1 Samuel 21
1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?
೧ದಾವೀದನು ನೋಬ್ ಊರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಅಹೀಮೆಲೆಕನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅಹೀಮೆಲೆಕನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ, ನೀನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಬಂದದ್ದೇಕೆ?” ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed the young men to such and such a place.
೨ಅವನು, “ಅರಸನು ಒಂದು ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ, ಇದನ್ನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಸಬಾರದೆಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನನ್ನ ಆಳುಗಳು ಇಂಥಿಂಥ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
3 Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or whatsoever there is present.
೩ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾದರೂ ಉಂಟೋ? ನಾಲ್ಕೈದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳಾದರೂ, ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಆಹಾರಪದಾರ್ಥವಾದರೂ ಇದ್ದರೆ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟುಬಿಡು” ಎಂದನು.
4 And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.
೪ಯಾಜಕನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೀಸಲು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿನ್ನ ಆಳುಗಳು ಸ್ತ್ರೀಸಂಗ ಬಿಟ್ಟವರಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬಹುದು” ಎಂದನು.
5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days; When I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was but a common journey; how much more then today shall their vessels be holy?
೫ದಾವೀದನು, “ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಸಂಗವನ್ನು ನಿಷೇಧಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಈಗಲೂ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಾವು ಸಾಧಾರಣ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟಾಗಲೂ ಆಳುಗಳು, ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಈ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವು ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದಲ್ಲವೇ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು
6 So the priest gave him holy [bread]: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
೬ಬಿಸಿರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವಾದ ಮೊದಲ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳ ಹೊರತು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲವಾದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಯಾಜಕನು ಆ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನೇ ಕೊಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.
೭ಅದೇ ದಿನ ಸೌಲನ ಪಶುಪಾಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನನಾದ ದೋಯೇಗನೆಂಬ ಎದೋಮ್ಯನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು.
8 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.
೮ದಾವೀದನು ಅಹೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನು, “ಅರಸನ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ತುರ್ತಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಬೇರೆ ಆಯುಧವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರ್ಜಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slowest in the vale of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
೯ಅವನು, “ನೀನು ಏಲಾ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನ ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಒಂದು ಬಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುತ್ತಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು, ಏಫೋದಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊ. ಅದರ ಹೊರತು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೊಂದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ದಾವೀದನು, “ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನವಾದದ್ದು ಮತ್ತೊಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದನ್ನೇ ಕೊಡು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು.
10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
೧೦ದಾವೀದನನು ಸೌಲನ ಭಯದಿಂದ ಅದೇ ದಿನ ಗತ್ ಊರಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಆಕೀಷನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದನು.
11 And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
೧೧ಆಕೀಷನ ಸೇವಕರು, “ಸೌಲನು ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು, ದಾವೀದನು ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಕುಣಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಹಾಡಿದ್ದು ಇವನ ಕುರಿತಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
೧೨ದಾವೀದನು ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಲೇ ಗತ್ ಊರಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಆಕೀಷನಿಗೆ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಹೆದರಿ,
13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
೧೩ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮುಂದೆ ತನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾರ್ಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಗಡ್ಡದ ಮೇಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಜೊಲ್ಲು ಸುರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆರೆಯುತ್ತಾ, ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಹುಚ್ಚನಂತೆ ನಟಿಸಿದನು.
14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?
೧೪ಆಗ ಆಕೀಷನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಹುಚ್ಚನೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ, ಇವನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಯಾಕೆ ಕರೆತಂದಿರಿ?
15 Do I lack mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
೧೫ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಚ್ಚರು ಕಡಿಮೆಯೆಂದು ನೆನಸಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೇಸರಗೊಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಇವನನ್ನು ಕರೆತಂದಿರೋ? ಇಂಥವನೂ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬರಬೇಕೋ?” ಅಂದನು.
