Psalms 62

1 [For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthan. A Psalm by David.] My soul rests in God alone, for my salvation is from him.

Til sangmesteren, for Jedutun; en salme av David. Bare i håp til Gud er min sjel stille; fra ham kommer min frelse.

2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress—I will never be upended.

Han alene er min klippe og min frelse, min borg, jeg skal ikke rokkes meget.

3 How long will you assault a man, would all of you throw him down, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

Hvor lenge vil I alle storme løs på en mann, bryte ham ned som en mur som heller, et gjerde som støtes om?

4 They fully intend to throw him down from his lofty place. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. (Selah)

De rådslår bare om å styrte ham ned fra hans høihet, de har sin lyst i løgn; med sin munn velsigner de, men i sitt hjerte forbanner de. (Sela)

5 My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him.

Bare i håp til Gud vær stille, min sjel! for fra ham kommer mitt håp.

6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be upended.

Han alene er min klippe og min frelse, min borg, jeg skal ikke rokkes.

7 With God is my salvation and my honor. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Hos Gud er min frelse og min ære; min sterke klippe, min tilflukt er i Gud.

8 Trust in him at all times, O people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. (Selah)

Sett eders lit til ham til enhver tid, I folk! Utøs eders hjerte for hans åsyn! Gud er vår tilflukt. (Sela)

9 Surely men of low degree are just a breath, and men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.

Bare tomhet er menneskenes barn, bare løgn er mannens sønner; i vektskålen stiger de til værs, de er tomhet alle sammen.

10 Do not trust in oppression. Do not become vain in robbery. If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

Stol ikke på vold, og sett ikke fåfengt håp til røvet gods! Når rikdommen vokser, så akt ikke på det!

11 God has spoken once; twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God.

En gang har Gud talt, ja to ganger har jeg hørt det, at styrke hører Gud til.

12 Also to you, LORD, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work.

Og dig, Herre, hører miskunnhet til; for du betaler enhver efter hans gjerning.
