Psalms 12

1 Help, Adonai; for the godly man ceases. For the faithful fail from among the children of men.

Salva-nos, Senhor, porque faltam os homens bons; porque são poucos os fieis entre os filhos dos homens.

2 Everyone lies to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips, and with a double heart.

Cada um fala a falsidade ao seu próximo: falam com lábios lisongeiros e coração dobrado.

3 May Adonai cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts,

O Senhor cortará todos os lábios lisongeiros e a língua que fala soberbamente.

4 who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”

Pois dizem: Com a nossa língua prevaleceremos: são nossos os beiços; quem é o Senhor sobre nós?

5 “Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Adonai; “I will set him in yesha' ·salvation· far from those who malign him.”

Pela opressão dos miseráveis, pelo gemido dos necessitados me levantarei agora, diz o Senhor; porei em salvo aquele para quem eles assopram.

6 Adonai’s words are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.

As palavras do Senhor são palavras puras, como prata refinada em fornalha de barro, purificada sete vezes.

7 You will keep them, Adonai. You will preserve them from this generation forever.

Tu os guardarás, Senhor; desta geração os livrarás para sempre.

8 The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.

Os ímpios andam cercando, enquanto os mais vis dos filhos dos homens são exaltados.
