1 Samuel 18
1 It happened, when he had made an end of speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ସହିତ ତାଙ୍କର କଥା ସମାପ୍ତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଯୋନାଥନର ପ୍ରାଣ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ପ୍ରାଣରେ ସଂଲଗ୍ନ ହେଲା, ଆଉ ଯୋନାଥନ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରାଣ ପରି ତାଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ନେହ କଲା।
2 Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house.
ପୁଣି, ଶାଉଲ ସେହି ଦିନ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରି ତାଙ୍କର ପିତୃଗୃହକୁ ଆଉ ଯିବାକୁ ଦେଲେ ନାହିଁ।
3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
ଆଉ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରାଣ ପରି ସ୍ନେହ କରିବାରୁ ସେମାନେ ଏକ ନିୟମ କଲେ।
4 Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him, and gave it to David, and his clothing, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his sash.
ପୁଣି, ଯୋନାଥନ ଆପଣା ଦେହରୁ ଚୋଗା କାଢ଼ି ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଦେଲା, ମଧ୍ୟ ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଓ ଖଡ୍ଗ ଓ ଧନୁ ଓ କଟିବନ୍ଧନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଦେଲା।
5 Then Saul set him over the men of war, and David went out, succeeding wherever Saul sent him. And it was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants.
ଆଉ ଶାଉଲ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଯେକୌଣସି ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ପଠାନ୍ତି, ସେ ସେଠାକୁ ଯାଇ ବୁଦ୍ଧିରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରନ୍ତି, ଏହେତୁ ଶାଉଲ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଯୋଦ୍ଧାମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ନିଯୁକ୍ତ କଲେ ଓ ଏହା ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଓ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଉତ୍ତମ ଦେଖାଗଲା।
6 It happened as they came, when David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with instruments of music.
ଦାଉଦ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟକୁ ବଧ କରି ଫେରିଲା ବେଳେ ଲୋକମାନେ ଆସୁ ଆସୁ ଏପରି ହେଲା ଯେ, ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟ ସମସ୍ତ ନଗରରୁ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନେ ବାହାରି ଦାରା, ଆନନ୍ଦଧ୍ୱନି ଓ ତ୍ରିତନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ବାଦ୍ୟ ସହିତ ଗାୟନ ଓ ନୃତ୍ୟ କରୁ କରୁ ଶାଉଲ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ଭେଟିବା ପାଇଁ ଆସିଲେ।
7 The women sang one to another as they played, and said, "Saul has slain his thousands, David his ten thousands."
ଆଉ ସେହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନେ ବାଦ୍ୟ କରୁ କରୁ ଉତ୍ତର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟୁତ୍ତର କ୍ରମେ ଗାୟନ କରି କହିଲେ: “ଶାଉଲ ବଧ କଲେ ସହସ୍ର ସହସ୍ର, ଦାଉଦ ବଧ କଲେ ଅୟୁତ ଅୟୁତ।”
8 Saul was very angry, and this saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands. What can he have more but the kingdom?"
ଏଥିରେ ଶାଉଲ ଅତି କ୍ରୁଦ୍ଧ ହେଲେ ଓ ଏହି କଥା ତାଙ୍କର ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ମନ୍ଦ ବୋଧ ହେଲା; ଏଣୁ ସେ କହିଲେ, “ସେମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଅୟୁତ ଅୟୁତର ଜୟୀ ଓ ଆମ୍ଭଙ୍କୁ କେବଳ ସହସ୍ର ସହସ୍ରର ଜୟୀ ବୋଲି କହିଲେ; ରାଜତ୍ୱ ଛଡ଼ା ତାହାର ଆଉ କଅଣ ପାଇବାର ବାକି ଅଛି?”
