< Psalms 6 >

1 Adonai, don’t rebuke me in your anger, neither discipline me in your wrath.
O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, neither chasten me in your hot displeasure.
2 Have mercy on me, Adonai, for I am faint. Adonai, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
3 My soul is also in great anguish. But you, Adonai, how long?
My soul is also sore vexed: but you, O LORD, how long?
4 Teshuvah ·Completely return·, Adonai. Deliver my soul, and save me for your cheshed ·loving-kindness’· sake.
Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for your mercies' sake.
5 For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol ·Place of the dead·, who shall yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you? (Sheol h7585)
For in death there is no remembrance of you: in the grave who shall give you thanks? (Sheol h7585)
6 I am weary with my groaning. Every night I flood my bed. I drench my couch with my tears.
I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries.
Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxs old because of all mine enemies.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for Adonai has sh'ma ·heard obeyed· the voice of my weeping.
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
9 Adonai has sh'ma ·heard obeyed· my supplication. Adonai accepts my prayer.
The LORD has heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
10 May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.
Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
