Exodus 14
1 Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
E il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
2 “Speak to the children of Israel [God prevails], that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea.
Di' a' figliuoli d'Israele, che si rivolgano, e si accampino dinanzi alla foce d'Hirot, fra Migdol e il mare, dirincontro a Baal-sefon; ponete campo presso al mare, dirimpetto a quel [luogo].
3 Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel [God prevails], ‘They are entangled in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.’
E Faraone dirà de' figliuoli d'Israele: Sono intrigati nel paese; il deserto ha lor serrato [il passo].
4 I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will follow after them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] shall know that I am Adonai.” They did so.
Ed io indurerò il cuor di Faraone, talchè egli li perseguiterà, ed io sarò glorificato in Faraone e in tutto il suo esercito; e gli Egizj conosceranno ch'io [sono] il Signore. Ed essi fecero così.
5 The king of Egypt [Abode of slavery] was told that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed towards the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel [God prevails] go from serving us?”
Or fu rapportato al re di Egitto, che il popolo se ne fuggiva; e il cuore di Faraone e de' suoi servitori si mutò inverso il popolo, e dissero: Che cosa [è] questo [che] noi abbiam fatto, di aver lasciato andar gl'Israeliti, per non servirci [più]?
6 He prepared his chariot, and took his army with him;
E [Faraone] fece mettere i cavalli al suo carro, e prese la sua gente seco.
7 and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt [Abode of slavery], and captains over all them.
E prese seicento carri scelti, e tutti i carri dell'Egitto, sopra tutti i quali [vi erano] de' capitani.
8 Adonai hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt [Abode of slavery], and he pursued the children of Israel [God prevails]; for the children of Israel [God prevails] went out with a high hand.
E il Signore indurò il cuor di Faraone, re di Egitto; ed egli perseguì i figliuoli di Israele, i quali se ne uscivano a mano alzata.
9 The Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] pursued them. All the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon.
Gli Egizj adunque li perseguirono; e tutti i cavalli, e i carri di Faraone, e i suoi cavalieri, e il suo esercito, li raggiunsero, mentre erano accampati presso al mare, in su la foce d'Hirot, dirimpetto a Baal-sefon.
10 When Pharaoh came near, the children of Israel [God prevails] lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] were marching after them; and they were very afraid. The children of Israel [God prevails] cried out to Adonai.
E [quando] Faraone fu vicino, i figliuoli d'Israele alzarono gli occhi; ed ecco, gli Egizj venivano dietro a loro; onde temettero grandemente, e gridarono al Signore.
11 They said to Moses [Drawn out], “Because there were no graves in Egypt [Abode of slavery], have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us out of Egypt [Abode of slavery]?
E dissero a Mosè: Ci hai tu menati a morire nel deserto, perchè mancassero sepolture in Egitto? che cosa è questo [che] tu ci hai fatto, di averci fatti uscir di Egitto?
12 Is not this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt [Abode of slavery], saying, ‘Leave us alone, that we may abad ·serve· the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery]?’ For it were better for us to abad ·serve· the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery], than that we should die in the wilderness.”
Non [è] egli ciò che noi ti dicevamo in Egitto, dicendo: Lasciaci stare, che serviamo agli Egizj? perciocchè meglio [era] per noi di servire agli Egizj, che di morir nel deserto.
13 Moses [Drawn out] said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the yishu'ah ·salvation· of Adonai, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again.
E Mosè disse al popolo: Non temete; fermatevi, e state a vedere la liberazione del Signore, la quale oggi egli vi farà; perciocchè voi non vedrete mai più in eterno quegli Egizj che avete oggi veduti.
14 Adonai will fight for you, and you shall be still.”
Il Signore combatterà per voi, e voi ve ne starete queti.
15 Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel [God prevails], that they go forward.
E il Signore disse a Mosè: Perchè gridi a me? di' a' figliuoli d'Israele che camminino.
16 Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel [God prevails] shall go into the middle of the sea on dry ground.
E tu, alza la tua bacchetta, e stendi la tua mano sopra il mare, e fendilo; ed entrino i figliuoli di Israele dentro al mare per l'asciutto.
17 Behold, I myself will harden the hearts of the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery], and they shall go in after them: and I will get myself honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.
