Job 39
1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? [or] canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
なんぢ岩間の山羊が子を産む時をしるや また麀鹿の産に臨むを見しや
2 Canst thou number the months that they fulfill? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
なんぢ是等の在胎の月を數へうるや また是等が産む時を知るや
3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young, they cast out their sorrows.
これらは身を鞠めて子を産みその痛苦を出す
4 Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up in the open field; they go forth, and return not again,
またその子は強くなりて野に育ち 出ゆきて再たびその親にかへらず
5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
誰が野驢馬を放ちて自由にせしや 誰が野驢馬の繋繩を解しや
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the salt land his dwelling place.
われ野をその家となし 荒野をその住所となせり
7 He scorneth the tumult of the city, neither heareth he the shoutings of the driver.
是は邑の喧閙を賤しめ 馭者の號呼を聽いれず
8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
山を走まはりて草を食ひ 各種の青き物を尋ぬ
9 Will the wild-ox be content to serve thee? or will he abide by thy crib?
兕肯て汝に事へ なんぢの飼草槽の傍にとどまらんや
10 Canst thou bind the wild-ox with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
なんぢ兕に綱附て阡陌をあるかせ得んや 是あに汝にしたがひて谷に馬鈀を牽んや
11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave to him thy labour?
その力おほいなればとて汝これに恃まんや またなんぢの工事をこれに任せんや
12 Wilt thou confide in him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather [the corn of] thy threshingfloor?
なんぢこれにたよりて己が穀物を運びかへらせ之を打禾塲にあつめしめんや
13 The wing of the ostrich rejoiceth, [but] are her pinions and feathers kindly?
駝鳥は歡然にその翼を皷ふ 然どもその羽と毛とはあに鶴にしかんや
14 For she leaveth her eggs on the earth, and warmeth them in the dust,
是はその卵を土の中に棄おき これを砂の中にて暖たまらしめ
15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may trample them.
足にてその潰さるべきと 野の獸のこれを踐むべきとを思はず
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as if they were not hers: though her labour be in vain, [she is] without fear;
これはその子に情なくして宛然おのれの子ならざるが如くし その劬勞の空しくなるも繋念ところ無し
17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
是は神これに智慧を授けず穎悟を與へざるが故なり
18 What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
その身をおこして走るにおいては馬をもその騎手をも嘲るべし
19 Hast thou given the horse [his] might? hast thou clothed his neck with the quivering mane?
なんぢ馬に力を與へしや その頸に勇ましき鬣を粧ひしや
20 Hast thou made him to leap as a locust? the glory of his snorting is terrible.
なんぢ之を蝗蟲のごとく飛しむるや その嘶なく聲の響は畏るべし
21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth out to meet the armed men.
谷を踋爬て力に誇り 自ら進みて兵士に向ふ
22 He mocketh at fear, and is not dismayed; neither turneth he back from the sword.
懼るることを笑ひて驚ろくところ無く 劍にむかふとも退ぞかず
23 The quiver rattleth against him, the flashing spear and the javelin.
矢筒その上に鳴り 鎗に矛あひきらめく
24 He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage; neither believeth he that it is the voice of the trumpet.
猛りつ狂ひつ地を一呑にし 喇叭の聲鳴わたるも立どまる事なし
25 As oft as the trumpet [soundeth] he saith, Aha! and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
喇叭の鳴ごとにハーハーと言ひ遠方より戰鬪を嗅つけ 將帥の大聲および吶喊聲を聞しる
26 Doth the hawk soar by thy wisdom, [and] stretch her wings toward the south?
鷹の飛かけり その羽翼を舒て南に向ふは豈なんぢの智慧によるならんや
27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
鷲の翔のぼり 高き處に巣を營なむは豈なんぢの命令に依んや
28 She dwelleth on the rock, and hath her lodging [there], upon the crag of the rock, and the strong hold.
これは岩の上に住所を構へ 岩の尖所または峻險き所に居り
29 From thence she spieth out the prey; her eyes behold it afar off.
其處よりして攫むべき物をうかがふ その目のおよぶところ遠し
30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
その子等もまた血を吸ふ 凡そ殺されし者のあるところには是そこに在り
