1 Samuel 26

1 And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert?

Y vinieron los zifeos a Saúl en Gabaa, diciendo: ¿No está David escondido en el collado de Haquila delante del desierto?

2 Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

Saúl entonces se levantó, y descendió al desierto de Zif, llevando consigo tres mil hombres escogidos de Israel, para buscar a David en el desierto de Zif.

3 And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.

Y asentó Saúl el campamento en el collado de Haquila, que está delante del desierto junto al camino. Y estaba David en el desierto, y entendió que Saúl le seguía en el desierto.

4 David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come of a certainty.

David, por tanto envió espías, y entendió por cierto que Saúl venía.

5 And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay within the place of the wagons, and the people pitched round about him.

Y se levantó David, y vino al sitio donde Saúl había asentado el campamento; y miró David el lugar donde dormía Saúl, y Abner hijo de Ner, general de su ejército. Y Saúl dormía en la trinchera, y el pueblo estaba por el campamento en derredor de él.

6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.

Entonces habló David, y dijo a Ahimelec heteo, y a Abisai hijo de Sarvia, hermano de Joab, diciendo: ¿Quién descenderá conmigo a Saúl al campamento? Y dijo Abisai: Yo descenderé contigo.

7 So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the place of the wagons, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head: and Abner and the people lay round about him.

David, pues, y Abisai vinieron al pueblo de noche; y he aquí Saúl que estaba tendido durmiendo en la trinchera, y su lanza hincada en tierra a su cabecera; y Abner y el pueblo estaban alrededor de él tendidos.

8 Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered up thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear to the earth at one stroke, and I will not smite him the second time.

Entonces dijo Abisai a David: Hoy ha entregado Dios a tu enemigo en tus manos; ahora, pues, lo heriré presto con la lanza, y lo enclavaré en la tierra de un golpe, y no segundaré.

9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can put forth his hand against the LORD’S anointed, and be guiltless?

Y David respondió a Abisai: No le mates; porque ¿quién extendió su mano contra el ungido del SEÑOR, y fue inocente?

10 And David said, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle, and perish.

Dijo además David: Vive el SEÑOR, que si el SEÑOR no lo hiriere, o que su día llegue para que muera, o que descendiendo en batalla perezca,

11 The LORD forbid that I should put forth mine hand against the LORD’S anointed: but now take, I pray thee, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water, and let us go.

me guarde el SEÑOR de extender mi mano contra el ungido del SEÑOR; pero toma ahora la lanza que está a su cabecera, y la botija del agua, y vámonos.

12 So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul’s head; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither did any awake: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.

Se llevó, pues, David la lanza y la botija de agua de la cabecera de Saúl, y se fueron; que no hubo nadie que viese, ni entendiese, ni velase, pues todos dormían; porque un profundo sueño enviado del SEÑOR había caído sobre ellos.

13 Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of the mountain afar off; a great space being between them:

Y pasando David al otro lado, se puso fuera del camino en la cumbre del monte, habiendo gran distancia entre ellos;

14 and David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saving, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?

y dio voces David al pueblo, y a Abner hijo de Ner, diciendo: ¿No respondes, Abner? Entonces Abner respondió y dijo: ¿Quién eres tú que das voces al rey?

15 And David said to Abner, Art not thou a [valiant] man? and who is like thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept watch over thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.

Y dijo David a Abner: ¿No eres varón tú? ¿Y quién hay como tú en Israel? ¿Por qué, pues, no has guardado al rey tu señor? Que ha entrado uno del pueblo a matar a tu señor el rey.

16 This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept watch over your lord, the LORD’S anointed. And now, see, where the king’s spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head.

Esto que has hecho, no está bien. Vive el SEÑOR, que sois dignos de muerte, que no habéis guardado a vuestro señor, al ungido del SEÑOR. Mira, pues, ahora dónde está la lanza del rey, y la botija del agua que estaba a su cabecera.

17 And Saul knew David’s voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.

Y conociendo Saúl la voz de David, dijo: ¿No es ésta tu voz, hijo mío David? Y David respondió: Mi voz es, rey señor mío.

18 And he said, Wherefore doth my lord pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand?

Y dijo: ¿Por qué persigue así mi señor a su siervo? ¿Qué he hecho? ¿Qué mal hay en mi mano?

19 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it be the LORD that hath stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if it be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day that I should not cleave unto the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.

Ruego, pues, que el rey mi señor oiga ahora las palabras de su siervo. Si el SEÑOR te incita contra mí, huela él el olor del sacrificio; mas si fueren hijos de hombres, malditos sean ellos en presencia del SEÑOR, que me han echado hoy para que no me junte en la heredad del SEÑOR, diciendo: Ve y sirve a dioses ajenos.

20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains.

No caiga, pues, ahora mi sangre en tierra delante del SEÑOR; porque ha salido el rey de Israel a buscar una pulga, así como quien persigue una perdiz por los montes.

21 Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my life was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.

Entonces dijo Saúl: He pecado; vuélvete, hijo mío David, que ningún mal te haré más, pues que mi vida ha sido estimada hoy en tus ojos. He aquí, yo he hecho locamente, y he errado mucho y en gran manera.

22 And David answered and said, Behold the spear, O king! let then one of the young men come over and fetch it.

Y David respondió, y dijo: He aquí la lanza del rey; pase acá uno de los criados, y tómela.

23 And the LORD shall render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: forasmuch as the LORD delivered thee into my hand today, and I would not put forth mine hand against the LORD’S anointed.

Y el SEÑOR pague a cada uno su justicia y su lealtad; que el SEÑOR te había entregado hoy en mi mano, mas yo no quise extender mi mano sobre el ungido del SEÑOR.

24 And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.

Y he aquí, como tu vida ha sido estimada hoy en mis ojos, así sea mi vida estimada en los ojos del SEÑOR, y me libre de toda aflicción.

25 Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do mightily, and shalt surely prevail. So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.

Y Saúl dijo a David: Bendito eres tú, hijo mío David; sin duda ejecutarás tú grandes empresas, y prevalecerás. Entonces David se fue su camino, y Saúl se volvió a su lugar.
