Luke 1
1 Since many have undertaken to set in order a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,
ശ്രീമാനായ തെയോഫിലോസേ, ആദിമുതൽ കണ്ട സാക്ഷികളും വചനത്തിന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരുമായവർ നമ്മെ ഭരമേല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ,
2 even as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word delivered them to us,
നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ പൂൎണ്ണമായി പ്രമാണിച്ചു വരുന്ന കാൎയ്യങ്ങളെ വിവരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചരിത്രം ചമെപ്പാൻ പലരും തുനിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു,
3 it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write to you in order, most excellent Theophilus;
നിനക്കു ഉപദേശം ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വാൎത്തയുടെ നിശ്ചയം നീ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു
4 that you might know the certainty concerning the things in which you were instructed.
അതു ക്രമമായി എഴുതുന്നതു നന്നെന്നു ആദിമുതൽ സകലവും സൂക്ഷ്മമായി പരിശോധിച്ചിട്ടു എനിക്കും തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
യെഹൂദ്യരാജാവായ ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു അബീയാക്കൂറിൽ സെഖൎയ്യാവു എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരോഹിതൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ അഹരോന്റെ പുത്രിമാരിൽ ഒരുത്തി ആയിരുന്നു; അവൾക്കു എലീശബെത്ത് എന്നു പേർ.
6 They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.
ഇരുവരും ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നീതിയുള്ളവരും കൎത്താവിന്റെ സകല കല്പനകളിലും ന്യായങ്ങളിലും കുററമില്ലാത്തവരായി നടക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.
എലീശബെത്ത് മച്ചിയാകകൊണ്ടു അവൎക്കു സന്തതി ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞു; ഇരുവരും വയസ്സു ചെന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
8 Now it happened, while he was performing the priest's office before God in the order of his division,
അവൻ കൂറിന്റെ ക്രമപ്രകാരം ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ പുരോഹിതനായി ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവരുമ്പോൾ:
9 according to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
പൌരോഹിത്യമൎയ്യാദപ്രകാരം കൎത്താവിന്റെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ അവന്നു നറുക്കു വന്നു.
10 And the whole crowd of people were praying outside at the hour of incense.
ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന നാഴികയിൽ ജനസമൂഹം ഒക്കെയും പുറത്തു പ്രാൎത്ഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
11 An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
അപ്പോൾ കൎത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതൻ ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു നില്ക്കുന്നവനായിട്ടു അവന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.
12 Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.
സെഖൎയ്യാവു അവനെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു ഭയപരവശനായി.
13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you are to name him John.
ദൂതൻ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സെഖൎയ്യാവേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിന്റെ പ്രാൎത്ഥനെക്കു ഉത്തരമായി: നിന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ എലീശബെത്ത് നിനക്കു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേർ ഇടേണം.
14 You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth.
നിനക്കു സന്തോഷവും ഉല്ലാസവും ഉണ്ടാകും; അവന്റെ ജനനത്തിങ്കൽ പലരും സന്തോഷിക്കും.
15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he must never drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.
അവൻ കൎത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വലിയവൻ ആകും; വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കയില്ല; അമ്മയുടെ ഗൎഭത്തിൽവെച്ചു തന്നേ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നിറയും.
16 He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God.
അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽ പലരെയും അവരുടെ ദൈവമായ കൎത്താവിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചുവരുത്തും.
17 He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
അവൻ അപ്പന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ മക്കളിലേക്കും വഴങ്ങാത്തവരെ നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ബോധത്തിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുക്കമുള്ളോരു ജനത്തെ കൎത്താവിന്നുവേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കുവാൻ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവോടും ശക്തിയോടും കൂടെ നടക്കും.
18 Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years."
സെഖൎയ്യാവു ദൂതനോടു; ഇതു ഞാൻ എന്തൊന്നിനാൽ അറിയും? ഞാൻ വൃദ്ധനും എന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ വയസ്സുചെന്നവളുമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 The angel answered him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news.
ദൂതൻ അവനോടു: ഞാൻ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന ഗബ്രീയേൽ ആകുന്നു; നിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാനും ഈ സദ്വൎത്തമാനം നിന്നോടു അറിയിപ്പാനും എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
20 And look, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time."
തക്കസമയത്തു നിവൃത്തിവരുവാനുള്ള എന്റെ ഈ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതു സംഭവിക്കുവരെ നീ സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാതെ മൌനമായിരിക്കും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
21 The people were waiting for Zechariah, and they were wondering why he was delayed in the temple.
ജനം സെഖൎയ്യാവിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു, അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ താമസിച്ചതിനാൽ ആശ്ചൎയ്യപെട്ടു.
22 When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.
അവൻ പുറത്തു വന്നാറെ അവരോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അതിനാൽ അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ഒരു ദൎശനം കണ്ടു എന്നു അവർ അറിഞ്ഞു; അവൻ അവൎക്കു ആഗ്യം കാട്ടി ഊമനായി പാൎത്തു.
