Jeremiah 13
1 Thus, said Yahweh unto me, —Go and buy for thyself a linen girdle, and put upon thy loins, —but in water, shalt thou not place it.
So spricht zu mir Jehovah: Gehe und kaufe dir einen leinenen Gurt und lege ihn um deine Lenden, aber bring ihn nicht ins Wasser.
2 So I bought a girdle according to the word of Yahweh, —and put upon my loins.
Und ich kaufte den Gurt nach dem Wort Jehovahs und legte ihn um meine Lenden.
3 Then came the word of Yahweh unto me second time saying:
Und es geschah Jehovahs Wort an mich zum zweitenmal, sprechend:
4 Take the girdle which thou hast bought which is upon thy loins, —and arise go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the cliff.
Nimm den Gurt, den du gekauft, der um deine Lenden ist, und stehe auf und gehe nach dem Phrath und lege ihn da hehlings in die Kluft der Felsenklippe.
5 So I went, and hid it, by the Euphrates, as Yahweh had commanded me.
Und ich ging und legte ihn hehlings an dem Phrath so, wie Jehovah mir geboten hatte.
6 And it came to pass, at the end of many days, —that Yahweh said unto me, —Arise go to the Euphrates, and take from thence the girdle, which I commanded thee to hide there.
Und es geschah am Ende vieler Tage, daß Jehovah zu mir sprach: Stehe auf, gehe nach dem Phrath und nimm von da den Gurt, den Ich dir gebot allda hehlings hinzulegen.
7 So I went to the Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle out of the place where I had hidden it, —and lo! the girdle was spoiled, it was good for nothing,
Und ich ging nach dem Phrath und ich grub und nahm den Gurt vom Ort, da ich ihn hehlings hingelegt hatte, und siehe, der Gurt war verdorben, daß er zu nichts mehr taugte.
8 Then came the word of Yahweh unto me saying:
Und es geschah an mich Jehovahs Wort, sprechend:
9 Thus, saith Yahweh, —After this manner, will I spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
So spricht Jehovah: Ebenso will Ich verderben den Stolz Jehudahs und den vielen Stolz Jerusalems.
10 This wicked people who are refusing to hear my words, who are walking in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods, to serve them and to bow down to them, yea let them be like this girdle, which is good for nothing.
Dies böse Volk, sie, die sich weigern zu hören auf Meine Worte, die hingehen in der Verstocktheit ihres Herzens und anderen Göttern nachgehen, ihnen zu dienen und sie anzubeten, soll werden gleich wie dieser Gurt, der zu nichts taugt.
11 For as a girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, so caused I to cleave unto me—the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah Declareth Yahweh, to become mine—For a people, and For a name, and For a praise and For an adorning, —but they hearkened not.
Denn wie der Gurt anhaftet an des Mannes Lenden, so habe Ich Mir lassen anhaften das ganze Haus Israels und das ganze Haus Jehudahs, spricht Jehovah, daß es Mir sei zum Volk und zum Namen und zum Lob und zum Schmuck, aber sie haben nicht gehört.
12 Therefore shalt thou say unto them this word—Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Every jar, is to be filled with wine; and they will say unto thee, Do we not, know well, that every jar, is to be filled with wine?
So sage ihnen dies Wort: So spricht Jehovah, der Gott Israels: Jeglicher Schlauch wird mit Wein gefüllt! Und sagen sie zu dir: Wissen wir nicht, daß jeglicher Schlauch soll mit Wein gefüllt werden?
13 Then shalt thou say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh—Behold me! filling all the inhabitants of this land Even the kings that are sitting for David upon his throne and the priests and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—with drunkenness;
So sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Jehovah: Siehe, Ich erfülle alle, die in diesem Lande wohnen, und die Könige, die von David auf seinem Throne sitzen, und die Priester und die Propheten und alle Bewohner Jerusalems, mit starkem Getränk.
14 and I will dash them every man against his brother even the fathers and the sons together, Declareth Yahweh, —I will not pity, Neither will I spare, Neither will I have compassion, that I should not destroy them.
Und will zerstreuen den Mann mit seinem Bruder und die Väter und die Söhne allzumal, spricht Jehovah. Ich will nicht Mitleid haben, noch schonen, und Mich nicht erbarmen, daß Ich sie nicht verderbe.
