Isaiah 40
1 “Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.
Consolai, consolai o meu povo, diz o vosso Deus.
2 “Speak comfortably to Jerusalem [City of peace]; and call out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received of Adonai’s hand double for all her sins.”
Falai benignamente a Jerusalém, e bradai-lhe que já a sua malícia é acabada, que já a sua iniquidade está expiada e que já recebeu em dobro da mão do Senhor, por todos os seus pecados.
3 The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the way of Adonai in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God.
Voz do que clama no deserto: aparelhai o caminho do Senhor: endireitai no ermo vereda a nosso Deus.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain.
Todo o vale será exaltado, e todo o monte e todo o outeiro serão abatidos: e o torcido se endireitará, e o áspero se aplainará.
5 Adonai’s kavod ·weighty glory· shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Adonai has spoken it.”
E a glória do Senhor se manifestará, e toda a carne juntamente verá que a boca do Senhor o disse.
6 The voice of one saying, “Cry!” One said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its cheshed ·loving-kindness· is like the flower of the field.
Voz que diz: Clama; e disse: Que hei de clamar? Toda a carne é erva e toda a sua benignidade como as flores do campo.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades, because Adonai’s breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass.
Seca-se a erva, e caem as flores, soprando nelas o espírito do Senhor. Na verdade que erva é o povo.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever.”
Seca-se a erva, e caem as flores, porém a palavra de nosso Deus subsiste eternamente.
9 You who tell good news to Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking], go up on a high mountain. You who tell good news to Jerusalem [City of peace], lift up your voice with strength. Lift it up. Don’t be afraid. Say to the cities of Judah [Praised], “Behold, your God!”
Ah Sião, anunciadora de boas novas, sobe tu a um monte alto. Ah Jerusalém, anunciadora de boas novas, levanta a tua voz fortemente; levanta-a, não temas, e dize às cidades de Judá: Eis aqui está o vosso Deus.
10 Behold, the Lord Adonai will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.
Eis que o Senhor Jehovah virá contra o forte, e o seu braço se assenhoreará dele: eis que o seu galardão vem com ele, e o seu salário diante da sua face.
11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.
Como pastor apascentará o seu rebanho; entre os seus braços recolherá os cordeirinhos, e os levará no seu seio: as paridas guiará suavemente.
12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span [9 in; 22.86 cm], and calculated the dust of the earth in a measuring basket, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
Quem mediu com o seu punho as águas, e tomou a medida dos céus aos palmos, e recolheu na maior medida o pó da terra e pesou os montes com peso e os outeiros em balanças?
13 Who has directed Ruach Yahweh [Spirit of He sustains breathing] or has taught him as his counselor?
Quem guiou o espírito do Senhor? e que conselheiro o ensinou?
14 Who did he take counsel with, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of mishpat ·justice·, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?
Com quem tomou conselho, que lhe desse entendimento, e lhe ensinasse o caminho do juízo? lhe ensinasse sabedoria, e lhe fizesse notório o caminho da ciência?
15 Behold, the nations are like a drop in a bucket, and are regarded as a speck of dust on a balance. Behold, he lifts up the islands like a very little thing.
Eis que as nações são consideradas por ele como a gota dum balde, e como o pó miúdo das balanças: eis que lança por ai as ilhas como a pó miúdo.
16 Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its animals sufficient for a burnt offering.
Nem todo o líbano basta para o fogo, nem os seus animais bastam para holocaustos.
17 All the nations are like nothing before him. They are regarded by him as less than nothing, and vanity.
Todas as nações são como nada perante ele; e as reputa por menos que nada e como uma coisa vã
18 To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to him?
A quem pois fareis semelhante a Deus? ou que semelhança lhe apropriareis?
19 A workman has cast an image, and the goldsmith overlays it with gold, and casts silver chains for it.
O artífice funde a imagem, e o ourives a cobre de ouro, e cadeias de prata lhe funde.
20 He who is too impoverished for such an offering chooses a tree that will not rot. He seeks a skillful workman to set up an engraved image for him that will not be moved.
O empobrecido, que já não tem que oferecer, escolhe madeira que não se corrompe: artífice sábio se busca, para aparelhar uma imagem que se não possa mover.
21 Haven’t you known? Haven’t you sh'ma ·heard obeyed·, yet? Haven’t you been told from the beginning? Haven’t you understood from the foundations of the earth?
Porventura não sabeis? porventura não ouvis? ou desde o princípio se vos não notificou? ou não atentastes para os fundamentos da terra?
22 It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in;
Ele é o que está assentado sobre o globo da terra, cujos moradores são para ele como gafanhotos: ele é o que estende os céus como cortina, e os desenrola como tenda, para habitar neles:
23 who brings princes to nothing; who makes the judges of the earth like meaningless.
O que torna em nada os príncipes, e faz como em coisa vã os juízes da terra.
24 They are planted scarcely. They are sown scarcely. Their stock has scarcely taken root in the ground. He merely blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
E nem se plantam, nem se semeiam, nem se arraiga na terra o seu tronco cortado, e neles, soprando, se secaram, e um tufão como pragana os levará.
25 “To whom then will you liken me? Who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
A quem pois me fareis semelhante, que lhe seja semelhante? diz o Santo.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their army by number. He calls them all by name. By the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, Not one is lacking.
Levantai ao alto os vossos olhos, e vede quem criou estas coisas, quem produz por conta o seu exército, quem a todas chama pelos seus nomes; por causa da grandeza das suas forças, e porquanto é forte em poder, nenhuma delas vem a faltar.
27 Why do you say, Jacob [Supplanter], and speak, Israel [God prevails], “My way is hidden from Adonai, and the mishpat ·justice· due to me is passed over by my God?”
Porque pois dizes, ó Jacob, e tu falas, ó Israel: O meu caminho está encoberto ao Senhor, e o meu juízo passa de largo pelo meu Deus?
28 Haven’t you known? Haven’t you sh'ma ·heard obeyed·? The everlasting God, Adonai, The Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint. He is not weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
Porventura não sabes, porventura não ouviste que o eterno Deus, o Senhor, o criador dos fins da terra, nem se cança nem se fatiga? não há esquadrinhação do seu entendimento.
29 He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
Dá esforço ao cançado, e multiplica as forças ao que não tem nenhum vigor.
30 Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall;
Os moços se cançarão e se fatigarão, e os mancebos certamente cairão.
31 But those who wait for Adonai will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
Mas os que esperam no Senhor renovarão as forças, subirão com asas como águias: correrão, e não se cançarão; caminharão, e não se fatigarão.
