2 Samuel 19

1 It was told Joab, "Look, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom."

E disseram a Joab: Eis que o rei anda chorando, e lastima-se por Absalão.

2 The victory that day was turned into mourning to all the people; for the people heard it said that day, "The king grieves for his son."

Então a victoria se tornou n'aquelle mesmo dia em tristeza para todo o povo: porque aquelle mesmo dia o povo ouvira dizer: Mui triste está o rei por causa de seu filho.

3 So the people went quietly into the city that day, the way that people who are humiliated creep away when fleeing in battle.

E aquelle mesmo dia o povo se escoou ás furtadellas na cidade, como o povo de vergonhoso se escoa escondidamente quando fogem da peleja.

4 The king covered his face, and he cried with a loud voice, "My son Absalom, Absalom, my son, my son."

Estava pois o rei com o rosto coberto; e o rei gritava a alta voz: Meu filho Absalão, Absalão meu filho, meu filho!

5 Joab came into the house to the king, and said, "You have shamed this day the faces of all your servants, who this day have saved your life, and the lives of your sons and of your daughters, and the lives of your wives, and the lives of your secondary wives;

Então entrou Joab ao rei em casa, e disse: Hoje envergonhaste as caras de todos os teus servos, que livraram hoje a tua vida, e a vida de teus filhos, e de tuas filhas, e a vida de tuas mulheres, e a vida de tuas concubinas.

6 in that you love those who hate you, and hate those who love you. For you have declared this day, that leaders and servants are nothing to you. For today I perceive that if Absalom had lived, and all of us had died, then you would be pleased.

Amando tu aos que te aborrecem, e aborrecendo aos que te amam: porque hoje dás a entender que nada valem para comtigo capitães e servos; porque entendo hoje que se Absalão vivesse, e todos nós hoje fossemos mortos, então bem te parecera aos teus olhos.

7 Now therefore arise, go out, and speak to comfort your servants; for I swear by the LORD, if you do not go out, not a man will stay with you this night. That would be worse to you than all the evil that has happened to you from your youth until now."

Levanta-te pois agora; sae, e falla conforme ao coração de teus servos: porque pelo Senhor te juro que, se não saires, nem um só homem ficará comtigo esta noite; e mais mal te será isto do que todo o mal que tem vindo sobre ti desde a tua mocidade até agora.

8 Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. They told to all the people, saying, "Look, the king is sitting in the gate." All the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.

Então o rei se levantou, e se assentou á porta: e fizeram saber a todo o povo, dizendo: Eis que o rei está assentado á porta. Então todo o povo veiu apresentar-se diante do rei; porém Israel fugiu cada um para as suas tendas.

9 All the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Philistines, but now he has fled from the land and from being over his kingdom.

E todo o povo, em todas as tribus de Israel, andava porfiando entre si, dizendo: O rei nos tirou das mãos de nossos inimigos, e elle nos livrou das mãos dos philisteos; e agora fugiu da terra por causa de Absalão.

10 And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why do you not speak a word of bringing the king back?" And the talk of all Israel came to the king.

E Absalão, a quem ungimos sobre nós, já morreu na peleja: agora, pois, porque vos calaes, e não fazeis voltar o rei

11 So king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, "Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, 'Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house?

Então o rei David enviou a Zadok e a Abiathar, sacerdotes, dizendo: Fallae aos anciãos de Judah, dizendo: Porque serieis vós os ultimos em tornar a trazer o rei para a sua casa? (porque as palavras de todo o Israel chegaram ao rei, até á sua casa.)

12 You are my brothers, you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring back the king?'

Vós sois meus irmãos, meus ossos e minha carne sois vós: porque pois serieis os ultimos em tornar a trazer o rei?

13 And say to Amasa, 'Aren't you my bone and my flesh? Now then, God do so to me, and more also, if you aren't commander of the army before me continually in place of Joab. '"

E a Amasa direis: Porventura não és tu meu osso e minha carne? assim me faça Deus, e outro tanto, se não fores chefe do arraial diante de mim para sempre, em logar de Joab.

14 Thus he won over the heart of all the men of Judah, even as one man, so that they sent to the king, saying, "Return, you and all your servants."

Assim moveu o coração de todos os homens de Judah, como o d'um só homem: e enviaram ao rei, dizendo: Volta tu com todos os teus servos.

15 So the king returned and came to the Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, having come down to meet the king, to bring the king across the Jordan.

Então o rei voltou, e chegou até ao Jordão; e Judah veiu a Gilgal, para ir encontrar-se com o rei, á outra banda do Jordão.

16 And Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite who was from Bahurim, hurried and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

E apressou-se Simei, filho de Gera, filho de Jemini, que era de Bahurim: e desceu com os homens de Judah a encontrar-se com o rei David,

17 And there were a thousand men from Benjamin with him. But Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him, waded through the Jordan ahead of the king,

E com elle mil varões de Benjamin, como tambem Ziba, servo da casa de Saul, e seus quinze filhos, e seus vinte servos com elle: e promptamente passaram o Jordão adiante do rei.

18 and they crossed the ford to bring over the king's household, and to do what was good in his sight. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he had crossed over the Jordan.

E, passando a barca, para fazer passar a casa do rei e para trazer o que bem parecesse aos seus olhos, então Simei, filho de Gera, se prostrou diante do rei, passando elle o Jordão.

19 He said to the king, "Do not let my lord impute iniquity to me, nor remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

E disse ao rei: Não me impute meu senhor a minha culpa, e não te lembres do que tão perversamente fez teu servo, no dia em que o rei meu senhor saiu de Jerusalem, para o rei conserval-o no coração.

20 For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore look, I have come this day the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king."

