Jeremiah 49
1 Concerning the children of Ammon. Thus saith Jehovah: Hath Israel no sons? Hath he not an heir? Why then doth Milcom inherit Gad, And his people dwell in his cities?
Contra os filhos de Ammon. Assim diz o Senhor: Acaso não tem filhos Israel, nem tem herdeiro? porque pois herdou Malcam a Gad e o seu povo habitou nas suas cidades?
2 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, That I will cause a cry of war to be heard against Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, And she shall become a ruinous heap, And her daughters shall be burned with fire; And Israel shall take possession of their land, who took possession of his.
Portanto, eis que veem dias, diz o Senhor, em que farei ouvir em Rabba dos filhos de Ammon o alarido de guerra, e tornar-se-á num montão de assolação, e os lugares da sua jurisdição serão queimados a fogo; e Israel herdará aos que o herdaram, diz o Senhor
3 Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste! Cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, Gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament, And run ye to and fro within the fences! For Milcom goeth into captivity, His priests and his princes together.
Uiva, ó Hesbon, porque já é destruída Ai; clamai, ó filhas de Rabba, cingi-vos de sacos, lamentai, e rodeai pelos valados; porque Malcam irá em cativeiro, os seus sacerdotes e os seus príncipes juntamente.
4 Wherefore dost thou glory in the valleys? Thy valley shall flow [[with blood]], O perverse daughter, That gloriest in thy treasures, [[Saying, ]] “Who shall come against me?”
Porque te glórias dos vales, já se escorreu o teu vale, ó filha rebelde que confias nos teus tesouros, dizendo: Quem virá contra mim?
5 Behold, I will bring a terror upon thee, saith Jehovah of hosts, From all those that are around thee, And ye shall be driven out, every one right forth, And there shall be none to gather up the fugitives.
Eis que eu trarei temor sobre ti, diz o Senhor Jehovah dos exércitos, de todos os que estão ao redor de ti; e sereis lançados fora cada um diante de si, e ninguém recolherá o desgarrado.
6 But after this will I bring back the captivity of the sons of Ammon, saith Jehovah.
Mas depois disto farei voltar os cativos dos filhos de Ammon, diz o Senhor.
7 Concerning the Edomites. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? Is counsel passed away from the prudent? Is their wisdom vanished?
Contra Edom. Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Acaso já não há mais sabedoria em Teman? já pereceu o conselho dos entendidos? corrompeu-se a sua sabedoria?
8 Flee ye, turn ye back, Dwell in deep places, O ye inhabitants of Dedan! For the destruction of Esau do I bring, The time of his punishment upon him.
Fugi, virai-vos, buscai profundezas para habitar, ó moradores de Dedan, porque eu trouxe sobre ele a ruína de Esaú, no tempo em que o visitei.
9 If grape-gatherers had come upon thee, Would they not have left some gleanings? If thieves by night, They would have destroyed only till they had enough.
Se vindimadores viessem a ti, não deixariam rabiscos? se ladrões de noite viessem, não te danificariam quanto lhes é suficiente?
10 But I will make Esau bare; I will uncover his hiding-places, So that he shall not be able to hide himself. His offspring shall be destroyed, and his brethren, and his neighbors, And he shall be no more.
Mas eu despi a Esaú, descobri os seus esconderijos, e não se poderá esconder: é destruída a sua semente, como também seus irmãos e seus vizinhos, e já ele não é
11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive, And thy widows, let them trust in me!
Deixa os teus órfãos: eu os guardarei em vida; e as tuas viúvas confiar-se-ão em mim.
12 For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, they who ought not to have drunk the cup have deeply drunken, And shalt thou go altogether unpunished? Thou shalt not go unpunished; Thou shalt surely drink.
Porque assim diz o Senhor: Eis que os que não estavam condenados a beberem o copo totalmente o beberão; e tu mesmo totalmente serias absolto? não serás absolto, mas totalmente o beberás.
13 For by myself have I sworn, saith Jehovah, That Bozrah shall become an astonishment, A reproach, a desolation, and a curse; And all her cities shall be perpetual wastes.
Porque por mim mesmo jurei, diz o Senhor, que Bozra servirá de espanto, de opróbrio, de assolação, e de execração; e todas as suas cidades se tornarão em assolações perpétuas.
14 I have heard a proclamation from Jehovah, And an ambassador hath been sent among the nations, [[Saying, ]] “Assemble yourselves, and come against her, And arise to battle!”
Ouvi um rumor vindo do Senhor, que um embaixador é enviado às nações, para lhes dizer: ajuntai-vos, e vinde contra ela, e levantai-vos para a guerra.
15 For, behold, I will make thee small among the nations, Despised among men.
Porque eis que te fiz pequeno entre as nações, desprezado entre os homens.
16 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, The pride of thy heart, Because thou dwellest in the recesses of the rock, And holdest the height of the hill. Though thou set thy nest on high, like the eagle, From thence will I bring thee down, saith Jehovah.
A tua terribilidade te enganou, e a arrogância do teu coração, tu que habitas nas cavernas das rochas, que ocupas as alturas dos outeiros; ainda que alces o teu ninho como a águia, de lá te derribarei, diz o Senhor.
17 And Edom shall be an astonishment: Every one that passeth by her shall be astonished, And shall hiss on account of all her plagues.
Assim servirá Edom de espanto: todo aquele que passar por ela se espantará, e assobiará por causa de todas as suas pragas.
18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, And their neighboring cities, saith Jehovah, There shall not a man abide there, Nor a son of man dwell within her.