E quant'è a me, ecco, io induro il cuor degli Egizj, ed essi entreranno dietro a loro; ed io sarò glorificato in Faraone, e in tutto il suo esercito, e ne' suoi carri, e nella sua cavalleria.
18 The Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] shall know that I am Adonai, when I have gotten myself honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.”
E gli Egizj sapranno che io [sono] il Signore, quando io mi sarò glorificato in Faraone, e ne' suoi carri, e nella sua cavalleria.
19 Ha mal'ak Elohim [The Angel of God], who went before the camp of Israel [God prevails], moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them.
Allora l'Angelo di Dio che andava davanti al campo degl'Israeliti, si partì, e andò dietro a loro; parimente la colonna della nuvola si partì d'innanzi a loro, e si fermò dietro a loro.
20 It came between the camp of Egypt [Abode of slavery] and the camp of Israel [God prevails]; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and one didn’t come near the other all night.
E venne fra il campo degli Egizj e il campo degl'Israeliti; e [agli uni] era nuvola e oscurità; e [agli altri] illuminava la notte; e l'un [campo] non si appressò all'altro in tutta quella notte.
21 Moses [Drawn out] stretched out his hand over the sea, and Adonai caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
E Mosè stese la sua mano sopra il mare; e il Signore fece con un potente vento orientale ritrarre il mare tutta quella notte; e ridusse il mare in asciutto, e l'acque furono spartite.
22 The children of Israel [God prevails] went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.
E i figliuoli d'Israele entrarono in mezzo al mare per l'asciutto; e l'acque [erano] loro [a guisa di] muro, a destra e a sinistra.
23 The Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] pursued, and went in after them into the middle of the sea: all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
E gli Egizj [li] perseguirono; e tutti i cavalli di Faraone, e i suoi carri, e i suoi cavalieri, entrarono dietro a loro in mezzo al mare.
24 In the morning watch, Adonai looked out on the Egyptian [person from Abode of slavery] army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian [person from Abode of slavery] army.
E avvenne, alla vigilia della mattina, che il Signore, dalla colonna del fuoco e della nuvola, riguardò verso il campo degli Egizj, e lo mise in rotta.
25 He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] said, “Let’s flee from the face of Israel [God prevails], for Adonai fights for them against the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery]!”
E, levate le ruote de' lor carri, li conduceva pesantemente. E gli Egizj dissero: Fuggiamo d'innanzi agl'Israeliti; perciocchè il Signore combatte per loro contr'agli Egizj.
26 Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery], on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”
Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: Stendi la tua mano in sul mare, e l'acque ritorneranno sopra gli Egizj, e sopra i lor carri, e sopra i lor cavalieri.
27 Moses [Drawn out] stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea teshuvah ·completely returned· to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] fled against it. Adonai overthrew the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] in the middle of the sea.
Mosè adunque stese la sua mano in sul mare; e, in sul far della mattina, il mare ritornò al suo corso violento; e gli Egizj gli fuggivano incontro; ma il Signore li traboccò in mezzo al mare.
28 The waters teshuvah ·completely returned·, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.
E l'acque ritornarono, e coprirono i carri e i cavalieri di tutto l'esercito di Faraone, i quali erano entrati dentro al mare dietro agl'Israeliti; e' non iscampò di loro neppur uno.
29 But the children of Israel [God prevails] walked on dry land in the middle of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.
Ma i figliuoli d'Israele camminarono per l'asciutto in mezzo al mare, e l'acque [erano] loro [a guisa di] muro a destra e a sinistra.
30 Thus Adonai saved Israel [God prevails] that day out of the hand of the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery]; and Israel [God prevails] saw the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] dead on the seashore.
Così in quel giorno il Signore salvò gl'Israeliti dalle mani degli Egizj; e gli Israeliti videro gli Egizj morti in sul lito del mare.
31 Israel [God prevails] saw the great work which Adonai did to the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery], and the people feared Adonai; and they believed in Adonai, and in his servant Moses [Drawn out].
E Israele vide la gran mano che il Signore avea adoperata contro agli Egizj, e temette il Signore, e credette al Signore e a Mosè suo servitore.
