Genesis 19
1 So the two messengers went in towards Sodom at eventide, Lot, being seated in the gate of Sodom, —so Lot beheld and rose up to meet them, and bowed himself with his face to the earth.
Und die zwei Engel kamen am Abend nach Sodom, und Lot saß im Tore Sodoms. Und Lot sah sie und er stand auf, ihnen entgegen, und verbeugte sich mit dem Antlitz zur Erde.
2 And he said Behold, I pray you my lords turn aside, I pray you, into the house of your servant, —and tarry the night and bathe your feet, so shall ye rise early, and go on your way. And they said, Nay, but, in the broad way, will we tarry the night.
Und er sprach: Siehe doch, meine Herren, lenket doch in das Haus eures Knechtes ab und übernachtet und waschet eure Füße, und stehet früh auf und gehet eures Weges. Sie sagten aber: Nein, denn wir werden auf der Straße übernachten.
3 But he became exceeding urgent with them, so they turned aside unto him and entered into his house, —and he made for them a banquet, unleavened cakes, also did he bake, and they did eat.
Und er drang sehr in sie; und sie lenkten zu ihm ab und kamen in sein Haus. Und er machte ihnen ein Gastmahl und buk Ungesäuertes, und sie aßen.
4 Ere yet they lay down, the men of the city—the men of Sodom, had come round against the house, from youth even unto age, —all the people from every quarter,
Ehe sie sich legten, da umgaben die Männer der Stadt, die Männer von Sodom, das Haus, vom Jungen bis zum Alten, das ganze Volk vom Ende her.
5 And they called unto Lot and said to him, Where are the men who have come in unto thee tonight? Bring them forth unto us, and let us know them!
Und sie riefen Lot, und sagten zu ihm: Wo sind die Männer, die diese Nacht zu dir gekommen sind. Bringe sie zu uns heraus, daß wir sie erkennen.
6 And Lot went forth unto them to the entrance; but the door, closed he behind him.
Lot aber ging hinaus zu ihnen an den Eingang, und schloß die Tür hinter sich zu.
7 And he said, —Do not I pray you my brethren act wickedly.
Und sprach: Nicht doch, meine Brüder, tut nicht Böses!
8 Behold, I pray you, I, have two daughters who have not known man, I must needs now bring, them, forth unto you, and do ye to them, as may be good in your eyes, —Only to these men, ye may do nothing; for on this account, have they come under the shade of my roof.
Sehet doch, ich habe zwei Töchter, die keinen Mann erkannt haben, laßt sie mich doch zu euch herausbringen, und tut mit ihnen, was gut ist in euren Augen, nur diesen Männern tut nichts; denn dafür sind sie unter den Schatten meines Daches gekommen.
9 And they said, Stand back, And they said, This one, by himself, hath come in to sojourn and must always be acting the judge, Now, will we do more wickedly to thee, than to them. So they pressed sore upon the man—upon Lot—exceedingly, and drew near to break open the door.
Und sie sprachen: Tritt hier herzu. Und sie sagten: Ist einer gekommen, sich hier aufzuhalten, und will als Rier richten? Nun wollen wir dir Böseres tun, denn jenen; und sie drangen sehr ein auf den Mann, auf Lot, und sie traten herzu, um die Tür aufzubrechen.
10 And the men thrust forth their hand, and brought Lot in unto them into the house—and, the door, they closed:
Und die Männer streckten ihre Hand hinaus und brachten Lot zu sich herein ins Haus und verschlossen die Tür.
11 the men also who were at the entrance of the house, smote they with blindness, from small even unto great, so that they wearied themselves to find the entrance.
Die Männer aber am Eingang zum Hause schlugen sie mit Blindheit vom Kleinen bis zum Großen und sie müheten sich ab, den Eingang zu finden.
