Luke 13
1 Now there were some present at that very season which told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
Or, en ce moment même, quelques personnes vinrent lui faire un rapport sur ces Galiléens, dont Pilate avait mêlé le sang avec celui de leurs victimes.
2 And he answered and said unto them, Think ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they have suffered these things?
Et il leur répliqua: « Vous imaginez-vous que ces Galiléens fussent plus pécheurs que tout le reste des Galiléens, parce qu'ils ont souffert de la sorte?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish.
Non, vous dis-je, mais si vous ne vous repentez, vous périrez tous de même.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them, think ye that they were offenders above all the men that dwell in Jerusalem?
Ou bien, ces dix-huit individus sur lesquels est tombée la tour dans les environs de Siloam, et qui en sont morts, vous imaginez-vous qu'ils fussent plus coupables que tous les hommes qui habitent Jérusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Non, vous dis-je, mais si vous ne vous repentez, vous périrez tous de la même manière. »
6 And he spake this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none.
Or il disait cette parabole: « Quelqu'un possédait un figuier planté dans sa vigne, et il vint y chercher du fruit et n'en trouva pas;
7 And he said unto the vinedresser, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why doth it also cumber the ground?
or il dit au vigneron: « Voici trois ans que je viens chercher du fruit sur ce figuier et que je n'en trouve point; coupe-le; pourquoi occupe-t-il encore inutilement la place? »
8 And he answering saith unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
Mais l'autre lui répliqua: « Seigneur, laisse-le encore cette année, jusques à ce que j'aie creusé alentour et que j'y aie mis du fumier;
9 and if it bear fruit thenceforth, [well]; but if not, thou shalt cut it down.
peut-être portera-t-il du fruit l'an qui vient; autrement tu le feras couper. »
10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath day.
Or il enseignait dans une des synagogues le jour du sabbat;
11 And behold, a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up.
et voici une femme possédée depuis dix-huit ans d'un esprit qui la rendait infirme, en sorte qu'elle se tenait courbée sans pouvoir se redresser du tout.
12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
Mais Jésus l'ayant vue, l'appela et lui dit: « Femme, sois délivrée de ton infirmité! »
13 And he laid his hands upon her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Et il lui imposa les mains, et immédiatement elle se redressa, et elle glorifiait Dieu.
14 And the ruler of the synagogue, being moved with indignation because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, answered and said to the multitude, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the day of the sabbath.
Mais le chef de la synagogue indigné de ce que Jésus avait opéré une guérison le jour du sabbat, disait à la foule: « Il y a six jours pendant lesquels il faut travailler, venez donc vous faire guérir ces jours-là, et non pas le jour du sabbat. »
15 But the Lord answered him, and said, Ye hypocrites, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
Mais le Seigneur lui répliqua: « Hypocrites, est-ce que chacun de vous ne détache pas de la crèche son bœuf ou son âne le jour du sabbat, pour le mener boire?
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo, [these] eighteen years, to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the sabbath?
Et celle-ci, qui est une fille d'Abraham, et que Satan tenait liée voici dix-huit ans, il ne fallait pas la détacher de cette chaîne le jour du sabbat! »
17 And as he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame: and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
Et pendant qu'il parlait ainsi tous ses adversaires étaient couverts de confusion, et toute la foule se réjouissait de toutes les merveilles opérées par lui.
18 He said therefore, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I liken it?
Il disait donc: « A quoi ressemble le royaume de Dieu, et à quoi le comparerai-je?
19 It is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his own garden; and it grew, and became a tree; and the birds of the heaven lodged in the branches thereof.
Il est semblable à un grain de moutarde, qu'un homme a pris et jeté dans son jardin, et il a crû et il est devenu un arbre, et les oiseaux du ciel se sont abrités dans ses branches. »
20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?
Et il dit derechef: « A quoi comparerai-je le royaume de Dieu?
21 It is like unto leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.
Il est semblable à du levain qu'une femme a pris et pétri dans trois mesures de farine, jusques à ce que le tout fût levé. »
22 And he went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and journeying on unto Jerusalem.
Et il traversait villes et villages, enseignant et faisant route vers Jérusalem.
23 And one said unto him, Lord, are they few that be saved? And he said unto them,
Or quelqu'un lui dit: « Seigneur, ceux qui sont sauvés, sont-ils en petit nombre? » Mais il leur dit:
24 Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
« Efforcez-vous d'entrer par la porte étroite, car beaucoup, je vous le déclare, chercheront à entrer et ne le pourront pas.
25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he shall answer and say to you, I know you not whence ye are;
Dès que le chef, de famille se sera levé et aura fermé la porte, et que vous commencerez à vous tenir dehors et à heurter à la porte, en disant: « Seigneur, ouvre-nous, » et qu'il vous répliquera: « Je ne sais pas d'où vous êtes, »
26 then shall ye begin to say, We did eat and drink in thy presence, and thou didst teach in our streets;
alors vous vous mettrez à dire: « Nous mangions et nous buvions en ta présence, et c'est dans nos rues que tu as enseigné. »
27 and he shall say, I tell you, I know not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
Et il vous dira: « Je ne sais d'où vous êtes; éloignez-vous de moi, vous tous qui êtes des ouvriers d'iniquité. »
28 There shall be the weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and yourselves cast forth without.
Là sera le pleur et le grincement des dents, lorsque vous verrez Abraham et Isaac et Jacob et tous les prophètes dans le royaume de Dieu, tandis que vous serez, exclus.
29 And they shall come from the east and west, and from the north and south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
Et il en viendra d'orient et d'occident, et du nord et du midi, et ils se mettront à table dans le royaume de Dieu.
30 And behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
Et voici, il y en a des derniers qui seront des premiers, et il y en a des premiers qui seront des derniers. »
31 In that very hour there came certain Pharisees, saying to him, Get thee out, and go hence: for Herod would fain kill thee.
Au même moment quelques pharisiens survinrent qui lui dirent: « Sors, et éloigne-toi d'ici, car Hérode veut te faire périr. »
32 And he said unto them, Go and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out devils and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third [day] I am perfected.
Et il leur dit: « Allez dire à ce renard: Voici, je chasse les démons, et j'opérerai des guérisons aujourd'hui et demain; et le troisième jour j'ai fini;
33 Howbeit I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the [day] following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
néanmoins il faut que je continue ma route aujourd'hui, demain, et le jour suivant, car il n'est pas reçu qu'un prophète meure hors de Jérusalem.
34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen [gathereth] her own brood under her wings, and ye would not!
Jérusalem, Jérusalem, qui tue les prophètes et qui lapide ceux qui lui sont envoyés, que de fois j'ai voulu rassembler tes enfants comme une poule rassemble sa couvée sous ses ailes, et vous ne l'avez pas voulu!
35 Behold, your house is left unto you [desolate]: and I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Voici, votre demeure vous est laissée; mais, je vous le déclare, vous ne me verrez certainement plus jusques à ce que vous disiez: « Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! »
