2 Samuel 1
1 And it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
੧ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਿਕਲਗ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਠਹਿਰਿਆ ਸੀ।
2 it came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
੨ਤਦ ਤੀਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖੋ, ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਡੇਰਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ।
3 And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
੩ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਡੇਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, The people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
੪ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੋਈ? ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਤਾਂ ਸਹੀ! ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਲੋਕ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨੱਠ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਮਰ ਵੀ ਗਏ, ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਵੀ ਮਰ ਗਏ।
5 And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
੫ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਜੁਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਮਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ?
6 And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and the horsemen followed hard after him.
੬ਉਸ ਜੁਆਨ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਸੀ ਆਖਿਆ, ਸੰਜੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਪਰਬਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਰਛੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਢਾਸਣਾ ਲਾਈ ਪਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਘੁੜਸਵਾਰ ਵੱਡੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.
੭ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੀ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ!
8 And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.
੮ਉਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ? ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀ ਹਾਂ।
9 And he said unto me, Stand, I pray thee, beside me, and slay me, for anguish hath taken hold of me; because my life is yet whole in me.
੯ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਪੀੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਵੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।
10 So I stood beside him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
੧੦ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਬਚਣਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਟ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਕੜਾ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਲਾਹ ਲਿਆ ਸੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:
੧੧ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਪਾੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ।
12 and they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
੧੨ਓਹ ਰੋਏ-ਪਿੱਟੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
੧੩ਫਿਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਜੁਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਸੀ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੀ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀ ਹਾਂ।
14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to put forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’S anointed?
੧੪ਸੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅਭਿਸ਼ੇਕ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੱਥ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਡਰ ਨਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ?
15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
੧੫ਫਿਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਜੁਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਜਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟ! ਸੋ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ।
16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’S anointed.
੧੬ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੇਰਾ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਆਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅਭਿਸ਼ੇਕ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ!
17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
੧੭ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ,
18 And he bade them teach the children of Judah [the song of] the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jashar.
੧੮ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਣ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਯਾਸ਼ਰ ਦੀ ਪੋਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ:
19 Thy glory, O Israel, is slain upon thy high places! how are the mighty fallen!
੧੯ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ, ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਰੋਮਣੀ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਹਾਏ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਿਆ!
20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Ashkelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
੨੦ਗਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਨਾ ਦੱਸੋ, ਅਸ਼ਕਲੋਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋਣ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਅਸੁੰਨਤੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਉਣ।
21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain upon you, neither fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.
੨੧ਹੇ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤੋਂ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਾ ਤ੍ਰੇਲ, ਨਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਪਵੇ, ਨਾ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੈਲੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉੱਥੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਢਾਲ਼ ਅਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ, ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੀ ਢਾਲ਼, ਜਾਣੋ ਉਹ ਤੇਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਸਹ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ!
22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
੨੨ਵੱਢਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਹੂ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਬੀ ਤੋਂ, ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਣ ਨਾ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਮੁੜੀ, ਨਾ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਸੱਖਣੀ ਮੁੜੀ।
23 Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided; they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
੨੩ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਭਰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਨਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੌਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੀ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਏ। ਉਹ ਉਕਾਬਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਤੇਜ਼, ਅਤੇ ਬੱਬਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਤਕੜੇ ਸਨ।
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet delicately, who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
੨੪ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਧੀਓ, ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਲਈ ਰੋਵੋ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨਾਏ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਜਾਇਆ।
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slain upon thy high places.
੨੫ਹਾਏ! ਓਹ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਢੇਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ! ਹੇ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ!
26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
੨੬ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੀ: ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਚਰਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸੀ, ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ!
27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
੨੭ਹਾਏ! ਉਹ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਢੇਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਅਤੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਗਏ!