15 Hear ye and give ear, be not haughty, —For Yahweh, hath spoken.
Höret und nehmt zu Ohren, seid nicht hoffärtig. Denn Jehovah redet!
16 Give ye to Yahweh your God—glory, Before he cause darkness, and Before your feet stumble upon the twilight mountains; Lest, when ye wait for light, He turn it into the shadow of death, And change it for thick darkness.
Gebet Jehovah, eurem Gott, die Herrlichkeit, bevor Er es finster werden läßt und bevor eure Füße sich stoßen an den Bergen der Dämmerung und ihr hoffet auf Licht; Er aber wird es zum Todesschatten machen, und in Wolkendunkel setzen.
17 But if ye will not hear it, In secret places, shall my soul weep Because of the pride, And mine eye, shall flow over, and run down with tears, Because captive hath been taken the flock of Yahweh.
Und wenn ihr nicht darauf hört, wird meine Seele im Verborgenen weinen ob dem Hochmut und mein Auge tränt und fließt in Tränen herab, daß Jehovahs Herde gefangengenommen wird.
18 Say thou to the king and to the queen-mother, Abase yourselves—Sit down, —For descended have your Head-tires, your Crown of adornment.
Saget dem Könige und der Gebieterin: Erniedrigt euch, setzt euch hin, denn herabgefallen ist euer Kopfputz, die Krone eures Schmuckes.
19 The cities of the South, are shut And there is none to open, —Judah hath been carried away captive, She hath altogether been carried away captive in full number.
Des Mittags Städte sind geschlossen und niemand öffnet sie; ganz Jehudah ist weggeführt, weggeführt ist Schelomim!
20 Lift up your eyes and see Them who are coming in from the North, —Where is The flock that was given thee, Thy beautiful flock?
Erhebet eure Augen und sehet, die da kommen von Mitternacht! Wo ist nun die Herde, die dir gegeben war, die Herde, deines Schmuckes?
21 What wilt thou say when he shall bring punishment upon thee, Since, thou thyself, hast accustomed them to be over thee as friends in chief? Shall not, pangs, seize thee, as of a woman in childbirth?
Was wirst du sagen, wenn Er über dir heimsucht? Und du hast sie gelehrt als Leiter über dich zum Haupte zu sein. Sollten nicht Geburtsnöte dich ergreifen, wie ein Weib, die gebären soll?
22 But if thou say in thy heart, Wherefore have these things befallen me? For the greatness of thine iniquity have Thy skirts been turned aside Thy heels suffered violence!
Und wenn du sprichst in deinem Herzen: Warum ist solches mir begegnet? Ob der Menge deiner Missetat wurden deine Säume aufgedeckt und deinen Fersen wurde Gewalt angetan.
23 Can the Ethiopian change, his skin, Or the leopard his spots? Even, ye, may be able to do right, Who are accustomed to do wrong.
Kann auch ein Mohr seine Haut wandeln, und ein Pardel seine Flecken? So vermöchtet auch ihr Gutes zu tun, die ihr gelernt habt, Böses tun.
24 Therefore have I scattered them, As broken straw passing away, by the wind of the desert.
Und Ich will sie zerstreuen wie die Spreu, die bei der Wüste Wind vorüberfährt.
25 This is thy lot Thy measured portion from me, Declareth Yahweh; For that thou didst forget me, And confide in falsehood:
Das soll dein Los sein, dein Anteil, von Mir dir zugemessen, spricht Jehovah, daß du hast Mein vergessen und auf die Lüge vertraust.
26 Therefore, even I myself, have drawn away thy skirts, over thy face, And thy shame hath been seen,
Und Ich will auch deine Säume entblößen über dein Angesicht, daß deine Unehre gesehen werde.
27 Thine adulteries and thy neighings, thine unchaste wickedness, Upon the hills in the field, I have seen thine abominations! Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, Wilt thou not become pure? After how long yet?
Deine Ehebrüche und dein Wiehern, die Unzucht deiner Buhlerei auf den Hügeln, im Felde, deine Scheusale habe Ich gesehen. Wehe dir, Jerusalem, willst du dich nicht hernachmals reinigen? Wie lange noch?
