2 Kings 11

1 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal family.

Y Atalía madre de Ocozías, viendo que su hijo era muerto, se levantó, y destruyó toda la simiente real.

2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and secretly took him away from among the king's sons who were to be executed, even him and his nurse, and put them in the bedroom. So he was hidden from Athaliah and was not put to death.

Pero tomando Josaba hija del rey Joram, hermana de Ocozías, a Joás hijo de Ocozías, lo hurtó de entre los hijos del rey, que se mataban, y lo ocultó de delante de Atalía, a él y a su ama, en la cámara de las camas, y así no lo mataron.

3 He was with her hidden in the house of the LORD six years. Athaliah reigned over the land.

Y estuvo con ella escondido en la Casa del SEÑOR seis años; y Atalía fue reina sobre la tierra.

4 In the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the captains over hundreds of the Carites and of the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD; and he made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son.

Mas al séptimo año envió Joiada, y tomó centuriones, capitanes, y gente de la guardia, y los metió consigo en la Casa del SEÑOR; e hizo con ellos liga, juramentándolos en la Casa del SEÑOR; y les mostró al hijo del rey.

5 He commanded them, saying, "This is the thing that you shall do: a third part of you, who come in on the Sabbath, shall be keepers of the watch of the king's house.

Y les mandó, diciendo: Esto es lo que habéis de hacer: la tercera parte de vosotros, los que entrarán el sábado, tendrán la guardia de la casa del rey;

6 A third part shall be at the Foundation Gate, and a third part at the gate behind the guard. So you shall keep the watch of the house, and be a barrier.

y la otra tercera parte estará a la puerta del sur, y la otra tercera parte a la puerta del postigo de los de la guardia; y tendréis la guardia de la casa de Mesah.

7 The two companies of you, even all who go out on the Sabbath, shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD around the king.

Y las otras dos partes de vosotros, es a saber, todos los que salen el sábado, tendréis la guardia de la Casa del SEÑOR junto al rey.

8 You shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand; and he who comes within the ranks, let him be slain. Be with the king when he goes out, and when he comes in."

Y estaréis alrededor del rey de todas partes, teniendo cada uno sus armas en las manos; y cualquiera que entrare dentro de estos órdenes, sea muerto. Y habéis de estar con el rey cuando saliere, y cuando entrare.

9 The captains over hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded; and they took every man his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath, with those who were to go out on the Sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

Y centuriones hicieron todo como el sacerdote Joiada les mandó, tomando cada uno los suyos, es a saber, los que habían de entrar el sábado, y los que habían salido el sábado vinieron a Joiada el sacerdote.

10 The priest delivered to the captains over hundreds the spears and shields that had been king David's, which were in the house of the LORD.

Y el sacerdote dio a los centuriones las picas y los escudos que habían sido del rey David, que estaban en la Casa del SEÑOR.

11 The guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king.

Y los de la guardia se pusieron en orden, teniendo cada uno sus armas en sus manos, desde el lado derecho de la Casa hasta el lado izquierdo, junto al altar y el templo, cerca del rey alrededor.

12 Then he brought out the king's son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, "Long live the king."

Sacando luego Joiada al hijo del rey, le puso la corona y el testimonio, y le hicieron rey ungiéndole; y batiendo las manos dijeron: ¡Viva el rey!

13 When Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the house of the LORD:

Y oyendo Atalía el estruendo del pueblo que corría, entró al pueblo en el templo del SEÑOR;

14 and she looked, and look, the king stood by the pillar, as the tradition was, and the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and cried, "Treason. Treason."

y cuando miró, he aquí el rey que estaba junto a la columna, conforme a la costumbre, y los príncipes y los trompeteros junto al rey; y que todo el pueblo de la tierra hacía alegrías, y que tocaban las trompetas. Entonces Atalía, rasgando sus vestidos, dio voces: ¡Conjuración, conjuración!

15 Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks. Kill him who follows her with the sword." For the priest said, "Do not let her be slain in the house of the LORD."

Entonces el sacerdote Joiada mandó a los centuriones que gobernaban el ejército, y les dijo: Sacadla fuera del cercado del templo, y al que la siguiere, matadlo a cuchillo. (Porque el sacerdote dijo que no la matasen en el templo del SEÑOR).

16 So they made way for her; and she went by the way of the horses' entry to the king's house. She was slain there.

Y le dieron lugar, y vino por el camino por donde entran los de a caballo a la casa del rey, y allí la mataron.

17 Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD's people; between the king also and the people.

Entonces Joiada hizo alianza entre el SEÑOR y el rey, y el pueblo, que serían pueblo del SEÑOR; y asimismo entre el rey y el pueblo.

18 All the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and broke it down; his altars and his images broke they in pieces thoroughly, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. The priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

Y todo el pueblo de la tierra entró en el templo de Baal, y lo derribaron; y quebraron en menudas piezas sus altares y sus imágenes, y asimismo mataron a Matán sacerdote de Baal delante de los altares. Y el sacerdote puso guarnición sobre la Casa del SEÑOR.

19 He took the captains over hundreds, and the Carites, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the Gate of the Guard to the king's house. He sat on the throne of the kings.

Después tomó los centuriones, y capitanes y los de la guardia, y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, y llevaron al rey desde la Casa del SEÑOR, y vinieron por el camino de la puerta de los de la guardia a la casa del rey; y se sentó sobre el trono de los reyes.

20 So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. Athaliah they had slain with the sword at the king's house.

Y todo el pueblo de la tierra hizo alegrías, y la ciudad estuvo en reposo, habiendo sido Atalía muerta a cuchillo junto a la casa del rey.

21 Jehoash was seven years old when he began to reign.

Era Joás de siete años cuando comenzó a reinar.
