Proverbs 4
1 Sh'ma ·Hear obey·, sons, to a father’s instruction. Pay attention and know understanding;
ऐ मेरे बेटो, बाप की तरबियत पर कान लगाओ, और समझ हासिल करने के लिए तवज्जुह करो।
2 for I give you sound learning. Don’t forsake my Torah ·Teaching·.
क्यूँकि मैं तुम को अच्छी तल्क़ीन करता तुम मेरी ता'लीम को न छोड़ना।
3 For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.
क्यूँकि मैं भी अपने बाप का बेटा था, और अपनी माँ की निगाह में नाज़ुक और अकेला लाडला।
4 He taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words. Keep my mitzvot ·instructions·, and live.
बाप ने मुझे सिखाया और मुझ से कहा, “मेरी बातें तेरे दिल में रहें, मेरे फ़रमान बजा ला और ज़िन्दा रह।
5 Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don’t forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth.
हिकमत हासिल कर, समझ हासिल कर, भूलना मत और मेरे मुँह की बातों से नाफ़रमान न होना।
6 Don’t forsake her, and she will preserve you. 'Ahav ·Affectionately love· her, and she will keep you.
हिकमत को न छोड़ना, वह तेरी हिफ़ाज़त करेगी; उससे मुहब्बत रखना, वह तेरी निगहबान होगी।
7 Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.
हिकमत अफ़ज़ल असल है, फिर हिकमत हासिल कर; बल्किअपने तमाम हासिलात से समझ हासिल कर;
8 Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor, when you embrace her.
उसकी ता'ज़ीम कर, वह तुझे सरफ़राज़ करेगी; जब तू उसे गले लगाएगा, वह तुझे 'इज़्ज़त बख़्शेगी।
9 She will give to your head a garland of chen ·grace·. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you.”
वह तेरे सिर पर ज़ीनत का सेहरा बाँधेगी; और तुझ को ख़ूबसूरती का ताज 'अता करेगी।”
10 Sh'ma ·Hear obey·, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many.
ऐ मेरे बेटे, सुन और मेरी बातों को कु़बूल कर, और तेरी ज़िन्दगी के दिन बहुत से होंगे।
11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in straight paths.
मैंने तुझे हिकमत की राह बताई है; और राह — ए — रास्त पर तेरी राहनुमाई की है।
12 When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble.
जब तू चलेगा तेरे क़दम कोताह न होंगे; और अगर तू दौड़े तो ठोकर न खाएगा।
13 Take firm hold of instruction. Don’t let her go. Keep her, for she is your life.
तरबियत को मज़बूती से पकड़े रह, उसे जाने न दे; उसकी हिफ़ाज़त कर क्यूँकि वह तेरी ज़िन्दगी है।
14 Don’t enter into the path of the wicked. Don’t walk in the way of evil men.
शरीरों के रास्ते में न जाना, और बुरे आदमियों की राह में न चलना।
15 Avoid it, and don’t pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on.
उससे बचना, उसके पास से न गुज़रना, उससे मुड़कर आगे बढ़ जाना;
16 For they don’t sleep, unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.
क्यूँकि वह जब तक बुराई न कर लें सोते नहीं; और जब तक किसी को गिरा न दें उनकी नींद जाती रहती है।
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
क्यूँकि वह शरारत की रोटी खाते, और जु़ल्म की मय पीते हैं।
18 But the path of the upright is like the dawning light, that shines more and more until the perfect day.
लेकिन सादिक़ों की राह सुबह की रोशनी की तरह है, जिसकी रोशनी दो पहर तक बढ़ती ही जाती है।
19 The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don’t know what they stumble over.
शरीरों की राह तारीकी की तरह है; वह नहीं जानते कि किन चीज़ों से उनको ठोकर लगती है।
20 My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings.
ऐ मेरे बेटे, मेरी बातों पर तवज्जुह कर, मेरे कलाम पर कान लगा।
21 Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the center of your heart.
उसको अपनी आँख से ओझल न होने दे, उसको अपने दिल में रख।
22 For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.
क्यूँकि जो इसको पा लेते हैं, यह उनकी ज़िन्दगी, और उनके सारे जिस्म की सिहत है।
23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.
अपने दिल की खू़ब हिफ़ाज़त कर; क्यूँकि ज़िन्दगी का सर चश्मा वही हैं।
24 Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.
कजगो मुँह तुझ से अलग रहे, दरोग़गो लब तुझ से दूर हों।
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you.
तेरी आँखें सामने ही नज़र करें, और तेरी पलके सीधी रहें।
26 Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established.
अपने पाँव के रास्ते को हमवार बना, और तेरी सब राहें क़ाईम रहें।
27 Don’t turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.
न दहने मुड़ न बाएँ; और पाँव को बदी से हटा ले।
