Proverbs 5
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom. Turn your ear to my understanding:
Hijo mío, está atento a mi sabiduría, y a mi inteligencia inclina tu oído;
2 that you may maintain discretion, that your lips may preserve knowledge.
para que guardes consejo, y tus labios conserven la ciencia.
3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil,
Porque los labios de la mujer extraña destilan miel, y su paladar es más blando que el aceite;
4 But in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, and as sharp as a two-edged sword.
mas su fin es amargo como el ajenjo, agudo como cuchillo de dos filos.
Sus pies descienden a la muerte; sus pasos sustentan el sepulcro; (Sheol h7585)
6 She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn't know it.
si no pesares el camino de vida, sus caminos son inestables; no los conocerás.
7 Now therefore, son, listen to me. Do not depart from the words of my mouth.
Ahora pues, hijos, oídme, y no os apartéis de las razones de mi boca.
8 Remove your way far from her. Do not come near the door of her house,
Aleja de ella tu camino, y no te acerques a la puerta de su casa;
9 lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the merciless;
para que no des a los extraños tu honor, y tus años al cruel;
10 lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man's house.
para que no se harten los extraños de tu fuerza, y tus trabajos estén en casa del extraño;
11 You will groan at your latter end, when your flesh and your body are consumed,
y gimas en tus postrimerías, cuando se consumiere tu carne y tu cuerpo,
12 and say, "How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
y digas: ¡Cómo aborrecí el castigo, y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión;
13 neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor turned my ear to those who instructed me.
y no oí la voz de los que me castigaban; y a los que me enseñaban no incliné mi oído!
14 I have come to the brink of utter ruin, in the midst of the gathered assembly."
Casi en todo mal he estado, en medio de la sociedad y de la congregación.
15 Drink water out of your own cistern, running water out of your own well.
Bebe el agua de tu propia cisterna, y las corrientes de tu propio pozo.
16 Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares?
Rebosan por de fuera tus fuentes, en las plazas los ríos de tus aguas.
17 Let them be for yourself alone, not for strangers with you.
Sean para ti solo, y no para los extraños contigo.
18 Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.
Será bendito tu manantial; y alégrate de la mujer de tu juventud.
19 A loving doe and a graceful deer—let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love.
Como cierva de amores y graciosa gacela, sus pechos te satisfagan en todo tiempo; y en su amor andarás ciego de continuo, sin fijar tus ojos en nadie más.
20 For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?
¿Y por qué, hijo mío, andarás ciego con la ajena, y abrazarás el seno de la extraña?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD. He examines all his paths.
Pues que los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos del SEÑOR, ¡y él pesa todas sus veredas!
22 The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.
Sus propias iniquidades prenderán al impío, y con las cuerdas de su pecado será detenido.
23 He will die for lack of instruction. In the greatness of his folly, he will go astray.
El morirá por no haberse sometido al castigo; y por la grandeza de su locura, errará.
