurs maisons de pères, tous ceux qui sont propres au service militaire en Israël.
3 So then Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them, in the waste plains of Moab, —by the Jordan near Jericho saying:
Et Moïse, et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, leur parlèrent dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain de Jéricho, disant: …
4 From twenty years old and upwards, As Yahweh commanded Moses, and the sons of Israel, who had come forth out of the land of Egypt.
Depuis l’âge de 20 ans et au-dessus, comme l’Éternel le commanda à Moïse et aux fils d’Israël, qui sortirent du pays d’Égypte.
5 Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, —the sons of Reuben, To Hanoch, pertained the family of the Hanochites; To Pallu, the family of the Palluites;
Ruben, le premier-né d’Israël. Les fils de Ruben: [de] Hénoc, la famille des Hénokites; de Pallu, la famille des Palluites;
6 To Hezron, the family of the Hezronites, —To Carmi, the family of the Carmites.
de Hetsron, la famille des Hetsronites; de Carmi, la famille des Carmites.
7 These, are the families of the Reubenites, —and they who were numbered of them were found to be—forty-three thousand, and seven hundred, and thirty.
– Ce sont là les familles des Rubénites; et leurs dénombrés furent 43 730.
8 Now, the sons of Pallu, were Eliab;
– Et les fils de Pallu: Éliab;
9 and the sons of Eliab, Nemuel, and Dathan and Abiram, —The same, Dathan and Abiram, notable men of the assembly, who contended against Moses and against Aaron in the assembly of Korah, when they contended against Yahweh;
et les fils d’Éliab: Nemuel, et Dathan, et Abiram. C’est ce Dathan et cet Abiram, des principaux de l’assemblée, qui se soulevèrent contre Moïse et contre Aaron dans l’assemblée de Coré, lorsqu’ils se soulevèrent contre l’Éternel;
10 and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up—with Korah also, when the assembly died, —when the fire consumed two hundred and fifty men, and they became a warning;
et la terre ouvrit sa bouche et les engloutit, ainsi que Coré, lorsque l’assemblée mourut, quand le feu dévora les 250 hommes; et ils furent pour signe.
11 But, the sons of Korah, died not.
Mais les fils de Coré ne moururent pas.
12 The sons of Simeon, by their families, To Nemuel, pertained the family of the Nemuelites, To Jamin, the family of the Jaminites, —To Jachin, the family of the Jachinites:
Les fils de Siméon, selon leurs familles: de Nemuel, la famille des Nemuélites; de Jamin, la famille des Jaminites; de Jakin, la famille des Jakinites;
13 To Zerah, the family of the Zerahites, —To Shaul, the family of the Shaulites:
de Zérakh, la famille des Zarkhites; de Saül, la famille des Saülites.
14 These, are the families of the Simeonites, —two and twenty thousand and two hundred.
– Ce sont là les familles des Siméonites, 22 200.
15 The sons of Gad, by their families, To Zephon, pertained the family of the Zephonites; To Haggi, the family of the Haggites, —To Shuni, the family of the Shunites;
Les fils de Gad, selon leurs familles: de Tsephon, la famille des Tsephonites; de Haggui, la famille des Hagguites; de Shuni, la famille des Shunites;
16 To Ozni, the family of the Oznites, —To Eri, the family of the Erites;
d’Ozni, la famille des Oznites; d’Éri, la famille des Érites;
17 To Arod, the family of the Arodites, —To Arelites, the family of the Arelites:
d’Arod, la famille des Arodites; d’Areéli, la famille des Areélites.
18 These, are the families of the sons of Gad, as to them who were numbered of them, —forty thousand and five hundred.
– Ce sont là les familles des fils de Gad, selon leur dénombrement, 40 500.
19 The sons of Judah, Er and Onan, —but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
Les fils de Juda: Er et Onan; et Er et Onan moururent dans le pays de Canaan.
20 And so, as to the sons of Judah, by their families, it was found that—To Shelah, pertained the family of the Shelanites, To Perez, the family of the Perezites, —To Zerah, the family of the Zerahites;
Et les fils de Juda, selon leurs familles: de Shéla, la famille des Shélanites; de Pérets, la famille des Partsites; de Zérakh, la famille des Zarkhites.
21 And, as to the sons of Perez, it was found that—To Hezron, pertained the family of the Hezronites, —To Hamul, the family of the Hamulites:
Et les fils de Pérets: de Hetsron, la famille des Hetsronites; de Hamul, la famille des Hamulites.
22 These, are the families of Judah, as to them who were numbered of them, —seventy-six thousand, and five hundred,
– Ce sont là les familles de Juda, selon leur dénombrement, 76 500.
23 The sons of Issachar, by their families, Unto Tola, pertained the family of the Tolaites, —To Puvah, the family of the Puvites;
Les fils d’Issacar, selon leurs familles: [de] Thola, la famille des Tholaïtes; de Puva, la famille des Punites;
24 To Jashub, the family of the Jashubites, —To Shimron, the family of the Shimronites:
de Jashub, la famille des Jashubites; de Shimron, la famille des Shimronites.