9 Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
ସେହି ଦିନାବଧି ଶାଉଲ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି କୁଦୃଷ୍ଟି ରଖିଲେ।
10 It happened on the next day, that an evil spirit from God came mightily on Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house. David played with his hand, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand;
ପରଦିନ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ମନ୍ଦ ଆତ୍ମା ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଆକ୍ରାନ୍ତ କରନ୍ତେ, ସେ ଗୃହ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଭବିଷ୍ୟଦ୍ବାକ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଚାର କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଦାଉଦ ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ପରି ହସ୍ତରେ ବାଦ୍ୟ ବଜାଇଲେ; ସେସମୟରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରେ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଥିଲା।
11 and Saul threw the spear; for he said, "I will pin David even to the wall." David escaped from his presence twice.
ତହୁଁ ଶାଉଲ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଫିଙ୍ଗିଲେ; କାରଣ ସେ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କାନ୍ଥରେ ଫୋଡ଼ିବି।” ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରୁ ଦୁଇ ଥର ଘୁଞ୍ଚିଗଲେ।
12 Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and had departed from Saul.
ପୁଣି, ଶାଉଲ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ କଲେ, କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ଥିଲେ ଓ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ତ୍ୟାଗ କରିଥିଲେ।
13 Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.
ଏହେତୁ ଶାଉଲ ଆପଣା ନିକଟରୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଅନ୍ତର କରି ତାଙ୍କୁ ସହସ୍ର ଉପରେ ଆପଣାର ସେନାପତି କଲେ; ଆଉ ସେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଗତାୟାତ କଲେ।
14 David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.
ଆଉ ଦାଉଦ ଆପଣାର ସବୁ କଥାରେ ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ହେଲେ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ହେଲେ।
15 When Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he stood in awe of him.
ପୁଣି, ଯେତେବେଳେ ଶାଉଲ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଅତି ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ଦେଖିଲେ, ସେ ତାଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଭୀତ ହେଲେ।
16 But all Israel and Judah loved David; for he went out and came in before them.
ମାତ୍ର ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଓ ଯିହୁଦା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେମ କଲେ; କାରଣ ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଗତାୟାତ କଲେ।
17 Saul said to David, "Look, my elder daughter Merob, I will give her to you as wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight the LORD's battles." For Saul said, "Do not let my hand be on him, but let the hand of the Philistines be on him."
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ମେରବ୍ ନାମ୍ନୀ ମୋହର ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠା କନ୍ୟାକୁ ଦେଖ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ତାହାର ବିବାହ ଦେବି; କେବଳ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋହର ପକ୍ଷରେ ବିକ୍ରମୀ ହୁଅ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କର।” ଶାଉଲ ମନେ କଲେ, “ମୋହର ହସ୍ତ ତାହା ଉପରେ ନ ଉଠୁ, ମାତ୍ର ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତ ତାହା ଉପରେ ଉଠୁ।”
18 David said to Saul, "Who am I, and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?"
ଏଥିରେ ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ କିଏ ଓ ମୋହର ଜୀବନ କଅଣ ଓ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ମୋହର ପିତୃବଂଶ କଅଣ ଯେ, ମୁଁ ମହାରାଜାଙ୍କ ଜୁଆଁଇ ହେବି?”
19 But it happened at the time when Merob, Saul's daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite as wife.
ମାତ୍ର ଯେଉଁ ସମୟରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର କନ୍ୟା ମେରବ୍ ଦତ୍ତ ହୋଇଥାʼନ୍ତା, ସେସମୟରେ ଏପରି ଘଟିଲା ଯେ, ସେ ମହୋଲାତୀୟ ଅଦ୍ରୀୟେଲକୁ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ରୂପେ ଦତ୍ତ ହେଲା।
20 Mikal, Saul's daughter, loved David; and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.
ପୁଣି, ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର କନ୍ୟା ମୀଖଲ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେମ କଲା; ତହୁଁ ଲୋକମାନେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ତାହା ଜଣାନ୍ତେ, ସେ କଥା ତାଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ପସନ୍ଦ ହେଲା।
21 And Saul thought, "I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." Therefore Saul said to David, "You shall this day be my son-in-law a second time."
