1 Kings 11

1 Now king Solomon loved women, and he took many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites;

Pero el rey Salomón amó a muchas mujeres extranjeras junto con la hija de Faraón; a las de Moab, a las de Amón, a las de Idumea, a las de Sidón, y a las heteas;

2 of the nations concerning which the LORD said to the children of Israel, "You shall not go among them, neither shall they come among you; for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods." Solomon clung to these in love.

de los gentiles de las cuales el SEÑOR había dicho a los hijos de Israel: No entraréis a ellas, ni ellas entrarán a vosotros; porque ciertamente ellas harán inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A éstas pues se juntó Salomón con amor.

3 He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred secondary wives; and his wives turned away his heart.

Y tuvo setecientas mujeres reinas, y trescientas concubinas; y sus mujeres hicieron inclinar su corazón.

4 For it happened, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

Y ya que Salomón era viejo, sus mujeres inclinaron su corazón tras dioses ajenos; y su corazón no era perfecto con el SEÑOR su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

Porque Salomón siguió a Astoret, diosa de los sidonios, y a Milcom, abominación de los amonitas.

6 Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not completely follow after the LORD, as did David his father.

E hizo Salomón lo malo en los ojos del SEÑOR, y no fue cumplidamente tras el SEÑOR como David su padre.

7 Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Milcom the abomination of the people of Ammon.

Entonces edificó Salomón un alto a Quemos, abominación de Moab, en el monte que está enfrente de Jerusalén; y a Moloc, abominación de los hijos de Amón.

8 So he did for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods.

Y así hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, las cuales quemaban perfumes, y sacrificaban a sus dioses.

9 The LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,

Y se enojó el SEÑOR contra Salomón, por cuanto estaba su corazón desviado del SEÑOR Dios de Israel, que se le había aparecido dos veces,

10 and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods. But he did not obey that which the LORD commanded.

y le había mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiese dioses ajenos; mas él no guardó lo que le mandó el SEÑOR.

11 Therefore the LORD said to Solomon, "Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

Y dijo el SEÑOR a Salomón: Por cuanto ha habido esto en ti, y no has guardado mi pacto y mis estatutos que yo te mandé, romperé el reino de ti, y lo entregaré a tu siervo.

12 Notwithstanding I will not do it in your days, for David your father's sake; but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

Pero no lo haré en tus días, por amor de David tu padre; lo romperé de la mano de tu hijo.

13 However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen."

Sin embargo no romperé todo el reino, sino que daré una tribu a tu hijo, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalén que yo he elegido.

14 The LORD raised up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite. He was of the royal line in Edom.

Y el SEÑOR suscitó un adversario a Salomón, a Adad, idumeo, de la sangre real, el cual estaba en Edom.

15 For it happened, when David had conquered Edom, and Joab the commander of the army was gone up to bury the slain, and had struck every male in Edom

Porque cuando David estaba en Edom, y subió Joab el general del ejército a enterrar los muertos, y mató a todos los varones de Edom

16 (for Joab and all Israel remained there six months, until he had killed every male in Edom);

(porque seis meses habitó allí Joab, y todo Israel, hasta que hubo acabado a todo el sexo masculino en Edom);

17 that Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt, Hadad being yet a little child.

entonces huyó Adad, y con él algunos varones idumeos de los siervos de su padre, y se fue a Egipto; era entonces Adad muchacho pequeño.

18 They arose out of Midian, and came to Paran; and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land.

Y se levantaron de Madián, y vinieron a Parán; y tomando consigo varones de Parán, vinieron a Egipto, a Faraón rey de Egipto, el cual le dio casa, y le mandó dar alimentos, y también le dio tierra.

19 Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him as wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

Y halló Adad grande gracia delante de Faraón, el cual le dio por mujer a la hermana de su esposa, a la hermana de la reina Tahpenes.

20 The sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes raised in Pharaoh's house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh's house among the sons of Pharaoh.

Y la hermana de Tahpenes le dio a luz a su hijo Genubat, al cual destetó Tahpenes dentro de la casa de Faraón; y estaba Genubat en casa de Faraón entre los hijos de Faraón.

21 When Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the commander of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, "Let me depart, that I may go to my own country."

Y oyendo Adad en Egipto que David había dormido con sus padres, y que era muerto Joab general del ejército, Adad dijo a Faraón: Déjame ir a mi tierra.

22 Then Pharaoh said to him, "But what have you lacked with me, that look, you seek to go to your own country?" He answered, "Nothing, however only let me depart."

