< Jeremiah 45 >

1 The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
Verbum quod locutus est Jeremias propheta ad Baruch filium Neriæ, cum scripsisset verba hæc in libro ex ore Jeremiæ, anno quarto Joakim filii Josiæ regis Juda, dicens:
2 "Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch:
Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël ad te, Baruch:
3 'You said, "Woe is me now. For YHWH has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest."'"
Dixisti: Væ misero mihi! quoniam addidit Dominus dolorem dolori meo: laboravi in gemitu meo, et requiem non inveni.
4 "You shall tell him, 'Thus says YHWH: "Look, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.
Hæc dicit Dominus: Sic dices ad eum: Ecce quos ædificavi, ego destruo, et quos plantavi, ego evello, et universam terram hanc:
5 Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for, look, I will bring disaster on all flesh, says YHWH; but your life will I give to you for a reward in all places where you go."'"
et tu quæris tibi grandia? noli quærere, quia ecce ego adducam malum super omnem carnem, ait Dominus, et dabo tibi animam tuam in salutem in omnibus locis ad quæcumque perrexeris.
