< Psalms 89 >

1 I will sing of the cheshed ·loving-kindness· of Adonai forever. With my mouth, I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
Ko e Saame akonaki ʻa Itani ʻi he faʻahinga ʻo Esela. Te u hiva ʻaki ʻae ngaahi ʻaloʻofa ʻa Sihova ʻo taʻengata: te u fakaʻilo ʻaki hoku ngutu ʻa hoʻo moʻoni ki he toʻutangata kotoa pē.
2 I indeed declare, “Love stands firm forever. You established the heavens. Your faithfulness is in them.”
He naʻaku pehē, “ʻE fokotuʻumaʻu pē ʻa e ʻaloʻofa ʻo taʻengata: ko hoʻo moʻoni te ke fakatuʻumaʻu ʻi he ngaahi langi.”
3 “I have made a covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· with my chosen one, I have sworn to David [Beloved], my servant,
Kuo u fai ʻae fuakava mo ʻeku fili, kuo u fuakava ki heʻeku tamaioʻeiki ko Tevita.
4 ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build up your throne to all generations.’” (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
“Te u fakatuʻumaʻu ho hako ʻo taʻengata, te u fokotuʻu ho puleʻanga ki he toʻutangata kotoa pē.” (Sila)
5 The heavens will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· of your wonders, Adonai; your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
Pea ʻe fakamālō ʻe he ngaahi langi ki hoʻo ngaahi ngāue fakaofo, ʻE Sihova: mo hoʻo moʻoni foki ʻi he fakataha ʻoe kau māʻoniʻoni.
6 For who in the skies can be compared to Adonai? Who among the sons of the heavenly beings is like Adonai,
He ko hai ʻi he langi ʻe fakatatau ia kia Sihova? Ko hai ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻoe mālohi ʻe faʻa fakatatau kia Sihova?
7 a very awesome God in the council of the holy ones, to be feared above all those who are around him?
‌ʻOku totonu ke manavahē lahi ki he ʻOtua ʻi he fakataha ʻoe kau māʻoniʻoni, pea ke fakaʻapaʻapa ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku tuʻu takatakai kiate ia.
8 Adonai, Elohim Tzva'ot [Yahweh, God Commander of heaven’s armies], who is a mighty one, like you? Yah, your faithfulness is around you.
‌ʻE Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko hai ʻoku tatau mo koe ko Sihova māfimafi? Pea ko hoʻo moʻoni ʻoku kāpui koe.
9 You rule the pride of the sea. When its waves rise up, you calm them.
‌ʻOku ke puleʻi ʻae ngaue mālohi ʻoe tahi: ʻoka hou hono ngaahi peau, ʻoku ke fakatofukī ia.
10 You have broken Rahab in pieces, like one of the slain. You have scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
Kuo ke fesiʻi ʻa Lehapi ke lailai, ʻo hangē ha taha kuo tāmateʻi; kuo fakahēʻi ho ngaahi fili ʻaki ho nima mālohi.
11 The heavens are yours. The earth also is yours; the world and its fullness. You have founded them.
‌ʻOku ʻoʻou ʻae ngaahi langi, pea ʻoku ʻoʻou foki mo e fonua: ko māmani mo hono fonu ʻo ia kuo ke fakatuʻumaʻu ia.
12 The north and the south, you have created them. Tabor and Hermon [Devoted to destruction] rejoice in your name.
Kuo ke ngaohi ʻae potu tokelau mo e potu tonga: ko Tepoa mo Heamoni ʻe fiefia ʻi ho huafa.
13 You have a mighty arm. Your hand is strong, and your right hand is exalted.
‌ʻOku ʻiate koe ʻae nima māfimafi ʻoku mālohi ho nima, pea māʻolunga ho nima toʻomataʻu.
14 Righteousness and mishpat ·justice· are the foundation of your throne. Loving kindness and truth go before your face.
Ko e angatonu mo e fakamaau ko e tuʻunga ia ʻo ho ʻafioʻanga: ʻe muʻomuʻa ʻi ho ʻao ʻae ʻaloʻofa mo e moʻoni.
15 Blessed are the people who learn to acclaim you. They walk in the light of your presence, Adonai.
‌ʻOku monūʻia ʻae kakai ʻoku nau ʻiloʻi ʻae ongoongo fakafiefia: tenau ʻaʻeva, ʻE Sihova, ʻi he maama ʻo ho fofonga.