Y le respondió Faraón: ¿Por qué? ¿Qué te falta conmigo, que procuras irte a tu tierra? Y él respondió: Nada; con todo, te ruego que me dejes ir.

23 God raised up an adversary to him, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah.

Le despertó también Dios por adversario a Rezón, hijo de Eliada, el cual había huido de su amo Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba.

24 He gathered men to himself and became leader of a marauding band when David killed them. And they went to Damascus, and lived there, and reigned in Damascus.

Y había juntado gente contra él, y se había hecho capitán de una compañía, cuando David deshizo a los de Soba. Después se fueron a Damasco, y habitaron allí y le hicieron rey en Damasco.

25 He was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the evil Hadad did. And he loathed Israel, and reigned over Aram.

Y fue adversario a Israel todos los días de Salomón; y fue otro mal con el de Adad, porque aborreció a Israel, y reinó sobre Siria.

26 Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite of Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow, he also lifted up his hand against the king.

Asimismo Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, efrateo de Sereda, siervo de Salomón (su madre se llamaba Zerúa, mujer viuda), alzó su mano contra el rey.

27 This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breach of the City of David his father.

Y la causa porque éste alzó mano contra el rey, fue ésta: Salomón edificando a Milo, cerró el portillo de la ciudad de David su padre.

28 The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon saw the young man that he was industrious, and he put him in charge of all the labor of the house of Joseph.

Y el varón Jeroboam era valiente y esforzado; y viendo Salomón al joven que era hombre activo, le encomendó todo el cargo de la casa de José.

29 And it happened at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him on the way and caused him to turn aside out of the way. Now he had dressed himself with a new garment, and the two were alone in the countryside.

Aconteció, pues, en aquel tiempo, que saliendo Jeroboam de Jerusalén, le encontró en el camino el profeta Ahías silonita; y él estaba cubierto con una capa nueva; y estaban ellos dos solos en el campo.

30 And Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces.

Y trabando Ahías de la capa nueva que tenía sobre sí, la rompió en doce pedazos,

31 He said to Jeroboam, "Take ten pieces; for thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Look, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you

y dijo a Jeroboam: Toma para ti los diez pedazos; porque así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo rompo el reino de la mano de Salomón, y a ti daré diez tribus;

32 (but he shall have one tribe, for my servant David's sake and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel);

y él tendrá una tribu, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalén, ciudad que yo he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel;

33 because he has forsaken me, and has worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon. And he has not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.

por cuanto me han dejado, y han adorado a Astoret diosa de los sidonios, y a Quemos dios de Moab, y a Moloc dios de los hijos de Amón; y no han andado en mis caminos, para hacer lo que es recto delante de mis ojos, y mis estatutos, y mis derechos, como hizo David su padre.

34 "'However I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him prince all the days of his life, for David my servant's sake whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes;

Pero no quitaré nada de su reino de sus manos, sino que lo pondré por capitán todos los días de su vida, por amor de David mi siervo, al cual yo elegí, y él guardó mis mandamientos y mis estatutos.

35 but I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it to you, even ten tribes.

Mas yo quitaré el reino de la mano de su hijo, y lo daré a ti, las diez tribus;

36 To his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

y a su hijo daré una tribu, para que mi siervo David tenga lámpara todos los días delante de mi faz en Jerusalén, ciudad que yo me elegí para poner en ella mi nombre.

37 I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.

Yo pues te tomaré a ti, y tú reinarás en todas las cosas que deseare tu alma, y serás rey sobre Israel.

38 It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

Y será que, si prestares oído a todas las cosas que te mandare, y anduvieres en mis caminos, e hicieres lo que es recto delante de mis ojos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como hizo David mi siervo, yo seré contigo, y te edificaré casa firme, como la edifiqué a David, y yo te entregaré a Israel.

39 I will for this afflict the offspring of David, but not forever.'"

Y yo afligiré la simiente de David a causa de esto, mas no para siempre.

40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam; but Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

Procuró por tanto Salomón matar a Jeroboam, pero se levantó Jeroboam y huyó a Egipto, a Sisac rey de Egipto, y estuvo en Egipto hasta la muerte de Salomón.

41 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren't they written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

Lo demás de los hechos de Salomón, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su sabiduría, ¿no están escritas en el libro de los hechos de Salomón?

42 The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

Y los días que Salomón reinó en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel, fueron cuarenta años.

43 Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David his father. And Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.

Y durmió Salomón con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de su padre David; y reinó en su lugar Roboam su hijo.