Porque teu servo devéras confessa que eu pequei: porém eis que eu sou o primeiro que de toda a casa de José desci a encontrar-me com o rei meu senhor.

21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered, "Shall Shimei not be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed?"

Então respondeu Abisai, filho de Zeruia, e disse: Não morreria pois Simei por isto, havendo amaldiçoado ao ungido do Senhor?

22 David said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be adversaries to me? Shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? For do you not realize that I am this day king over Israel?"

Porém David disse: Que tenho eu comvosco, filhos de Zeruia, para que hoje me sejaes adversarios? morreria alguem hoje em Israel? porque porventura não sei que hoje fui feito rei sobre Israel?

23 The king said to Shimei, "You shall not die." The king swore to him.

E disse o rei a Simei: Não morrerás. E o rei lh'o jurou.

24 Now Mippibaal son of Jonathan son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither cared for his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home safely.

Tambem Mephiboseth, filho de Saul, desceu a encontrar-se com o rei, e não tinha lavado os pés, nem tinha feito a barba, nem tinha lavado os seus vestidos desde o dia em que o rei tinha saido até ao dia em que voltou em paz.

25 It happened, when he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, "Why did you not go with me, Mippibaal?"

E succedeu que, vindo elle a Jerusalem a encontrar-se com o rei, disse-lhe o rei: Porque não foste comigo, Mephiboseth?

26 He answered, "My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said to him, 'Saddle a donkey for me so that I may ride on it and go with the king,' for your servant is lame.

E disse elle: Ó rei meu senhor, o meu servo me enganou; porque o teu servo dizia: Albardarei um jumento, e n'elle montarei, e irei com o rei; pois o teu servo é côxo.

27 He has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Do therefore what is good in your eyes.

De mais d'isto, falsamente accusou a teu servo diante do rei meu senhor; porém o rei meu senhor é como um anjo de Deus; faze pois o que parecer bem aos teus olhos.

28 For all my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should cry any more to the king?"

Porque toda a casa de meu pae não era senão de homens dignos de morte diante do rei meu senhor; e comtudo puzeste a teu servo entre os que comem á tua mesa: e que mais direito tenho eu de clamar ao rei?

29 The king said to him, "Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land."

E disse-lhe o rei: Porque ainda mais fallas de teus negocios? já disse eu: Tu e Ziba reparti as terras.

30 Mippibaal said to the king, "Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house."

E disse Mephiboseth ao rei; Tome elle tambem tudo: pois já veiu o rei meu senhor em paz á sua casa.

31 Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim; and he went over the Jordan with the king, to conduct him from the Jordan.

Tambem Barzillai, o gileadita, desceu de Rogelim, e passou com o rei o Jordão, para o acompanhar á outra banda do Jordão.

32 Now Barzillai was a very old man, eighty years old; and he had provided for the king while he was staying at Mahanaim, for he was a very rich man.

E era Barzillai mui velho, da edade de oitenta annos; e elle tinha sustentado o rei, quando tinha a sua morada em Mahanaim, porque era homem mui grande.

33 The king said to Barzillai, "Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem."

E disse o rei a Barzillai: Passa tu comigo, e sustentar-te-hei comigo em Jerusalem.

34 Barzillai said to the king, "How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

Porém Barzillai disse ao rei: Quantos serão os dias dos annos da minha vida, para que suba com o rei a Jerusalem?

35 I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king?

Da edade de oitenta annos sou eu hoje; poderia eu discernir entre bom e mau? poderia o teu servo ter gosto no que comer e beber? Poderia eu mais ouvir a voz dos cantores e cantoras? E porque será o teu servo ainda pesado ao rei meu senhor?

36 Your servant would but just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?

Com o rei passará teu servo ainda um pouco mais além do Jordão: e porque me recompensará o rei com tal recompensa?

37 Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But look, your servant Kimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you."

Deixa voltar o teu servo, e morrerei na minha cidade, junto á sepultura de meu pae e de minha mãe: mas eis ahi está o teu servo Chimham, o qual passe com o rei meu senhor, e faze-lhe o que bem parecer aos teus olhos.

38 The king answered, "Kimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you require of me, that I will do for you."

Então disse o rei: Chimham passará comigo, e eu lhe farei como bem parecer aos teus olhos, e tudo quanto me pedires te farei.

39 All the people crossed over the Jordan, but the king remained. Then the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his own place.

Havendo pois todo o povo passado o Jordão, e passando tambem o rei, beijou o rei a Barzillai, e o abençoou: e elle voltou para o seu logar.

40 So the king went over to Gilgal, and Kimham went over with him. All the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.

E d'ali passou o rei a Gilgal, e Chimham passou com elle: e todo o povo de Judah conduziu o rei, como tambem a metade do povo d'Israel.

41 Look, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, "Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king, and his household, over the Jordan, and all David's men with him?"

E eis que todos os homens d'Israel vieram ao rei, e disseram ao rei: Porque te furtaram nossos irmãos, os homens de Judah, e conduziram o rei e a sua casa d'além do Jordão, e todos os homens de David com elles?

42 All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, "Because the king is a close relative to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king's cost? Or has he given us any gifts?"

Então responderam todos os homens de Judah aos homens de Israel: Porquanto o rei é nosso parente; e porque vos iraes por isso? Porventura comemos ás costas do rei, ou nos apresentou algum presente?

43 The men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, "We have ten parts in the king, and we are the firstborn rather than you. Why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king?" The words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

E responderam os homens d'Israel aos homens de Judah, e disseram: Dez partes temos no rei, e até em David mais temos nós do que vós; porque pois não fizestes conta de nós, para que a nossa palavra não fosse a primeira, para tornar a trazer o nosso rei? Porém a palavra dos homens de Judah foi mais forte do que a palavra dos homens d'Israel.