16 In your name they rejoice all day. In your righteousness, they are exalted.
Te nau fiefia ʻi ho huafa ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē: pea ʻi hoʻo māʻoniʻoni ʻe hakeakiʻi ai ʻakinautolu.
17 For you are the glory of their strength. In your favor, our horn will be exalted.
He ko koe ko e vikivikiʻanga ʻo honau mālohi: pea ʻi hoʻo ʻofa ʻe hiki ai ki ʻolunga honau nifo.
18 For our shield belongs to Adonai; our king to the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails].
He ko homau hūfanga ʻa Sihova; pea ko e tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli ko homau tuʻi.
19 Then you spoke in vision to your saints, and said, “I have given strength to the warrior. I have exalted a young man from the people.
Pea naʻa ke toki folofola ʻi he meʻa ha mai ki hoʻo tokotaha māʻoniʻoni, ʻo pehē, “Kuo u hilifaki ʻae tokoni ki ha tokotaha ʻoku mālohi; kuo u fakahikihiki ʻae tokotaha kuo fili mei he kakai.
20 I have found David [Beloved], my servant. I have anointed him with my holy oil,
Kuo u ʻiloʻi ʻa Tevita ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki; pea kuo u tākai ʻaki ia ʻa ʻeku lolo māʻoniʻoni:
21 with whom my hand shall be established. My arm will also strengthen him.
‌ʻE tuʻumaʻu hoku nima mo ia: ko hoku nima foki ʻe fakamālohiʻi ia.
22 No enemy will tax him. No wicked man will oppress him.
‌ʻE ʻikai fai fakamālohi kiate ia ʻe he fili; pe fakamamahiʻi ia ʻe he foha ʻoe angakovi.
23 I will beat down his adversaries before him, and strike those who hate him.
Pea te u taaʻi hifo hono ngaahi fili ʻi hono ʻao, pea tautea ʻakinautolu ʻoku fehiʻa kiate ia.
24 But my faithfulness and my cheshed ·loving-kindness· will be with him. In my name, his horn will be exalted.
Ka ʻe ʻiate ia ʻa ʻeku moʻoni mo ʻeku ʻaloʻofa: pea ʻi hoku huafa ʻe hiki ki ʻolunga ai ʻa hono nifo.
25 I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers.
Te u ʻai foki hono nima ki he tahi, mo hono nima toʻomataʻu ki he ngaahi vaitafe.
26 He will call to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my yishu'ah ·salvation·!’
‌ʻE tangi ia kiate au, ‘Ko koe ko ʻeku Tamai, ko hoku ʻOtua, mo e maka ʻo hoku fakamoʻui.’
27 I will also appoint him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
Pea te u ngaohi foki ia ko hoku ʻuluaki foha, ʻe māʻolunga lahi ia ʻi he ngaahi tuʻi ʻo māmani.
28 I will keep my cheshed ·loving-kindness· for him forever more. My covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· will stand firm with him.
Te u tuku ʻeku ʻaloʻofa maʻana ʻo taʻengata, pea ʻe tuʻumaʻu ʻeku fuakava mo ia.
29 I will also make his offspring endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Te u ngaohi foki hono hako kenau tolonga ʻo taʻengata, mo hono nofoʻa ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi ʻaho ʻoe langi.
30 If his children forsake my Torah ·Teaching·, and don’t walk in my judgments;
“Kapau ʻe liʻaki ʻeku akonaki ʻe heʻene fānau, ʻo ʻikai ʻaʻeva ʻi heʻeku ngaahi fakamaau;
31 if they break my regulations, and don’t keep my mitzvot ·instructions·;
Kapau tenau maumauʻi ʻeku ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni, pea ʻikai tauhi ʻeku ngaahi fekau;
32 then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
Pea te u toki ʻaʻahi ʻenau ngaahi talangataʻa ʻaki ʻae meʻa kini, mo ʻenau hia ʻaki ʻae ngaahi tā.
33 But I will not completely take my cheshed ·loving-kindness· from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail.
Ka ʻe ʻikai te u hiki ʻaupito ʻeku manavaʻofa ʻiate ia, pe tuku taʻehoko ʻa ʻeku moʻoni.
34 I will not break my covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties·, nor alter what my lips have uttered.
‌ʻE ʻikai te u liʻaki ʻeku fuakava, pe fakakehe ʻae meʻa kuo ʻalu atu ʻi hoku loungutu.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness, I will not lie to David [Beloved].
