< Psalms 129 >

1 A song of ascents. ‘Sore have they vexed me from youth’ thus let Israel say
U A hoopilikia pinepine mai lakou ia'u, Mai ko'u wa opiopio mai, wahi a ka Iseraela;
2 ‘Sore have they vexed me from youth, but they have not prevailed against me.
Ua hoopilikia pinepine mai lakou ia'u, mai ko'u wa opiopio mai; Aole nae lakou i lanakila mai maluna o'u.
3 ‘The ploughers ploughed on my back, they made their furrows long.
Ma ko'u kua i kahakaha ai ka poe kahakaha; A hana lakou i ko lakou kaha a loihi.
4 But the Lord, who is righteous, has cut the cords of the wicked.’
Ua pono no o Iehova; Ua oki mai oia i na kaula o ka poe hewa.
5 Let all who are haters of Zion be put to shame and defeated.
E hoohilahilaia a e hoihoi hope ia mai, Ka poe a pau e inaina mai ia Ziona.
6 May they be as the grass on the house-top, which withers before it shoots up;
E like auanei lakou, me ka mauu maluna o na hale, Mae wale, ia mamua o ka liko ana.
7 which fills not the arms of the reaper, nor the lap of the binder of sheaves
Aole e piha ka lima o ka mea i oki iho, Aole hoi ka umauma o ka mea hoopua i na pua.
8 whereof no one says as they pass, ‘The blessing of God be upon you.’ In the name of the Lord we bless you.
Aole hoi e olelo mai ka poe e hele ae, Maluna o oukou auanei ka hoomaikai ana o Iehova: Ke hoomaikai aku nei makou ia oukou ma ka inoa o Iehova.