ପୁଣି, ଶାଉଲ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ତାହାକୁ ସେହି କନ୍ୟା ଦେବି, ତହିଁରେ ସେ ତାହାର ଫାନ୍ଦ ସ୍ୱରୂପ ହେବ ଓ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତ ତାହାର ପ୍ରତିକୂଳ ହେବ। ଏଣୁ ଶାଉଲ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆଜି ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଥର ମୋର ଜୁଆଁଇ ହେବ।”
22 Then Saul commanded his servants, "Talk with David secretly, and say, 'Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. So now therefore be the king's son-in-law.'"
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ ଆପଣା ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଗୋପନରେ ଦାଉଦ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଆଳାପ କରି କୁହ, ‘ଦେଖ, ରାଜା ତୁମ୍ଭ ଉପରେ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ଅଛନ୍ତି ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ଦାସ ତୁମ୍ଭଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେମ କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି; ଏହେତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଜୁଆଁଇ ହୁଅ।’”
23 Saul's servants spoke those words in the ears of David. David said, "Does it seems to you a little thing to be the king's son-in-law, since I am a poor man, and insignificant?"
ତହିଁରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚରରେ ଏହି କଥା କହିଲେ। ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ କହିଲେ, “ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଜୁଆଁଇ ହେବା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ କି କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ର କଥା? କାରଣ ମୁଁ ଦରିଦ୍ର ଲୋକ ଓ ଅଳ୍ପମାନ୍ୟ।”
24 The servants of Saul told him, saying, "David spoke like this."
ଏଥିରେ ଦାଉଦ ଏପରି ଏପରି କହିଲେ ବୋଲି ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇ କହିଲେ।
25 Saul said, "You shall tell David, 'The king desires no dowry except one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies.'" Now Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
ତହିଁରେ ଶାଉଲ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଏପରି କୁହ, ‘ରାଜା କିଛି ମୂଲ୍ୟ ଚାହାନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଶତ୍ରୁମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ପରିଶୋଧ ନେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କର ଶହେ ସୁନ୍ନତ ଚର୍ମ ଚାହାନ୍ତି।’” ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ବିଚାର ଥିଲା।
26 When his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law. The days were not expired;
ପୁଣି, ତାଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଏହି କଥା ଜଣାନ୍ତେ, ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଜୁଆଁଇ ହେବା ପାଇଁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ପସନ୍ଦ ହେଲା।
27 and David arose and went, he and his men, and killed of the Philistines one hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full number to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him Mikal his daughter as wife.
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ କାଳ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ନୋହୁଣୁ, ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ଉଠିଯାଇ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କର ଦୁଇ ଶହ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଦାଉଦ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ସୁନ୍ନତ ଚର୍ମ ଆଣିଲେ, ତହୁଁ ସେ ଯେପରି ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଜୁଆଁଇ ହେବେ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସଂଖ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ ତାହା ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ଦେଲେ। ତହିଁରେ ଶାଉଲ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣା କନ୍ୟା ମୀଖଲକୁ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ରୂପେ ଦାନ କଲେ।
28 And Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that all Israel loved him,
ଆଉ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ସଙ୍ଗରେ ଅଛନ୍ତି; ଏହା ଶାଉଲ ଦେଖିଲେ ଓ ଜାଣିଲେ; ମଧ୍ୟ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର କନ୍ୟା ମୀଖଲ ତାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେମ କଲା।
29 then Saul was even more afraid of David. So Saul was David's enemy continually.
ଏହେତୁ ଶାଉଲ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ବିଷୟରେ ଅଧିକ ଭୀତ ହେଲେ; ଆଉ ଶାଉଲ ସର୍ବଦା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଶତ୍ରୁ ହେଲେ।
30 Then the leaders of the Philistines went forth: and it happened, as often as they went forth, that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was highly esteemed.
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟ ଅଧିପତିମାନେ ବାହାରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ; ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ଯେତେ ଥର ବାହାରିଲେ, ସେତେଥର ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ଦାସ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଅଧିକ ବୁଦ୍ଧିର କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କଲେ; ଏଣୁ ତାଙ୍କର ନାମ ଅତିଶୟ ମାନ୍ୟ ହେଲା।
