< Psalms 84 >

1 For the leader. On the gittith. Of the Korahites, a psalm. How dearly loved is the place where you live, Lord of hosts!
To the Chief Musician. On "the Gittith." For the Sons of Korah. A Melody. How lovely are thy habitations, O Yahweh of hosts!
2 How I long and yearn for the courts of the Lord. Now heart and flesh cry for joy to the living God.
My soul, longeth—yea even languisheth—for the courts of Yahweh, —My heart and my flesh, shout aloud for a Living GOD.
3 Even the sparrow has found her a home and the swallow a nest, to lay her young, near your altar, Lord of hosts, my king and my God.
Even the sparrow, hath found a home, And, the swallow, a nest for herself, where she hath laid her young, Thine altars, O Yahweh of hosts, My king and my God!
4 Happy those who live in your house, praising you evermore. (Selah)
How happy are they who abide in thy house, —Still are they praising thee. (Selah)
5 Happy those whose strength is in you, people with pilgrim hearts.
How happy the men whose strength is in thee, Festive processions are in their heart.
6 As they pass through the valley of tears, they make it a place of fountains, clothed with the blessings of early rain.
Passing through the balsam-vale, A place of fountains, they make it, Yea, with blessings, is it covered by the early rain.
7 From rampart to rampart on they march, till at last God reveals himself in Zion.
They go from strength to strength, Each one appeareth before God in Zion.
8 Lord, God of hosts, hear my prayer, attend, O God of Jacob. (Selah)
O Yahweh, God of hosts, hear thou my prayer, —Give hear, thou God of Jacob. (Selah)
9 Behold, O God, our defender, and look upon your anointed,
Our Shield, behold thou, O God, And look upon the face of thine Anointed One.
10 for better a single day in your courts than a thousand in my own chambers: better stand at the door of the house of my God than live in the tents of ungodliness,
For better is a day in thy courts, than a thousand, I choose rather to stand at the threshold in the house of my God, Than to dwell in the tents of lawlessness.
11 for the Lord is sun and shield, the Lord gives grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from the life that is blameless.
For, a sun and shield, is Yahweh God, —Grace and glory, will Yahweh give, He will not withhold what is good, from them who walk without blame.
12 Lord of hosts, happy those whose trust is in you.
O Yahweh of hosts! How happy the man who trusteth in thee!
