Ezekiel 4

1 Thou therefore O son of man Take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, —and portray thereon a city, even Jerusalem.

Et toi, fils de l'homme, prends une brique et la place devant toi, et y dessine une ville, Jérusalem.

2 Then shalt thou lay siege against it And build up against it a siege-wall And cast up against it, a mound, — And set against it camps, And place against it battering-rams, round about.

Et mets autour d'elle un siège, et élève autour d'elle des tours, et forme autour d'elle des terrasses, et mets autour d'elle un camp, et place à l'entour des béliers dirigés contre elle.

3 Thou, therefore take thee a pan of iron, and set it for a wall of iron, between thee and the city, —then shalt thou direct thy face against it and it shall come into siege and thou shalt lay siege to it, a sign, shall it be to the house of Israel.

Puis prends une chaudière de fer, et mets-la comme un mur de fer entre toi et la ville, et fixe tes regards du côté d'elle, et qu'ainsi elle soit en état de siège, et fais-en le siège. Que ce soit là un signe pour la maison d'Israël!

4 Thou, therefore lie thou on thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it, — during the number of the days which thou shalt lie thereon, shalt thou bear their punishment.

Puis couche-toi sur ton côté gauche, et tu y appliqueras l'iniquité de la maison d'Israël. Tu seras chargé de leur iniquité autant de jours que tu seras ainsi couché.

5 I therefore have appointed thee the years of their punishment, by the number of days a hundred and ninety days, —so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

Et moi, je te fixe pour le nombre des jours les années de leur iniquité, [savoir] trois cent quatre-vingt-dix jours: ainsi tu porteras l'iniquité de la maison d'Israël.

6 And when thou hast ended these, then shalt thou lie, on thy right side. a second time, and shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah, — forty days, one day for each year, have I appointed thee.

Et quand tu seras à leur terme, recouche-toi sur ton côté droit, et sois chargé de l'iniquité de la maison de Juda, pendant quarante jours: je te fixe chaque jour pour une année.

7 Thus then unto the siege of Jerusalem, shalt thou direct thy face, with thine arm made bare, —so shalt thou prophesy against it.

Et tourne vers le siège de Jérusalem tes regards et ton bras nu, et prophétise contre elle.

8 And lo! I have laid upon thee-bands, —and thou shalt not turn thee from thy one side to thine other, until thou have ended the days of thy siege.

Et voici, je te mets des chaînes, afin que tu ne te tournes pas d'un côté sur l'autre, jusqu'à ce que tu aies achevé les jours de ton siège.

9 Thou, therefore, take thee wheat and barley and peas and lentils and millet and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make them ready for thee as bread, —during the number of days which thou art lying on thy side. a hundred and ninety days, shalt thou eat it;

Et prends du froment, et de l'orge, et des fèves, et des lentilles, et du millet, et de l'épeautre, et mets-les dans un vase, et fais-en ton pain autant de jours que tu seras couché sur ton côté: tu en mangeras trois cent quatre-vingt-dix jours.

10 and thy food which thou shalt eat shall be by weight twenty shekels a day, — from time to time, shalt thou eat it;

Et la nourriture que tu mangeras, devra avoir un poids, celui de vingt sicles par jour: tu la mangeras d'un terme à l'autre terme.

11 and water by measure, shalt thou drink the sixth part of a hin, -from time to time shalt thou drink;

Et tu boiras de l'eau, selon une mesure, un sixième de hin: tu boiras d'un terme à l'autre terme.

12 and as a barley cake, shalt thou eat it, —and the same with dung proceeding from man, shalt thou bake, before their eyes.

Et tu mangeras des galettes d'orge que tu feras cuire avec des excréments humains sous leurs yeux.

13 Then said Yahweh, In like manner, shall the sons of Israel eat their bread defiled, —among the nations whither I will drive them.

Et l'Éternel dit: Ainsi les enfants d'Israël mangeront leur pain souillé, parmi les nations où je les exilerai.

14 Then said, I, Ah! My Lord. Yahweh, lo! my person, hath not been defiled: neither of what hath died of itself nor of what hath been torn in pieces: have I eaten, from my youthful days even unto now, neither hath come into my mouth the flesh of a foul thing.

Alors je dis: Ah! Seigneur Éternel, voici, mon âme ne s'est point souillée, et depuis ma jeunesse à maintenant je n'ai mangé ni corps mort, ni corps déchiré, et jamais viande impure n'entra dans ma bouche.

15 So then he said unto me, See I have granted thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, —and thou shalt prepare thy bread thereupon.

Et Il me dit: Voici, je te permets du fumier de vache, au lieu d'excréments humains, et tu apprêteras ton pain là-dessus.

16 And he said unto me, Son of man Behold me! breaking the staff of bread in Jerusalem, So shall they eat bread by weight and with anxious care, And water by measure, and in astonishment, shall they drink:

Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, voici, je vais détruire en Jérusalem le pain qui sustente, et ils mangeront un pain pesé, et dans le chagrin, et boiront une eau mesurée, et dans la stupeur;

17 that they may lack bread and water and be astonished one with another, and pine away in their punishment.

afin qu'ils manquent de pain et d'eau, et soient éperdus les uns et les autres, et se consument par leur iniquité.
