< Psalms 146 >

1 My soul, praise the Lord.
Alleluia, [a Psalm] of Aggaeus and Zacharias. My soul, praise the Lord.
2 I will praise the Lord, while I live; I will sing to my God, while I am.
While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.
3 Put not your trust in princes mortals, in whom is no help.
Trust not in princes, nor in the children of men, in whom there is no safety.
4 When their breath goes out, they go back to the dust: on that very day their purposes perish.
His breath shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth; in that day all his thoughts shall perish.
5 Happy those whose help is the God of Jacob: whose hope is set on the Lord their God,
Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
6 the Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them. He remains eternally loyal.
who made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all things in them: who keeps truth for ever:
7 For the wronged he executes justice; he gives bread to the hungry; the Lord releases the prisoners.
who executes judgment for the wronged: who gives food to the hungry. The Lord looses the fettered ones:
8 The Lord gives sight to the blind: the Lord raises those who are bowed. The Lord loves the righteous.
the Lord gives wisdom to the blind: The Lord sets up the broken down: the Lord loves the righteous: the Lord preserves the strangers;
9 The Lord preserves the stranger, upholds the widow and orphan, but the wicked he leads to disaster.
he will relieve the orphan and widow: but will utterly remove the way of sinners.
10 The Lord shall reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Hallelujah.
The Lord shall reign for ever, [even] thy God, O Sion, to all generations.
