Jeremiah 22
1 Thus said the LORD: "Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,
Så sa Herren: Gå ned til Judas konges hus og tal der dette ord:
2 Say, 'Hear the word of the LORD, king of Judah, who sits on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people who enter in by these gates.
Hør Herrens ord, du Judas konge som sitter på Davids trone, du selv og dine tjenere og ditt folk, I som går inn gjennem disse porter!
3 Thus says the LORD: "Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence, to the foreigner, the fatherless, nor the widow; neither shed innocent blood in this place.
Så sier Herren: Gjør rett og rettferdighet, fri den plyndrede ut av undertrykkerens hånd, og gjør ikke urett og vold mot den fremmede, den farløse og enken, og utøs ikke uskyldig blod på dette sted!
4 For if you do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
For dersom I gjør efter dette ord, så skal konger som sitter på Davids trone, dra inn gjennem portene til dette hus på vogner og hester, kongen selv og hans tjenere og hans folk.
5 But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself, says the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation."
Men dersom I ikke hører på disse ord, da sverger jeg ved mig selv, sier Herren, at dette hus skal bli ødelagt.
6 For thus says the LORD concerning the house of the king of Judah: "You are Gilead to me, the head of Lebanon. Yet surely I will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
For så sier Herren om Judas konges hus: Et Gilead er du for mig, en Libanons topp; men sannelig, jeg vil gjøre dig til en ørken, til byer som ingen bor i.
7 I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons; and they shall cut down your choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
Og jeg vil innvie ødeleggere mot dig, hver med sine våben, og de skal hugge ned dine herligste sedrer og kaste dem på ilden.
8 Many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this great city?'
Og mange hedninger skal gå forbi denne by og si til hverandre: Hvorfor har Herren gjort så med denne store by?
9 Then they shall answer, 'Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshiped other gods, and served them.'
Og de skal svare: Fordi de forlot Herrens, sin Guds pakt og tilbad andre guder og dyrket dem.
10 Do not weep for the dead, neither bemoan him; but weep bitterly for him who goes away; for he shall return no more, nor see his native country."
Gråt ikke over en død og klag ikke over ham! Gråt over ham som har draget bort! For han skal ikke mere komme tilbake og se sitt fødeland.
11 For thus says the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went forth out of this place: "He shall not return there any more.
For så sier Herren om Judas konge Sallum, Josias' sønn, som blev konge efter sin far Josias, og som drog bort fra dette sted: Han skal ikke mere komme tilbake hit;
12 But in the place where they have led him captive, there shall he die, and he shall see this land no more."
men på det sted som de har ført ham til i fangenskap, der skal han dø, og dette land skal han ikke se mere.
13 Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his rooms by injustice; who uses his neighbor's service without wages, and doesn't give him his hire;
Ve ham som bygger sitt hus med urettferdighet og sine saler med urett, som lar sin næste træle for intet og ikke gir ham hans lønn,
14 who says, "I will build me a wide house and spacious rooms," and cuts him out windows; and it is ceiling with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
som sier: Jeg vil bygge mig et rummelig hus og luftige saler, og som hugger ut vinduer på det og paneler det med sedertre og maler det med rødt.
15 Shall you reign, because you strive to excel in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.
Er du konge fordi du kappes i å bygge av sedertre? Din far - mon han ikke åt og drakk og gjorde rett og rettferdighet? Da gikk det ham vel.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Wasn't this to know me?' says the LORD.
Han hjalp den elendige og fattige til hans rett; da gikk det vel. Er ikke dette å kjenne mig? sier Herren.
17 "But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it."
Men dine øine og ditt hjerte er ikke rettet på annet enn på vinning og på å utøse den uskyldiges blod og på å bruke vold og undertrykkelse.
18 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: "they shall not lament for him, saying, 'Alas my brother. or, Alas sister.' They shall not lament for him, saying, 'Alas lord.' or, 'Alas his majesty.'
Derfor sier Herren så om Judas konge Jojakim, Josias' sønn: De skal ikke holde sørgehøitid over ham og rope: Ve, min bror! Ve, søster! De skal ikke holde sørgehøitid over ham og rope: Ve, herre! Ve, hans herlighet!
19 He shall be buried with the burial of a donkey, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
Som de begraver et asen, skal han begraves; de skal slepe ham bort og slenge ham vekk langt fra Jerusalems porter.
20 Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim; for all your lovers are destroyed.
Stig op på Libanon og skrik, og la din røst lyde i Basan og skrik fra Abarim! For alle dine elskere er knust.
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity; but you said, 'I will not hear.' This has been your way from your youth, that you did not obey my voice.
Jeg talte til dig i din trygghet; men du sa: Jeg vil ikke høre. Dette var din ferd fra din ungdom av at du ikke hørte på min røst.
22 The wind shall feed all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity: surely then you will be ashamed and confounded for all your wickedness.
Alle dine førere skal vinden bortføre, og dine elskere må gå i fangenskap; ja, da skal du vanæres og bli til skamme for all din ondskaps skyld.
23 Inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how greatly you will groan when pangs come on you, the pain as of a woman in travail.
Du som bor på Libanon, som har ditt rede i sedrene, hvor du vil stønne når smerter kommer over dig, veer som den fødende kvinnes!
24 As I live," says the LORD, "though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet on my right hand, yet would I pluck you there;
Så sant jeg lever, sier Herren, selv om du Konja, Jojakims sønn, Judas konge, var en signetring på min høire hånd, så vilde jeg rive dig derfra.
25 and I will give you into the hand of those who seek your life, and into the hand of them of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
Og jeg vil gi dig i deres hånd som står dig efter livet, og i deres hånd som du gruer for, i Babels konge Nebukadnesars hånd og i kaldeernes hånd.
26 I will cast you out, and your mother who bore you, into another country, where you were not born; and there you will die.
Og jeg vil kaste dig og din mor som fødte dig, bort til et annet land, hvor I ikke blev født, og der skal I dø.
27 But to the land whereunto their soul longs to return, there shall they not return."
Men det land de stunder efter å komme tilbake til, til det skal de ikke komme tilbake.
28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which none delights? Why are they cast out, he and his descendants, and cast into a land that they do not know?
Er han da en foraktet, knust lerkrukke, denne mann Konja, eller et kar som ingen bryr sig om? Hvorfor er de bortkastet, han og hans ætt, og slengt bort til det land de ikke kjente?
29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.
Land! land! land! Hør Herrens ord!
30 Thus says the LORD, "Write this man down childless, a man who will not succeed in his days; for none of his descendants will succeed in sitting on the throne of David, and ruling in Judah.
Så sier Herren: Skriv denne mann op som barnløs, som en mann som ingen lykke har i sine levedager! For ingen av hans ætt skal mere få lykke til å sitte på Davids trone og herske over Juda.
