< 1 Peter 1 >

1 Peter, an emissary of Yeshua the Messiah, to the chosen ones who are living as foreigners in the Diaspora in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Ruach, that you may obey Yeshua the Messiah and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah from the dead,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Yeshua the Messiah is revealed—
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 whom not having seen you love; in whom, though now you do not see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory—
Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come to you:
11 searching for who or what kind of time the Ruach of Messiah, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Messiah, and the glories that would follow them.
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Ruach ha-Kodesh sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.
To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they did minister the things, which are now reported to you by them that have preached the gospel to you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you when Yeshua the Messiah is revealed.
Why gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires as in your ignorance,
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior;
But as he which has called you is holy, so be you holy in all manner of conversation;
16 because it is written, "You shall be holy; for I am holy."
Because it is written, Be you holy; for I am holy.
17 If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man's work, pass the time of your living as foreigners here in reverent fear:
And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers,
For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 but with precious blood, as of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely the Messiah.
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 He was chosen in advance before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake,
Who truly was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from a pure heart fervently:
Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit to unfeigned love of the brothers, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the living and abiding word of God. (aiōn g165)
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and stays for ever. (aiōn g165)
24 For, "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass wither, and the flower thereof falls away:
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever." This is the word of Good News which was preached to you. (aiōn g165)
But the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached to you. (aiōn g165)
