Isaiah 47

1 “Come down, and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon [Confusion]. Sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Chaldeans [Descendants of Loving-kindness]. For you will no longer be called tender and delicate.

Desce, e assenta-te no pó, ó virgem filha de Babylonia; assenta-te no chão; não ha já throno, ó filha dos chaldeos, porque nunca mais serás chamada a tenra nem a delicada.

2 Take the millstones, and grind flour. Remove your veil, lift up your skirt, uncover your legs, and wade through the rivers.

Toma a mó, e moe a farinha: descobre as tuas guedelhas, descalça os pés, descobre as pernas e passa os rios.

3 Your nakedness will be uncovered. Yes, your shame will be seen. I will take vengeance, and will spare no one.”

A tua vergonha se descobrirá, e ver-se-ha o teu opprobrio: tomarei vingança, mas não irei contra ti como homem.

4 Our Redeemer, Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies] is his name, is the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails].

O nome do nosso redemptor é o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Sancto d'Israel.

5 “Sit in silence, and go into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans [Descendants of Loving-kindness]. For you shall no longer be called the mistress of kingdoms.

Assenta-te calada, e entra nas trevas, ó filha dos chaldeos, porque nunca mais serás chamada senhora de reinos.

6 I was angry with my people. I profaned my inheritance, and gave them into your hand. You showed them no racham ·merciful love·. You laid a very heavy yoke on the aged.

Muito me agastei contra o meu povo, profanei a minha herança, e os entreguei na tua mão: porém não usaste com elles de misericordia, e até sobre os velhos fizeste muito pesado o teu jugo

7 You said, ‘I will be a princess forever;’ so that you did not lay these things to your heart, nor did you remember the results.

E dizias: Eu serei senhora para sempre: até agora não tomastes estas coisas em teu coração, nem te lembraste do fim d'ellas.

8 “Now therefore sh'ma ·hear obey· this, you who are given to pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me. I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children.’

Agora pois ouve isto, tu que és dada a delicias, que habitas tão segura, que dizes no teu coração: Eu o sou, e fóra de mim não ha outra; não ficarei viuva, nem conhecerei a perda de filhos

9 But these two things shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children and widowhood. They will come on you in their full measure, in the multitude of your sorceries, and the great abundance of your enchantments.

Porém ambas estas coisas virão sobre ti n'um momento, no mesmo dia, perda de filhos e viuvez: em toda a sua perfeição virão sobre ti, por causa da multidão das tuas feitiçarias, por causa da abundancia dos teus muitos encantamentos.

10 For you have trusted in your wickedness. You have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and your knowledge has perverted you. You have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’

Porque confiaste na tua maldade e disseste: Ninguem me pode ver; a tua sabedoria e a tua sciencia, essa te fez desviar, e disseste no teu coração: Eu o sou, e fóra de mim não ha outro.

11 Therefore disaster will come on you. You won’t know when it dawns. Mischief will fall on you. You won’t be able to put it away. Desolation will come on you suddenly, which you don’t understand.

Pelo que sobre ti virá mal de que não saberás a origem, e tal destruição cairá sobre ti, que a não poderás expiar; porque virá sobre ti de repente tão tempestuosa desolação, que a não poderás conhecer.

12 “Stand now with your enchantments, and with the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth; as if you might profit; as if you might prevail.

Deixa-te estar com os teus encantamentos, e com a multidão das tuas feitiçarias, em que trabalhaste desde a tua mocidade, a ver se te podes aproveitar, ou se porventura te podes fortificar.

13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Now let the astrologers, the stargazers, and the monthly prognosticators, stand up and save you from the things that will come on you.

Cançaste-te na multidão dos teus conselhos; levantem-se pois agora os agoureiros dos céus, os que contemplavam os astros, os prognosticadores das luas novas, e salvem-te do que ha de vir sobre ti

14 Behold, they shall are like stubble. The fire will burn them. They won’t deliver themselves from the power of the flame. It won’t be a coal to warm at or a fire to sit by.

Eis que serão como a pragana, o fogo os queimará; não poderão arrancar a sua vida do poder da labareda; não serão brazas, para se aquentar a ellas, nem fogo para se assentar a elle.

15 The things that you labored in will be like this: those who have trafficked with you from your youth will each wander in his own way. There will be no one to save you.

Assim te serão aquelles com quem trabalhaste, os teus negociantes desde a tua mocidade: cada qual irá vagueando pelo seu caminho; ninguem te salvará.