Será como a destruição de Sodoma e Gomorra, e dos seus vizinhos, diz o Senhor: não habitará ninguém ali, nem morará nela filho de homem
19 Behold, he [[the enemy]] cometh up like a lion from the pride of Jordan against the habitation of the rock; Suddenly will I drive him [[Edom]] thence, And him who is chosen by me will I set over her. For who is like me, Or who will summon me to trial? Or who is the shepherd that will stand up against me?
Eis que ele como leão subirá da enchente do Jordão contra a morada do forte; porque num momento o farei correr dali; e quem é o escolhido que porei sobre ela? porque quem é semelhante a mim? e quem me emprazaria? e quem é o pastor que subsistiria perante mim?
20 Therefore, hear ye the purpose of Jehovah, Which he hath formed against Edom, And the designs which he meditateth against the inhabitants of Teman! Surely he [[the enemy]] shall drag them forth like feeble sheep; Surely he shall come upon them, And make their pastures desolate.
Portanto ouvi o conselho do Senhor, que decretou contra Edom, e os seus desígnios que intentou entre os moradores de Teman: certamente os mais pequenos do rebanho os arrastarão: certamente assolará as suas moradas sobre eles.
21 At the noise of their fall the earth trembleth, Even to the Red Sea is their cry heard.
A terra estremeceu do estrondo da sua queda: tocante ao grito, até ao Mar Vermelho se ouviu o sonido.
22 Behold, like an eagle, he [[the enemy]] cometh up, And spreadeth his wings over Bozrah; And the hearts of the heroes of Edom, in that day, Shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Eis que ele como águia subirá, e voará, e estenderá as suas asas sobre Bozra: e será o coração dos valentes de Edom naquele dia como o coração da mulher que está com dores de parto.
23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath and Arpad are confounded; They faint, because they have heard evil tidings. There is anxiety at the sea; It cannot be at rest.
Contra Damasco. Envergonhou-se Hamath e Arpad, porquanto ouviram más novas, se desmaiaram: no mar há angústia, não se pode sossegar.
24 Damascus is faint-hearted; She turneth herself to flee; Trembling hath seized on her; Anguish and pangs have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.
Enfraquecida está Damasco; virou as costas para fugir, e tremor a tomou: angústia e dores a tomaram como da que está de parto.
25 “Why is not the praised city left, The city of my joy?”
Como não é deixada a afamada cidade? a cidade de meu folguedo?
26 Yea, her young men shall fall in her streets, And all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, Saith Jehovah of hosts.
Portanto cairão os seus mancebos nas suas ruas; e todos os homens de guerra serão consumidos naquele dia, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
27 Yea, I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, Which shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
E acenderei fogo ao muro de Damasco, e consumirá os palácios de Benhadad.
28 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, smote. Thus saith Jehovah: Arise ye, go up against Kedar, And spoil the sons of the East!
Contra Kedar, e contra os reinos de Hazor, que Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, feriu. Assim diz o Senhor: levantai-vos, subi contra Kedar, e destruí os filhos do oriente.
29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away; They shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their furniture, and their camels, And men shall cry to them, “Terror is on every side.”
Tomarão as suas tendas, e os seus gados, as suas cortinas e todos os seus vasos, e os seus camelos levarão para si; e lhes clamarão: há medo de todos os lados.
30 Flee, get you far off, dwell in deep places, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith Jehovah. For Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, meditates a design against you, And has formed a purpose against you.
Fugi, desviai-vos para mui longe, buscai profundezas para habitar, ó moradores de Azor, diz o Senhor: porque Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, tomou conselho contra vós, e intentou um desígnio contra vós.
31 Arise ye, go up against a nation at ease, That dwelleth securely, saith Jehovah; Which hath neither gates nor bars; Which dwelleth alone.
Levantai-vos, subi contra uma nação em repouso, que habita confiadamente, diz o Senhor, que não tem portas, nem ferrolho; habitam sós.
32 And their camels shall be a booty, And the multitude of their cattle a spoil; And I will scatter to all the winds them that shave the cheeks, And from every side will I bring their calamity, saith Jehovah.
E os seus camelos serão para preza, e a multidão dos seus gados para despojo: e os espalharei a todo o vento, àqueles que moram nos últimos cantos da terra, e de todos os seus lados lhes trarei a sua ruína, diz o Senhor.
33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for jackals, A desolation forever. There shall not a man abide there, Nor any son of man dwell therein.
E Hazor se tornará em morada de dragões, em assolação para sempre: ninguém habitará ali, nem morará nela filho de homem
34 The word of Jehovah which came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah, saying: —
A palavra do Senhor, que veio a Jeremias, o profeta, contra Elam, no princípio do reinado de Zedekias, rei de Judá, dizendo:
35 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I break the bow of Elam, The chief part of their strength.
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Eis que eu quebrarei o arco de Elam, o principal do seu poder.
36 And I will bring against Elam The four winds from the four extremities of the heavens, And I will scatter them to all these winds, And there shall be no nation To which the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
E trarei sobre Elam os quatro ventos dos quatro cantos dos céus, e os espalharei por todos estes ventos; e não haverá nação aonde não venham os fugitivos de Elam.
37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, And before them that seek their life. And I will bring evil upon them, The fierceness of my anger, saith Jehovah. And I will send after them the sword, Until I have consumed them.
E atemorizarei a Elam diante de seus inimigos e diante dos que procuram a sua morte; e farei vir sobre eles o mal, o furor da minha ira, diz o Senhor; e enviarei após eles a espada; até que venha a consumi-los.
38 And I will set up my throne in Elam, And I will destroy from thence king and princes, saith Jehovah.
E porei o meu trono em Elam: e destruirei dali o rei e os príncipes, diz o Senhor.
39 But it shall come to pass in future times, That I will bring back the captivity of Elam, saith Jehovah.
Será, porém, no último dos dias que farei voltar os cativos de Elam, diz o Senhor.
