Numbers 13
1 Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:
2 “Send men on your behalf, that they may spy out the land of Canaan [Humbled], which I give to the children of Israel [God prevails]. Of every tribe of their fathers, you shall send a man, every one a prince among them.”
“Envia homens que reconheçam a terra de Canaã, a qual eu dou aos filhos de Israel; de cada tribo de seus pais enviareis um homem, cada um líder entre eles.”
3 Moses [Drawn out] sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the order of Adonai. All them were men who were heads of the children of Israel [God prevails].
E Moisés os enviou desde o deserto de Parã, conforme a palavra do SENHOR; e todos aqueles homens eram líderes dos filhos de Israel.
4 These were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben [See, a son!], Shammua the son of Zaccur.
Os nomes dos quais são estes: da tribo de Rúben, Samua, filho de Zacur.
5 Of the tribe of Simeon [Hearing], Shaphat the son of Hori.
Da tribo de Simeão, Safate, filho de Hori.
6 Of the tribe of Judah [Praised], Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
Da tribo de Judá, Calebe, filho de Jefoné.
7 Of the tribe of Issachar [Hire, Reward], Igal the son of Joseph [May he add].
Da tribo de Issacar, Jigeal, filho de José.
8 Of the tribe of Ephraim [Fruit], Hoshea [Yah save] the son of Nun.
Da tribo de Efraim, Oseias, filho de Num.
9 Of the tribe of Benjamin [Son of right hand, Son of south], Palti the son of Raphu.
Da tribo de Benjamim, Palti, filho de Rafu.
10 Of the tribe of Zebulun [Living together], Gaddiel the son of Sodi.
Da tribo de Zebulom, Gadiel, filho de Sodi.
11 Of the tribe of Joseph [May he add], of the tribe of Manasseh [Causing to forget], Gaddi the son of Susi.
Da tribo de José: pela tribo de Manassés, Gadi, filho de Susi.
12 Of the tribe of Dan [He judged], Ammiel the son of Gemalli.
Da tribo de Dã, Amiel, filho de Gemali.
13 Of the tribe of Asher [Happy], Sethur the son of Michael [Who is like God].
Da tribo de Aser, Setur, filho de Micael.
14 Of the tribe of Naphtali [My wrestling], Nahbi the son of Vophsi.
Da tribo de Naftali, Nabi, filho de Vofsi.
15 Of the tribe of Gad [Good fortune], Geuel the son of Machi.
Da tribo de Gade, Guel, filho de Maqui.
16 These are the names of the men who Moses [Drawn out] sent to spy out the land. Moses [Drawn out] called Hoshea [Yah save] the son of Nun, who Moses [Drawn out] renamed Joshua [Salvation Yah].
Estes são os nomes dos homens que Moisés enviou para reconhecer a terra; e a Oseias, filho de Num, Moisés lhe pôs o nome de Josué.
17 Moses [Drawn out] sent them to spy out the land of Canaan [Humbled], and said to them, “Go up this way by the South, and go up into the hill country.
Então Moisés os enviou para reconhecer a terra de Canaã, dizendo-lhes: “Subi por aqui, pelo sul, e subi ao monte:
18 See the land, what it is; and the people who dwell therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;
e observai a terra que tal é; e o povo que a habita, se é forte ou débil, se pouco ou numeroso;
19 and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;
qual é a terra habitada, se é boa ou má; e quais são as cidades habitadas, se de tendas ou de fortalezas;
20 and what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood therein, or not. Be courageous, and bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.
e qual é o terreno, se é fértil ou fraco, se nele há ou não árvores; esforçai-vos, e colhei do fruto daquela terra.” E o tempo era o tempo das primeiras uvas.
21 So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath.
E eles subiram, e reconheceram a terra desde o deserto de Zim até Reobe, entrando em Hamate.
22 They went up by the South, and came to Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt [Abode of slavery].)
E subiram pelo sul, e vieram até Hebrom: e ali estavam Aimã, e Sesai, e Talmai, filhos de Anaque. Hebrom foi edificada sete anos antes de Zoã, a do Egito.
23 They came to the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it on a staff between two. They also brought some of the pomegranates and figs.
E chegaram até o ribeiro de Escol, e dali cortaram um ramo com um cacho de uvas, o qual trouxeram dois em uma vara, e das romãs e dos figos.
24 That place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel [God prevails] cut down from there.
E chamou-se aquele lugar vale de Escol pelo cacho que cortaram dali os filhos de Israel.
25 They teshuvah ·completely returned· from spying out the land at the end of forty days.
E voltaram de reconhecer a terra ao fim de quarenta dias.
26 They went and came to Moses [Drawn out], to Aaron [Light-bringer], and to all the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails], to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them and to all the congregation. They showed them the fruit of the land.
E andaram e vieram a Moisés e a Arão, e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, no deserto de Parã, em Cades, e deram-lhes a resposta, e a toda a congregação, e lhes mostraram o fruto da terra.
27 They told him, and said, “We came to the land where you sent us. Surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
E lhe contaram, e disseram: Nós chegamos à terra à qual nos enviaste, a que certamente flui leite e mel; e este é o fruto dela.
28 However the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there.
Mas o povo que habita aquela terra é forte, e as cidades muito grandes e fortes; e também vimos ali os filhos de Anaque.
29 Amalek [Man who licks up] dwells in the land of the South. The Hittite [Descendant of Trembling fear], the Jebusite [Descendants of Thresher], and the Amorite [Descendants of Talkers] dwell in the hill country. The Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled] dwells by the sea, and along the side of the Jordan [Descender].”
Amaleque habita a terra do sul; e os heteus, e os jebuseus, e os amorreus, habitam no monte; e os cananeus habitam junto ao mar, e à beira do Jordão.
30 Caleb stilled the people before Moses [Drawn out], and said, “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it!”
Então Calebe fez calar o povo diante de Moisés, e disse: Subamos logo, e passemos a ela; que mais poderemos que ela.
31 But the men who went up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”
Mas os homens que subiram com ele, disseram: Não poderemos subir contra aquele povo; porque é mais forte que nós.
32 They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Israel [God prevails], saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature.
E falaram mal entre os filhos de Israel da terra que haviam reconhecido, dizendo: A terra por de onde passamos para reconhecê-la, é terra que consome a seus moradores; e todo o povo que vimos em meio dela, são homens de grande estatura.
33 There we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim. We were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”
Também vimos ali gigantes, filhos de Anaque, raça dos gigantes: e éramos nós, à nossa aparência, como gafanhotos; e assim lhes parecíamos a eles.