25 These, are the families of Issachar. as to them who were numbered of them, —sixty-four thousand, and three hundred.
– Ce sont là les familles d’Issacar, selon leur dénombrement, 64 300.
26 The sons of Zebulun, by their families, To Sered, pertained the family of the Seredites, To Elon, the family of the Elonites, —To Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites:
Les fils de Zabulon, selon leurs familles: de Séred, la famille des Sardites; d’Élon, la famille des Élonites; de Jakhleël, la famille des Jakhleélites.
27 These are the families of the Zebulunites as to them who were numbered of them, —sixty thousand, and five hundred.
– Ce sont là les familles des Zabulonites, selon leur dénombrement, 60 500.
28 The sons of Joseph by their families, —Manasseh, and Ephraim.
Les fils de Joseph, selon leurs familles, Manassé et Éphraïm.
29 The sons of Manasseh, To Machir, pertained the family of the Machirites, and, Machir, begat Gilead, —To Gilead, pertained the family of the Gileadites.
– Les fils de Manassé: de Makir, la famille des Makirites; et Makir engendra Galaad; de Galaad, la famille des Galaadites.
30 These are the sons of Gilead: Iezer, the family of the Iezerites, —To Helek, the family of the Helekites;
– Ce sont ici les fils de Galaad: [d’]Ihézer, la famille des Ihézrites; de Hélek, la famille des Helkites;
31 And Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; And, Shechem, the family of the Shechemites;
d’Asriel, la famille des Asriélites; [de] Sichem, la famille des Sichémites;
32 And Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; And, Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.
[de] Shemida, la famille des Shemidaïtes; [de] Hépher, la famille des Héphrites.
33 Now Zelophehad, son of Hepher, had no sons, but only, daughters, —and, the names of the daughters of Zelophehad, were Mahlah and Noah, Hoglah Milcah, and Tirzah.
– Et Tselophkhad, fils de Hépher, n’eut pas de fils, mais des filles; et les noms des filles de Tselophkhad étaient: Makhla, et Noa, Hogla, Milca, et Thirtsa.
34 These, are the families of Manasseh, —and, they who were numbered of them, —fifty-two thousand, and seven hundred.
– Ce sont là les familles de Manassé; et leurs dénombrés, 52 700.
35 These are the sons of Ephraim by their families, To Shuthelah, pertained the family of the Shuthelahites, To Becher, the family of the Becherites, —To Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.
Ce sont ici les fils d’Éphraïm, selon leurs familles: de Shuthélakh, la famille des Shuthalkhites; de Béker, la famille des Bacrites; de Thakhan, la famille des Thakhanites.
36 And, these, are the sons of Shuthelah, To Eran, pertained the family of the Eranites.
– Et ce sont ici les fils de Shuthélakh: d’Éran, la famille des Éranites.
37 These, are the families of the sons of Ephraim, as to them who were numbered of them, —thirty-two thousand, and five hundred, These, are the sons of Joseph by their families.
– Ce sont là les familles des fils d’Éphraïm, selon leur dénombrement, 32 500. – Ce sont là les fils de Joseph, selon leurs familles.
38 The sons of Benjamin by their families, To Bela, pertained the family of the Belaites, To Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites, —To Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites;
Les fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles: de Béla, la famille des Balites; d’Ashbel, la famille des Ashbélites; d’Akhiram, la famille des Akhiramites;
39 To Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites, —To Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.
de Shephupham, la famille des Shuphamites; de Hupham, la famille des Huphamites.
40 And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman, —[To Ard, pertained] the family of the Ardites, To Naaman, the family of the Naamites.
– Et les fils de Béla furent Ard et Naaman: [d’Ard], la famille des Ardites; de Naaman, la famille des Naamites.
41 These, are the sons of Benjamin by their families, —and they who were numbered of them, —were forty-five thousand and six hundred.
– Ce sont là les fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles; et leurs dénombrés, 45 600.
42 These, are the sons of Dan, by their families: To Shuham, pertained the family of the Shuhamites, —These, are the families of Dan by their families:
Ce sont ici les fils de Dan, selon leurs familles: de Shukham, la famille des Shukhamites. Ce sont là les familles de Dan, selon leurs familles.
43 All the families of the Shuhamites, as to them who were numbered of them, were, sixty-four thousand, and four hundred.
– Toutes les familles des Shukhamites, selon leur dénombrement, 64 400.
44 The sons of Asher, by their families: To Imnah, pertained the family of the Imnites, To Ishvi, the family of the Ishvites, —To Beriah, the family of the Beriites;
Les fils d’Aser, selon leurs familles: de Jimna, la famille des Jimna; de Jishvi, la famille des Jishvites; de Beriha, la famille des Berihites.