“Kuo u fuakava tuʻo taha ʻi heʻeku māʻoniʻoni ʻe ʻikai te u loi kia Tevita.
36 His offspring will endure forever, his throne like the sun before me.
‌ʻE tolonga ʻene fānau ʻo taʻengata, mo hono nofoʻa ʻo hangē ko e laʻā ʻi hoku ʻao.
37 It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.” (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
‌ʻE fakatuʻumaʻu ia ke taʻengata ʻo hangē ko e māhina, pea hangē ko e fakamoʻoni ʻi he langi.” (Sila)
38 But you have rejected and spurned. You have been angry with your anointed.
Ka kuo liʻaki mo fākaliliʻa, mo ke houhau kiate ia naʻa ke pani.
39 You have renounced the covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· of your servant. You have defiled his crown in the dust.
Kuo ke fakataʻeʻaongaʻi ʻae fuakava ʻa hoʻo tamaioʻeiki: kuo ke fakakoviʻi hono tatā ʻi hoʻo lī ia ki he kelekele.
40 You have broken down all his hedges. You have brought his strongholds to ruin.
Kuo ke maumauʻi hifo hono ngaahi ʻā kotoa pē; kuo ke fakaʻauha hono ngaahi potu mālohi.
41 All who pass by the way rob him. He has become a reproach to his neighbors.
Ko kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻalu ʻi he hala ʻoku nau kaihaʻa ʻiate ia: ko e manukiʻanga ia ʻo hono ngaahi kaungāʻapi.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries. You have made all of his enemies rejoice.
Kuo ke hiki hake ʻae nima toʻomataʻu ʻo hono ngaahi fili; kuo ke fakafiefiaʻi ʻa hono ngaahi fili kotoa pē.
43 Yes, you turn back the edge of his sword, and haven’t supported him in battle.
Kuo ke liliu foki ʻae mata ʻo ʻene heletā, pea ʻe ʻikai te ke ngaohi ia ke tuʻu ʻi he tau.
44 You have ended his splendor, and thrown his throne down to the ground.
Kuo ke fakaʻosi hono nāunau, pea lī hono nofoʻa ki he kelekele.
45 You have shortened the days of his youth. You have covered him with shame. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
Kuo ke fakafuonounou ʻae ngaahi ʻaho ʻo ʻene talavou: kuo ke ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ia ʻae mā. (Sila)
46 How long, Adonai? Will you hide yourself forever? Will your wrath burn like fire?
‌ʻE Sihova, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa? Te ke fakafufū koe ʻo taʻengata? ʻE vela ho houhau ʻo hangē ko e afi?
47 Remember how short my time is! For what vanity have you created all the children of men!
Manatu ki hono fuonounou ʻo ʻeku moʻui: ko e hā kuo ke ngaohi ʻae kakai kotoa pē ke taʻeʻaonga?
48 What man is he who shall live and not see death, who shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol ·Place of the dead·? (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·. (Sheol h7585)
Ko hai ʻae tangata ko ia ʻoku moʻui, pea ʻe ʻikai te ne mamata ki he mate? ʻE fakamoʻui ʻe ia ʻa hono laumālie mei he nima ʻoe faʻitoka? (Sila) (Sheol h7585)
49 Lord, where are your former cheshed ·loving-kindnesses·, which you swore to David [Beloved] in your faithfulness?
‌ʻE ʻEiki, ko e fē hoʻo ngaahi ʻaloʻofa ʻi muʻa, ʻaia naʻa ke fuakava ʻaki kia Tevita ʻi hoʻo moʻoni?
50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the mighty peoples,
Manatu, ʻE ʻEiki, ki he manukiʻi ʻo hoʻo kau tamaioʻeiki; mo ʻeku fua ʻi hoku fatafata ʻae manuki ʻae kakai mālohi kotoa pē;
51 With which your enemies have mocked, Adonai, with which they have mocked the footsteps of your anointed one.
‌ʻAia kuo manuki ʻaki ʻe ho ngaahi fili, ʻE Sihova; ʻaia kuo nau manuki ʻaki ʻae ngaahi ʻaluʻanga ʻo ia kuo ke pani.
52 Blessed be Adonai forever more. Amen v'Amen ·So be it and So be it·.
Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova ʻo taʻengata. ʻEmeni, mo ʻEmeni.
