< Habakkuk 2 >

1 I will take my stand on my watch-tower, and station myself on a turret. I will watch to see what the Lord will say to me, what answer he will make to my complaint.
Kale ndiyimirira mu kifo kyange we ntera okubeera ntunule nga ndi waggulu eyo ku ggulumu nnindirire ky’aliŋŋamba, era ne kye ndimuddamu ekikwata ku kwemulugunya kw’abantu.
2 Then the Lord answered me and said: Inscribe the vision plainly on tablets, so that even someone running by could read it.
Awo Mukama n’anziramu n’ayogera nti, “Wandiika okwolesebwa okwo ku bipande. Kuwandiike bulungi ate omubaka gwe banaatuma, akutwale bunnambiro.
3 Though the vision waits for the time set, it hastens to fulfilment and will not fail; Though it linger long, wait for it. For it surely will come and will not be delayed.
Kubanga okwolesebwa okwo kujja mu kiseera kyakwo ekigere. Kwogera ku by’enkomerero ate si kwa bulimba. Bwe kunaaba ng’okuluddewo, mukulindirire, kujja kutuukirira, tekugya kulwa.
4 The strength of the proud fails, but the upright lives by their faithfulness.
“Laba oyo ow’emmeeme eteri nnongoofu wa kugwa, naye omutuukirivu aliba mulamu olw’obwesigwa bwe.”
5 Wealth is treacherous, the arrogant never have enough. They make their desire as wide as Sheol, are like death, unsatisfied, For they gather to themselves all the nations, bring together to themselves all peoples. (Sheol h7585)
Weewaawo, omwenge mulimba guleetera omuntu amalala, ate taguwummulako. Ate olwokubanga gwa mululu ng’emagombe, mu butakkuta gufaanana okufa. Era okufaanana ng’olumbe, tegukkuta, amawanga gonna gugeekuŋŋanyizaako ne gugafuula abasibe. (Sheol h7585)
6 Shouldn’t everyone mock them? sing a taunt-song against them, and say: Woe to the person who amasses what is not theirs, and loads them self down with goods taken in pledge!
“Bano bonna si be balimugererako engero bamusekerere nga bagamba nti, “‘Zimusanze oyo eyeyongeza ebitali bibye! Oyo eyeetuumako obugagga obuva mu nguzi!’
7 Won’t your creditors suddenly rise, and those who will overthrow you awake, and you become their prey?
Abakubanja tebalikuyimukirako nga tomanyiridde, era tebalizuukuka ne bakweraliikiriza? Oliba togudde mu mikono gyabwe?
8 For as you have plundered many peoples, the survivors will prey upon you. You have shed blood and committed violence to the earth, peoples and their cities.
Kubanga onyaze amawanga mangi, abantu abasigaddewo balikunyaga; Oyiye omusaayi gw’abantu, n’oyonoona ensi n’ebibuga n’abantu bonna ababibeeramu.”
9 Woe to you who seeks unjust gain for your dynasty, who sets your nest on high to be safe from the reach of misfortune!
Zimusanze oyo azimbira amaka ge ku bikolwa ebibi, azimba ekisu kye waggulu, okwekuuma obutatuukwako kabi!
10 You have planned only shame for your dynasty. You have destroyed many peoples, and brought guilt upon yourself;
Wategeka okuzikirira kw’abantu bangi, n’oswaza ennyumba yo ne weefiiriza obulamu bwo.
11 the stone will cry out from the wall, and the beam from the timber will answer it.
Amayinja g’oku bbugwe galikaaba, n’emikiikiro gy’ebibajje girikyasanguza.
12 Woe to the person who builds a city by bloodshed, and founds a town by crime
Zimusanze oyo azimba ekibuga n’omusaayi, atandika ekibuga n’obutali butuukirivu.
13 while the peoples toil for what fires will consume, and the nations weary themselves for nothing! This the Lord of hosts has said,
Tekyategekebwa Mukama ow’Eggye nti okutegana kw’abantu nku buku za muliro, n’amawanga geemalamu ensa olw’ebintu ebitaliimu?
14 and the earth will be as full of the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the seas are full of water.
Kubanga ensi erijjula okumanya ekitiibwa kya Mukama, ng’amazzi bwe ganjaala ku nnyanja.
15 Woe to him who in fury gives drink to his neighbor to make him drunk, and see him naked.
Zimusanze oyo awa baliraanwa be ekitamiiza n’akibafukira okuva mu kita n’abawa banywe okutuusa lwe batamiira asobole okutunuulira ensonyi zaabwe!
16 You are filled with shame, not glory; drink yourself and be uncovered. The cup from the Lord’s hand will pass in turn to you, and shame will cover your glory!
Olijjuzibwa ensonyi mu kifo ky’ekitiibwa. Naawe olinywa n’oswala. Ekikompe eky’omu mukono gwa Mukama ogwa ddyo kirikyusibwa kidde gy’oli, n’ensonyi ez’obuwemu zisaanikire ekitiibwa kyo.
17 For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, the destruction of animals will terrify you, because you shed people’s blood on the earth, destroyed people and their cities.
Ebikolwa eby’obukambwe bye watuusa ku Lebanooni, n’okutta ensolo, birikutiisa. Osse abantu n’ozikkiriza ensi n’ebibuga n’abantu ababibeeramu.
18 What use is an idol? A human made it, a metal image. It cannot speak, it cannot teach truth, Why does its maker trust it?
“Ekifaananyi ekyole kigasa ki? Anti kibajje bubazzi. Oba ekifaananyi eky’ekyuma, ekisomesa obulimba? Kubanga omuweesi yeesiga mirimu gya mikono gye nga akola ebifaananyi ebitayogera!
19 Woe to the person who says to a block, awake! to a dumb stone, arise! What can it teach? It may be set with gold and silver, but there is no breath at all within it.
Zimusanze oyo agamba omuti nti, ‘Lamuka;’ agamba ejjinja nti, ‘Golokoka!’ Kino kisobola okuluŋŋamya? Kibikiddwa zaabu ne ffeeza, so tekiriimu bulamu n’akatono.
20 The Lord is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!
Naye Mukama ali mu yeekaalu ye entukuvu: ensi zonna zisiriikirire mu maaso ge.”