12 And the men said unto Lot, Whom besides hast thou here? Son-in-law and thy sons and thy daughters, and all that thou hast in the city, bring thou forth out of the place;
Und die Männer sprachen zu Lot: Wen hast du noch hier? Eidam und deine Söhne und deine Töchter und jeden, den du in der Stadt hast, bringe heraus aus diesem Orte;
13 For we are about to destroy this place, —for, great, is the outcry of them unto the face of Yahweh, so that Yahweh hath sent us to destroy it.
Denn wir verderben diesen Ort, weil das Geschrei über sie groß ist vor Jehovah, und Jehovah hat uns gesandt, ihn zu verderben.
14 And Lot went forth and spake unto his sons-in-law who were about to take his two daughters and said Arise come forth out of this place, for Yahweh is about to destroy the city. And it came to pass, that he was as one that laughed, in the eyes of his sons-in-law.
Und Lot ging hinaus und redete zu seinen Eidamen, die seine Töchter nehmen wollten, und sprach: Machet euch auf, gehet aus von diesem Ort, denn Jehovah verdirbt die Stadt. Er war aber vor den Augen seiner Eidame, wie ein Scherzender.
15 But as soon as, the dawn had sprung up, the messengers hastened Lot saying, —Arise! take thy wife and thy two daughters that are at hand, lest thou be swept away in the punishment of the city.
Und als die Morgenröte aufging, trieben die Engel Lot an, und sprachen: Mache dich auf, nimm dein Weib und deine zwei Töchter, die sich finden, daß du nicht in der Missetat der Stadt weggerafft werdest.
16 And he lingered—so the men laid hold of his hand and of the hand of his wife and of the hand of his two daughters, in the tenderness of Yahweh towards him, —and they brought him out and led him forth outside the city.
Und er zauderte; die Männer aber faßten ihn an seiner Hand und sein Weib bei der Hand und seine zwei Töchter bei der Hand, weil Jehovah ihn bemitleidete, und brachten ihn hinaus und ließen ihn draußen vor der Stadt.
17 And it came to pass when they had brought them forth outside, that they said, Escape for thy life, Look not behind thee, neither stand still in all the vale, —To the mountain, escape thou lest thou be swept away.
Und es geschah, als sie dieselben hinausgebracht hatten, sprach Er: Entrinne ob deiner Seele, blicke nicht hinter dich und bleib nicht stehen in dem ganzen Umkreis, entrinne auf den Berg, auf daß du nicht weggerafft werdest.
18 And Lot said unto them, —No, I pray thee, My Lord!
Lot aber sprach zu ihnen: Nicht doch, meine Herren!
19 Behold, I pray thee thy servant hath found favour in thine eyes, so that thou hast magnified thy lovingkindness which thou hast performed with me in keeping alive my soul.—But, I, cannot escape to the mountain, lest calamity overtake me so shall I die.
Siehe doch, Dein Knecht hat Gnade gefunden in Deinen Augen, und Du hast groß gemacht Deine Barmherzigkeit, die Du an mir getan, daß Du meine Seele am Leben erhalten; aber ich vermag nicht auf den Berg zu entrinnen, daß mir nicht das Böse anklebe, daß ich stürbe.
20 Behold, I pray thee, this city, is near for fleeing thither And, it, is a little one, let me I pray thee, escape thither—is it not a, little, one? That my soul may live!
Siehe doch diese Stadt ist nahe, um dahin zu fliehen. Und sie ist klein, laß mich dahin entrinnen; ist sie nicht klein? und meine Seele wird leben.
21 And he said unto him, Behold! I have lifted up thy countenance, even as to this thing, —so that I will not overthrow the city, of which thou hast spoken.
Und Er sprach zu ihm: Siehe auch in diesem Worte erhöre Ich dich, daß Ich die Stadt nicht umkehre, von der du geredet hast.
22 Haste thee escape thither, for I cannot do anything, until thou have come in thither. For this cause: was the name of the city called Zoar.
Eile, entrinne dahin, weil Ich nichts zu tun vermag, bis du dahin kommst. Deshalb nannte man den Namen der Stadt Zoar.
23 When, the sun, had come forth on the earth, Lot had entered into Zoar.
Die Sonne ging auf über die Erde und Lot kam gen Zoar.