23 It happened, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his house.
അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷാകാലം തികഞ്ഞശേഷം അവൻ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.
24 After these days Elizabeth, his wife, conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying,
ആ നാളുകൾ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ എലീശബെത്ത് ഗൎഭം ധരിച്ചു:
25 "Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my disgrace among people."
മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന നിന്ദ നീക്കുവാൻ കൎത്താവു എന്നെ കടാക്ഷിച്ച നാളിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ എനിക്കു ചെയ്തുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അഞ്ചു മാസം ഒളിച്ചു പാൎത്തു.
26 Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
ആറാം മാസത്തിൽ ദൈവം ഗബ്രീയേൽദൂതനെ നസറെത്ത് എന്ന ഗലീലപട്ടണത്തിൽ,
27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.
ദാവീദുഗൃഹത്തിലുള്ള യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു പുരുഷന്നു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന കന്യകയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു; ആ കന്യകയുടെ പേർ മറിയ എന്നു ആയിരുന്നു.
28 Having come in, the angel said to her, "Greetings, favored one. The Lord is with you."
ദൂതൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്തു ചെന്നു: കൃപലഭിച്ചവളേ, നിനക്കു വന്ദനം; കൎത്താവു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of greeting this might be.
അവൾ ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു: ഇതു എന്തൊരു വന്ദനം എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.
30 The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
ദൂതൻ അവളോടു: മറിയയേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു.
31 And look, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name 'Jesus.'
നീ ഗൎഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യേശു എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കേണം.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,
അവൻ വലിയവൻ ആകും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും; കൎത്താവായ ദൈവം അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം അവന്നു കൊടുക്കും
33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom." (aiōn g165)
അവൻ യാക്കോബുഗൃഹത്തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്നു അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. (aiōn g165)
34 Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?"
മറിയ ദൂതനോടു: ഞാൻ പുരുഷനെ അറിയായ്കയാൽ ഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
35 The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born will be called the Son of God.
അതിന്നു ദൂതൻ: പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിന്റെമേൽ വരും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ ശക്തി നിന്റെമേൽ നിഴലിടും; ആകയാൽ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന വിശുദ്ധപ്രജ ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
36 And look, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
നിന്റെ ചാൎച്ചക്കാരത്തി എലീശബെത്തും വാൎദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ ഒരു മകനെ ഗൎഭം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മച്ചി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നവൾക്കു ഇതു ആറാം മാസം.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible."
ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാൎയ്യവും അസാദ്ധ്യമല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
38 And Mary said, "See, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word." The angel departed from her.
അതിന്നു മറിയ: ഇതാ, ഞാൻ കൎത്താവിന്റെ ദാസി; നിന്റെ വാക്കുപോലെ എനിക്കു ഭവിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ദൂതൻ അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
39 Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,
ആ നാളുകളിൽ മറിയ എഴുന്നേറ്റു മല നാട്ടിൽ ഒരു യെഹൂദ്യപട്ടണത്തിൽ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു,
40 and entered into the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
സെഖൎയ്യാവിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ എത്തി എലീശബെത്തിനെ വന്ദിച്ചു.
41 It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
മറിയയുടെ വന്ദനം എലീശബെത്ത് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പിള്ള അവളുടെ ഗൎഭത്തിൽ തുള്ളി; എലീശബെത്ത് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവളായി,
42 She called out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: സ്ത്രീകളിൽ നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ; നിന്റെ ഗൎഭ ഫലവും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടതു.
43 Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
എന്റെ കൎത്താവിന്റെ മാതാവു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്ന മാനം എനിക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി.
44 For look, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.
നിന്റെ വന്ദനസ്വരം എന്റെ ചെവിയിൽ വീണപ്പോൾ പിള്ള എന്റെ ഗൎഭത്തിൽ ആനന്ദംകൊണ്ടു തുള്ളി.
45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord."
കൎത്താവു തന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതിന്നു നിവൃത്തിയുണ്ടാകും എന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചവൾ ഭാഗ്യവതി.
46 Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord.
അപ്പോൾ മറിയ പറഞ്ഞതു: “എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കൎത്താവിനെ മഹിമപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു;
47 And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
എന്റെ ആത്മാവു എന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിൽ ഉല്ലസിക്കുന്നു.
48 for he has looked at the humble state of his servant girl. For look, from now on all generations will call me blessed.
അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസിയുടെ താഴ്ച കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഇന്നുമുതൽ എല്ലാ തലമുറകളും എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും.
49 For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
ശക്തനായവൻ എനിക്കു വലിയവ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നാമം പരിശുദ്ധം തന്നേ.
