Psalms 107
1 Give thanks to YHWH, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
"Dem Herrn sagt Dank! Denn er ist gut. Auf ewig währet seine Huld."
2 Let the redeemed by YHWH say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,
So singen die vom Herrn Erlösten, die er aus Feindes Hand befreit
3 And gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
und aus den Ländern sammelt von Morgen, Abend, Mitternacht und Süden. -
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way. They found no city to live in.
Sie irren in der Steppenwüste und finden keine Bahn zur Wohnstatt hin.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
Sie leiden Durst und Hunger, und ihre Seele sinkt darob in Ohnmacht.
6 Then they cried to YHWH in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses,
Sie schreien zu dem Herrn in ihrer Not; Er rettet sie aus ihren Ängsten
7 he led them also by a straight way, that they might go to a city to live in.
und leitet sie auf rechtem Wege, die Wohnstatt zu erreichen.
8 Let them praise YHWH for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the descendants of Adam.
Sie sollen dankbar sein dem Herrn für seine Gnade, für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern,
9 For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good.
daß er ihr Lechzen stillt und ihren Hunger mit dem Nötigen befriedigt! -
10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,
In Finsternis und Todesschatten sitzen sie, gebannt in Elend und in Eisen;
11 because they rebelled against the words of God, and condemned the counsel of the Most High.
denn Gottes Worten widerspenstig, verschmähen sie des Höchsten Rat.
12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labor. They fell down, and there was none to help.
Durch Mühsal beugt er ihren Sinn; sie werden machtlos; niemand hilft.
13 Then they cried to YHWH in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
Sie schrein zum Herrn in ihrer Not; er rettet sie aus ihren Ängsten.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds in sunder.
Aus Finsternis und Todesschatten führt er sie, und ihre Fesseln sprengt er auf.
15 Let them praise YHWH for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the descendants of Adam.
Sie sollen dankbar sein dem Herrn für seine Gnade, für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern,
16 For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron.
daß er zertrümmert eherne Pforten und Eisenriegel bricht! -
17 Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience, and because of their iniquities.
Die Kranken leiden schwer ob ihres Sündenwandels und wegen ihrer Missetaten,
18 Their soul abhors all kinds of food. They draw near to the gates of death.
daß sie vor jeder Speise ekelt und sie des Todes Pforten schon berühren.
19 Then they cried to YHWH in their trouble; he saved them out of their distresses.
Sie schreien zu dem Herrn in ihrer Not; er rettet sie aus ihren Ängsten.
20 He sent his word and healed them; he delivered them from their traps.
Er schickt sein Wort, macht sie gesund und rettet sie vor ihren Grüften.
21 Let them praise YHWH for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the descendants of Adam.
Sie sollen dankbar sein dem Herrn für seine Gnade, für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern,
22 Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with singing.
ihm Dankesopfer bringen, jubelnd seine Taten künden! -
23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in great waters;
Die auf der See in Schiffen fahren und ihr Geschäft auf großen Wassern treiben,
24 These see YHWH's works, and his wonders in the deep.
erblicken hier des Herren Werke und seine Wunder mit der tiefen Flut.
25 For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.
Ein Sturm erhebt sich auf sein Wort, und seine Wellen türmen sich.
26 They mount up to the sky; they go down again to the depths. Their soul melts away because of trouble.
Sie steigen bis zum Himmel, fahren in die Tiefen. Ihr Leben ist gefährdet.
27 They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.
Sie tanzen, schwanken wie Betrunkene. Dahin ist ihre ganze Kunst.
28 Then they cry to YHWH in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress.
Sie schrein zum Herrn in ihrer Not; er rettet sie aus ihren Ängsten.
29 He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.
Er macht den Sturm zum Säuselwind; da legen sich des Meeres Wellen.
30 Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven.
Sie jubeln, daß sie stille liegen und er sie an ihr Endziel führt.
31 Let them praise YHWH for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the descendants of Adam.
Sie sollen dankbar sein dem Herrn für seine Gnade, für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern
32 Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders.
und ihn vor allem Volk erheben und ihn im Kreis der Alten loben! -
33 He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground,
Er macht zur Wüste Ströme, zu dürrem Lande Quellenorte,
34 and a fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
ein fruchtbar Land zum salzigen Grund, der Bosheit der Bewohner wegen.
35 He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs.
Er macht zum Wasserteich die Wüste und dürres Land zum Quellenort;
36 There he makes the hungry live, that they may prepare a city to live in,
die Hungrigen läßt er hier wohnen; Sie bauen eine Wohnstatt dort,
37 sow fields, plant vineyards, and reap the fruits of increase.
besäen Felder, pflanzen Weinberge, die lohnend Früchte tragen.
38 He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly. He doesn't allow their livestock to decrease.
Er segnet sie, daß sie sich riesig mehren, und läßt ihr Vieh sich nicht vermindern.
39 Again, they are diminished and bowed down through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.
Vermindern sie sich, werden sie gebeugt von Druck und Elend und von Jammer,
40 He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.
dann gießt auf Fürsten er Verachtung aus und führt sie in die unwegsame Öde.
41 Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock.
Doch aus dem Elend hebt er Arme auf und macht Geschlechter Herden gleich.
42 The upright will see it, and be glad. All the wicked will shut their mouths.
Das sehen Redliche und freuen sich, und jeder Frevelmund verstummt. -
43 Whoever is wise will pay attention to these things. They will consider the loving kindnesses of YHWH.
Wer weise ist, beachtet dies, und Anerkennung finden so des Herren Gnadentaten.
