+ Psalms 1 >

1 Happy are those who do not follow the counsel of the wicked, not halting in ways frequented by sinners, nor taking a seat in a gathering of scoffers.
Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men.
2 But the law of the Lord is their joy, they study it day and night.
But his pleasure is in the law of the Lord; and in his law will he meditate day and night.
3 They are like trees planted by runlets of water, yielding fruit in due season, leaves never fading. In all that they do, they prosper.
And he shall be as a tree planted by the brooks of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf shall not fall off; and whatever he shall do shall be prospered.
4 Not so fare the wicked, not so; like chaff are they, blown by the wind.
Not so the ungodly; —not so: but rather as the chaff which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth.
5 So the wicked will not stand firm in the judgment, nor sinners appear, when the righteous are gathered.
Therefore the ungodly shall not rise in judgment, nor sinners in the counsel of the just.
6 For the way of the righteous is dear to the Lord, but the way of the wicked will end in ruin.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