24 And, Yahweh, rained, upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah, brimstone and fire, —from Yahweh, out of the heavens:
Und Jehovah ließ regnen über Sodom und über Gomorrah Schwefel und Feuer von Jehovah aus dem Himmel.
25 so he overthrew these cities, and all the circuit, —and all the inhabitants of the cities, and the produce of the ground.
Und Er kehrte um diese Städte und den ganzen Umkreis und alle Einwohner der Städte und das Gewächs des Bodens.
26 But his wife looked from behind him, —and became—a pillar of salt.
Aber sein Weib blickte um hinter ihm und ward zur Salzsäule.
27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning, unto the place where he had stood before Yahweh;
Und Abraham machte sich früh am Morgen auf nach dem Orte, wo er vor Jehovah gestanden;
28 and he looked out over the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and over all the face of the land of the circuit, and beheld and lo! the smoke of the land went up, like the smoke of a furnace.
Und schaute aus über Sodom und Gomorrah und über das ganze Land des Umkreises und er sah, und siehe da, es stieg der Qualm der Erde auf, wie der Qualm eines Ofens.
29 And it came to pass when God destroyed the cities of the circuit, that God remembered Abraham, and sent forth Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities wherein Lot had dwelt.
Und es geschah, als Gott die Städte des Umkreises verdarb, daß Gott des Abrahams gedachte, und Lot mitten aus der Zerstörung entsandte wie er die Städte umkehrte in denen Lot gewohnt.
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain and his two daughters with him. for he feared to dwell in Zoar, so he dwelt in a cave, he, and his two daughters.
Lot aber ging hinauf aus Zoar und wohnte auf dem Berge und seine zwei Töchter mit ihm; denn er fürchtete sich in Zoar zu wohnen; und er wohnte in der Höhle, er und seine zwei Töchter.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger. Our father is old, —and, a man, there is not in the earth to come in unto us, after the way of all the earth.
Und die Erstgeborene sprach zur Jüngeren: Unser Vater ist alt und kein Mann ist im Lande, der zu uns käme, nach der Weise der ganzen Erde.
32 Come on! let us cause our father to drink wine and let us lie with him, that we may keep alive from our father, a seed.
So komm, laß uns unserem Vater Wein zu trinken geben und bei ihm liegen, auf daß wir von unserem Vater Samen lebendig machen.
33 So they caused their father to drink wine that night, —and the firstborn went in. and lay with her father, but he noticed not her lying down nor her rising up.
Und sie ließen ihren Vater Wein trinken in derselben Nacht, und die Erstgeborene kam und lag bei ihrem Vater, und er wußte es nicht, da sie sich niederlegte, noch da sie aufstand.
34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Lo! I lay, last night with my father, let us cause him to drink wine this night also, and go thou in—lie with him, that we may keep alive from our father, a seed.
Und es geschah am morgenden Tag, daß die Erstgeborene zur Jüngeren sprach: Siehe ich bin gestern bei meinem Vater gelegen. Lassen wir ihn auch diese Nacht Wein trinken, und gehe du hinein und liege bei ihm, daß wir von unserem Vater Samen lebendig machen.
35 So they caused their father, on that night also to drink wine, and the younger arose, and lay with him, but he noticed not her lying down, nor her rising up.
Und sie ließen ihren Vater Wein trinken; und die Jüngere machte sich auf und lag bei ihm, und er wußte es nicht, da sie sich legte, noch da sie aufstand.
36 Thus did, the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father.
Und die zwei Töchter Lots empfingen von ihrem Vater.
37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab, —the same, is the father of Moab, unto this day.
Und die Erstgeborene gebar einen Sohn und nannte seinen Namen Moab. Er ist der Vater Moabs bis auf diesen Tag.
38 And the younger she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi, —the same, is the father of the sons of Ammon—unto this day.
Und die Jüngere gebar auch einen Sohn, und nannte seinen Namen Ben-Ammi. Er ist der Vater der Söhne Ammons bis auf diesen Tag.