45 To the sons of Beriah, To Heber, pertained the family of the Heberites, To Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites;
– Des fils de Beriha: de Héber, la famille des Hébrites; de Malkiel, la famille des Malkiélites.
46 And, the name of the daughter of Asher, was Serah.
– Et le nom de la fille d’Aser était Sérakh.
47 These, are the families of the sons of Asher as to them who were numbered of them, —fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
Ce sont là les familles des fils d’Aser, selon leur dénombrement, 53 400.
48 The sons of Naphtali, by their families, To Jahzeel, pertained the family of the Jahzeelites; To Guni, the family of the Gunites:
Les fils de Nephthali, selon leurs familles: de Jahtseël, la famille des Jahtseélites; de Guni, la famille des Gunites;
49 To Jezer, the family of the Jezerites; To Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.
de Jétser, la famille des Jitsrites; de Shillem, la famille des Shillémites.
50 These are the families of Naphtali, by their families, —and they who were numbered of them, were forty-five thousand and four hundred.
– Ce sont là les familles de Nephthali, selon leurs familles; et leurs dénombrés, 45 400.
51 These, are they who were numbered of the sons of Israel, six hundred and one thousand, —seven hundred and thirty,
Ce sont là les dénombrés des fils d’Israël, 601 730.
52 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
Et l’Éternel parla à Moïse, disant:
53 Unto these, shall be apportioned the land as an inheritance by the number of names.
Le pays sera partagé à ceux-ci en héritage, selon le nombre des noms.
54 For the large one, thou shalt make large his inheritance, and for the small one, thou shalt make small his inheritance, —unto each one, in proportion to them who were numbered of him, shall be given his inheritance.
À ceux qui sont nombreux, tu augmenteras l’héritage; et à ceux qui sont peu nombreux, tu diminueras l’héritage: tu donneras à chacun son héritage en proportion de ses dénombrés.
55 Nevertheless by lot, shall the land be apportioned, —by the names of the tribes of their fathers, shall they inherit.
Seulement, le pays sera partagé par le sort; ils l’hériteront selon les noms des tribus de leurs pères.
56 At the bidding of the lot, shall be apportioned his inheritance, —between large and small.
C’est selon la décision du sort que leur héritage sera partagé, qu’ils soient en grand nombre ou en petit nombre.
57 And these, are they who were numbered of the Levites by their families, To Gershon, pertained the family of the Gershonites, To Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; To Merari, the family of the Merarites.
Et ce sont ici les dénombrés de Lévi, selon leurs familles: de Guershon, la famille des Guershonites; de Kehath, la famille des Kehathites; de Merari, la famille des Merarites.
58 These, are the families of Levi—The family of the Libnites, The family of the Hebronites, The family of the Mahlites, The family of the Mushites, The family of the Korahites, —And, Kohath, begat Amram;
Ce sont ici les familles de Lévi: la famille des Libnites, la famille des Hébronites, la famille des Makhlites, la famille des Mushites, la famille des Corites. – Et Kehath engendra Amram.
59 and the name of the wife of Amram, was Jochebed daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt, —and she bare to Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister:
Et le nom de la femme d’Amram était Jokébed, fille de Lévi, qui naquit à Lévi en Égypte; et elle enfanta à Amram, Aaron et Moïse, et Marie, leur sœur.
60 And, there were born to Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, —Eleazar and Ithamar;
Et à Aaron naquirent Nadab, et Abihu, Éléazar, et Ithamar.
61 But Nadab and Abihu died, —when they brought near strange fire before Yahweh:
Et Nadab et Abihu moururent comme ils présentaient du feu étranger devant l’Éternel.
62 And they who were numbered of them were found to be—twenty-three thousand, all the males from one month old and upwards—for they had not numbered themselves in the midst of the sons of Israel, because there was given unto them no inheritance, in the midst of the sons of Israel.
– Et les dénombrés des Lévites furent 23 000, tous les mâles, depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus; car ils ne furent pas dénombrés avec les fils d’Israël, parce qu’on ne leur donna pas d’héritage parmi les fils d’Israël.
63 These, are they who were numbered by Moses, and Eleazar, the priest, —when they numbered the sons of Israel, in the waste plains of Moab, by Jordan, near Jericho.
Ce sont là ceux qui furent dénombrés par Moïse et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, qui dénombrèrent les fils d’Israël dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain de Jéricho.
64 And among these, was there not found a man of them who had been numbered by Moses, and Aaron the priest, —when they numbered the sons of Israel in the desert of Sinai.
Et parmi ceux-là, il n’y en eut aucun de ceux qui avaient été dénombrés par Moïse et Aaron, le sacrificateur, qui dénombrèrent les fils d’Israël dans le désert de Sinaï;
65 For Yahweh had said of them, They shall surely die, in the desert. And there was not left of them a man, save only, Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua son of Nun.
car l’Éternel avait dit d’eux: Ils mourront certainement dans le désert; et il n’en resta pas un homme, excepté Caleb, fils de Jephunné, et Josué, fils de Nun.