50 His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him.
അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവൎക്കു അവന്റെ കരുണ തലമുറതലമുറയോളം ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
51 He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
തന്റെ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ബലം പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചു, ഹൃദയവിചാരത്തിൽ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെ ചിതറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
52 He has put down princes from their thrones. And has exalted the lowly.
പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു ഇറക്കി താണവരെ ഉയൎത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things. He has sent the rich away empty.
വിശന്നിരിക്കുന്നവരെ നന്മകളാൽ നിറെച്ചു, സമ്പന്നന്മാരെ വെറുതെ അയച്ചു കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
54 He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy,
നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നും അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും എന്നേക്കും കരുണ ഓൎക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു, (aiōn g165)
തന്റെ ദാസനായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ തുണെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
56 Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her house.
മറിയ ഏകദേശം മൂന്നു മാസം അവളോടു കൂടെ പാൎത്തിട്ടു വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
57 Now the time that Elizabeth should give birth was fulfilled, and she brought forth a son.
എലീശബെത്തിന്നു പ്രസവിപ്പാനുള്ള കാലം തികഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;
58 Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they rejoiced with her.
കൎത്താവു അവൾക്കു വലിയ കരുണ കാണിച്ചു എന്നു അയല്ക്കാരും ചാൎച്ചക്കാരും കേട്ടിട്ടു അവളോടുകൂടെ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
59 It happened on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zechariah, after the name of the father.
എട്ടാം നാളിൽ അവർ പൈതലിനെ പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്‌വാൻ വന്നു; അപ്പന്റെ പേർപോലെ അവന്നു സെഖൎയ്യാവു എന്നു പേർ വിളിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു.
60 His mother answered, "Not so; but he will be called John."
അവന്റെ അമ്മയോ: അല്ല, അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേരിടേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
61 They said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name."
അവർ അവളോടു: നിന്റെ ചാൎച്ചയിൽ ഈ പേരുള്ളവർ ആരും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
62 They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.
പിന്നെ അവന്നു എന്തു പേർ വിളിപ്പാൻ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അപ്പനോടു ആഗ്യംകാട്ടി ചോദിച്ചു.
63 And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they were all amazed.
അവൻ ഒരു എഴുത്തു പലക ചോദിച്ചു: അവന്റെ പേർ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു എഴുതി; എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചൎയ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
64 His mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue freed, and he spoke, blessing God.
ഉടനെ അവന്റെ വായും നാവും തുറന്നു, അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചു ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചു.
65 Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.
ചുറ്റും പാൎക്കുന്നവർക്കു എല്ലാം ഭയം ഉണ്ടായി; , യെഹൂദ്യമലനാട്ടിൽ എങ്ങും ഈ വാൎത്ത ഒക്കെയും പരന്നു.
66 All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, "What then will this child be?" The hand of the Lord was with him.
കേട്ടവർ എല്ലാവരും അതു ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിക്ഷേപിച്ചു: ഈ പൈതൽ എന്തു ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; കൎത്താവിന്റെ കൈ അവനോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
67 His father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ സെഖൎയ്യാവു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവനായി പ്രവചിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു:
68 "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and worked redemption for his people;
“യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കൎത്താവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ. അവൻ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദൎശിച്ചു ഉദ്ധാരണം ചെയ്കയും
69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David
ആദിമുതൽ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപ്രവാചകന്മാർ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ (aiōn g165)
നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ വശത്തു നിന്നും നമ്മെ പകെക്കുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും നമ്മെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ
71 salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us;
തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ നമുക്കു രക്ഷയുടെ കൊമ്പു ഉയൎത്തുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു,
72 to show mercy towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,
നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു കരുണ പ്രവൎത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും
73 the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father,
നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു
74 to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,
നാം ആയുഷ്ക്കാലം ഒക്കെയും ഭയം കൂടാതെ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ വിശുദ്ധിയിലും നീതിയിലും തന്നെ ആരാധിപ്പാൻ നമുക്കു കൃപ നല്കുമെന്നു
75 In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
അവൻ നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു സത്യവും തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധ നിയമവും ഓൎത്തതുകൊണ്ടും ആകുന്നു.
76 And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to make ready his ways,
നീയോ പൈതലേ, അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. കൎത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവാനും
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins,
നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആൎദ്രകരുണയാൽ അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു പാപമോചനത്തിൽ രക്ഷാപരിജ്ഞാനം കൊടുപ്പാനുമായി നീ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി നടക്കും.
78 because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,
ഇരുളിലും മരണനിഴലിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവൎക്കു പ്രകാശിച്ചു, നമ്മുടെ കാലുകളെ സമാധാനമാൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു
79 to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace."
ആ ആൎദ്രകരുണയാൽ ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്നു ഉദയം നമ്മെ സന്ദൎശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
80 The child was growing, and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the desert until the day of his public appearance to Israel.
പൈതൽ വളൎന്നു ആത്മാവിൽ ബലപ്പെട്ടു; അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ കാണിക്കും നാൾവരെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
