Titus 3
1 Remind them to respect and obey the rulers and authorities, to be ready for every kind of good work, to slander no one, to avoid quarrelling,
Erinnere sie, Obrigkeiten und Gewalten untertan zu sein, Gehorsam zu leisten, zu jedem guten Werke bereit zu sein;
2 to be reasonable, and under all circumstances to show a gentle spirit with all.
niemand zu lästern, nicht streitsüchtig zu sein, gelinde, alle Sanftmut erweisend gegen alle Menschen.
3 There was a time when we ourselves were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all kinds of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hating ourselves and hating one another.
Denn einst waren auch wir unverständig, ungehorsam, irregehend, dienten mancherlei Lüsten und Vergnügungen, führten unser Leben in Bosheit und Neid, verhaßt und einander hassend.
4 But, when the kindness of God our Saviour and his love for humanity appeared, he saved us,
Als aber die Güte und die Menschenliebe unseres Heiland-Gottes erschien,
5 not as the result of any righteous actions that we had done, but due to his mercy. He saved us though the washing of rebirth and renewal by the power of the Holy Spirit,
errettete er uns, nicht aus [O. auf dem Grundsatz von] Werken, die, in Gerechtigkeit vollbracht, wir getan hatten, sondern nach seiner Barmherzigkeit durch die Waschung der Wiedergeburt und Erneuerung des Heiligen Geistes,
6 which he poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour –
welchen er reichlich über uns ausgegossen hat durch Jesum Christum, unseren Heiland,
7 so that, having been put right with God through his grace, we become heirs to the hope of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
auf daß wir, gerechtfertigt durch seine Gnade, Erben würden nach der Hoffnung des ewigen Lebens. [O. der Hoffnung nach Erben des ewigen Lebens würden] (aiōnios g166)
8 This saying is trustworthy! And it is on these subjects that I want you to lay special emphasis, so that those who have learned to trust in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing good. Such subjects are excellent in themselves, and of benefit to all.
Das Wort ist gewiß; [O. zuverlässig, treu] und ich will, daß du auf diesen Dingen fest bestehst, auf daß die, welche Gott geglaubt haben, Sorge tragen, gute Werke zu betreiben. Dies ist gut und nützlich für die Menschen.
9 But have nothing to do with foolish controversies, or with genealogies, or with quarrels, or fights about the Law. They are useless and futile.
Törichte Streitfragen aber und Geschlechtsregister und Zänkereien und Streitigkeiten über das Gesetz vermeide, denn sie sind unnütz und eitel.
10 If someone is causing divisions among you then, after giving them a second warning, excuse yourself from them.
Einen sektiererischen Menschen weise ab nach einer ein- und zweimaligen Zurechtweisung,
11 You can be sure that such a person has forsaken the truth and is in the wrong. They stand self-condemned.
da du weißt, daß ein solcher verkehrt ist und sündigt, indem er durch sich selbst verurteilt ist.
12 As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, join me as quickly as possible at Nicopolis, for I have arranged to spend the winter there.
Wenn ich Artemas oder Tychikus zu dir senden werde, so befleißige dich, zu mir nach Nikopolis zu kommen, denn ich habe beschlossen, daselbst zu überwintern.
13 Do your best to help Zenas, the teacher of the Law, and Apollos, on their way, and see that they want for nothing.
Zenas, dem Gesetzgelehrten, und Apollos gib mit Sorgfalt das Geleit, [O. rüste mit Sorgfalt für die Reise aus] auf daß ihnen nichts mangle.
14 Let all our people learn to devote themselves to doing good, so as to meet the most pressing needs, and that their lives may not be unfruitful.
Laß aber auch die Unsrigen lernen, für die notwendigen Bedürfnisse gute Werke zu betreiben, auf daß sie nicht unfruchtbar seien.
